If it is using an M3U, XC type of subscription, have you tried it with the BuzzTV 5 LiveTV app ? If it is MAC based, then you will need to get your provider to change the MAC (since you can't change the MAC on current Buzz boxes). Do you have a portal with a URL and a username and password ? If so, it is probably an XC type sub. Go into LiveTV, if you have nothing configured, it should bring up the Servers screen, and you can go over the XC, then select add server, and put in your info. No need to use some crappy app they provide. If you want IPTV, don't give up. There are plenty of services which offer great services. And as long as you have a stable internet connection (doesn't even need to be anything super fast), you can get a decent iptv experience (especially paired up with the Buzztv LiveTV app).

You can't compare apples and oranges. I stream everything also. But I use the integrated BuzzTV 5 app on my boxes, with valid paying subs. Using the integrated apps makes it easier to get support for any issues/glitches, and Buzz is pretty quick in resolving them (since they can typically reproduce them). Subs are cheap (compared to cable) and all the headaches with 3rd party apps every time something changes in the equation was just too annoying. I still have a few apps, but they are really a last resort for some very obscure media I may be searching for. There are many variables in here when you start mixing different OS. Keep in mind the X5 is running AndroidTV 11, vs Android 9 on the xrs4500 and god only knows what half @ss version of android each firestick is running. And yes, it is not a typo, it is no only a numeric version change on Android, but also went to AndroidTV vs regular Android. There is a big difference. Many older apps, have yet to update their internal API, and can sometimes not work too well with newer boxes. Some even have custom version built for AndroidTV vs regular Android. Even my VPN app (Winds#####) has a separate app for regular Android and different one optimized for Android TV. The regular Android one, works for the most part, but has all sorts of glitches and UI issues) This is no different than windows. Why do you think most large companies are still on W10, and not on W11. Some are barely just started moving to W11, since many mainstream apps they rely on are not ready or tested for W11. So if app developers don't update their apps as the OS evolves, they will be left behind. And you say you are using the HDMI cable that came with the X5. Like any other piece of equipment, there is still a chance that it "may" be defective. And do you SHUTDOWN or STANDBY (do you always see a boot logo upon powering box on) ? What version of firmware are you running ? Are you wired, or wireless ?
-
First of all, you say running all the same apps with your firestick ? Which I assume you are NOT using the integrated BuzzTV 5 app on the X5. This kind of defeats the whole purpose of buying a BuzzTV box. In this forum we provide support for the buzzTV box itself and the associated BuzzTV apps. If you are using a 3rd party app, then you are not going to get any support on 3rd party apps here. And as nbs requested, what software version are you using on your box ? If you go into the Updates screen, both Firmware and BuzzTV app version are in there. Are you connected, wired or wireless ? Having gotten that out of the way, here are some general comments. First, CEC can affect things. CEC is not implemented "Exactly" the same way on all boxes/TVs. And if it is CEC related, cables can cause issues. You say it is not the HDMI cable... did you change it with some good quality new cable ? The requirements of HDMI are different from one device to the other, depending on the features (CEC, Ethernet, etc..). There is a reason there are so many different HDMI standard (1.4, 2.0, 2.1..) It would not hurt to go into the settings of the BuzzTV box, and disable everything related to CEC. There is a menu Settings-> Device Preferences->Display and Sound->HDMI CEC settings, you can disable everything in there. Also, when you pwer down the X5, are you shutting it down, or does it going into suspend ? ie: when you power it up, do you always see the boot logo animation ? If not, then you are going into suspend. After some time, this can cause issues. Ideally a complete shutdown should be done.

If you check on amazon Canada, search for product "B01LAIUWJY" and it should be what you need. It is jut under CDN$8. According to description, it is TRRS PINOUT: Tip Left, Ring1: Right, Ring 2: Video, Sleeve: Ground. So it should work as expected. And it is fulfilled by amazon, so if it is not as per description, should be simple enough to return.

This is not an error that is specific to Buzz (and certainly not BuzzTV5). Probably due to the newer updated kernel that is installed, which some apps are not compatible with yet. If you do a google search for the error, you will see piles of people having the exact same error on pixel phones, tablets, etc... The problem is more with poorly written apps, which are rushed to market without much testing on a variety of platforms. I don't use these apps, but as a general comment, I would say try going into settings, apps, and for the apps in question, try to clear the cache. Making a kernel change can often require the app to reinitialize certain things, rather than depending on the cache. This forum is for support with BuzzTV apps (like the BuzzTV 5 - which provide the IPTV services). For support with 3rd party apps, I suggest checking out the support forums for those apps specifically.

And when you say "Certain downloads seem to be blocked", what exactly do you mean ? Nothing is blocked.. I download and install all kinds of things on all my buzz boxes. The MAC you used for your provider is the 00:1A:79:xx:xx:xx one, correct ? Not the one under the box... the SERVER ID: from the server screen. And if your provider does not need "credentials" you did not accidently click and enable the credentials box ?

Brand new u 5 video stuttering and will not record
Emporium replied to Pioneer plasma's topic in BuzzTV 5
The player to which works best, is very dependant on the service you use and HOW they encode their streams. Most services I use, work perfectly fine with Primary player. There are very few that I need to switch to backup. And usually, most that I am obliged to use backup player, don't survive too long, because they typically have many other stability issues (not related to the box). Usually you try changing players first.. If that doesn't help and you are using XC, change the Stream type. -
OK.. I wasn't aware that the U5 actually kills the power on it also once ejected. I know many other devices, that an EJECT is just a software "data" eject so it is no longer mounted, but power was still applied and drives still spin (even though not accessed).
-
I would suggest not only ejecting the drive, but actually physically removing it from the box as a test. Some traditional mechanical drives get a little too hot for the enclosed area. Most of my buddies that have a U5, have switched to an SSD, and all bizarre behaviors went away. When I got my U5, I never installed the mechanical drive, I just went to a small SSD instead which was perfect for my usage. If removing the drive does not help, I know this is a new box, so maybe a true hard reset would help. You can follow this video, it is for an xrs4500, but the method is identical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l1x3KJl_jE I know it may sound drastic for a new box, but I have an HD5 which I don't use too much, and last week I plugged it in and it was doing all sorts of strange glitches for the WiFi/cabled connection. I tried everything I could think off, , but at the end of the day (since I figured it was unusable), I did a hard factory reset, and everything now works flawlessly. For warranty, don't worry about it, Buzz typically offers a 1yr warranty on most products.

You did not "accidently" select beta. You actively need to request to have beta sent to you, and it comes with the potential glitches, which you accept by installing it Anyhow... The problem here is the title of the movie. If you notice in this specific MI movie, after "MISSION", there is a ":". The search function does NOT do a regular expression style "OR/AND" type of search for the multiple words you put in. It is unfortunately the whole string as you type it, spaces and all that it searches for. "Mission impossible" is NOT equal to "Mission: Impossible" Try search for "ghost pr" instead and it should be the only movie in the list

Do you have an CEC settings enabled ? When you turn TV off, is the X5 still with Blue LED on front, or does it go RED ?
-
My office temps are quite high typically, and my box is sitting on my desk, and it is on pretty much all day with no issues. I am wired (not WiFi) but don't think that makes a "huge" difference.

If you insist on M3U, there is option at the end which is often for "type=m3u" or "type=m3u_plus". Without the _plus, many services only list LiveTV only. It needs to be m3u_plus if you want all the VOD. But if you can use XC (as mentioned my RYU), it would be ideal
-
Are the channels just dark, or do you get something like media not supported or something ? Back during the world cup, when I had channels being blocked by my ISP, I installed Windscribe VPN on my Buzz and everything worked fine. On surfshark, are you using the same geographical server ?
-
When you say EPG loads fast. Are you sure it is not just Cached from previous use ? Many services offer a 7 day EPG, and therefore once cached, you will rarely see it updating the last 2 or 3 days, and current programs are always there.
-
Are you using XC type sub ? If so, from LiveTV, go to menu->settings->configuration and at the very bottom, you have a "stream type" option. Change it from TS to M3U/HLS.
-
True, but the basic IR codes are the same, no ? My IR200 still works fine on an X5 and the Classic and vice versa, in IR mode. OK, it it is BT paired mode, that is a different story.
-
He obviously meant downloading a movie from VOD, since he says "error downloads failed" Keep in mind that if you start a download, the device needs to remain on, otherwise download will be interrupted for sure.
-
If there is a power glitch at any time, the box will turn on. It is the default action as soon as power is applied.
-
2 potential things to try: 1> As mentioned my dishuser, In LiveTV, press the menu button, and go to Settings->Configuration and on the top you will see the Media player for Live TV. Choice is "primary" and "backup". Try changing between players and see if it is any better. 2> In LiveTV, press the menu button, and go to Settings->Configuration and on the complete BOTTOM of the menu (you can probably just go upwards to get to the bottom of the list, you will see an option for stream format. Default is probably set to "TS". If you have the option, try changing it to "M3U8/HLS" option. For this specific change to take effect, you will probably need to exit Live TV (long press "back" and select "exit"), and then go back into LiveTV. (May be able to do it with a refresh or something, but properly exiting and then entering LiveTV again is a safe bet).

Thanks allaboutbuzz. Just one piece of logic to add if you do it that way. IF it is a favorites category that is the only one selected to be visible, ensure that it at least has 1 channel in the category list. When I first did it, I selected only favorites to be visible, but I had no channels in favorites yet, so when I accidently exited, I had no categories visible since favorites only is visible when something is in the group. There is a small workaround (using the search option, finding a channel, and then adding it to favorites), but it would cause confusion and too many support tickets again
-
Actually, I know what you are talking about, since I did it on my mom's box It is not to hide "all" categories. It is to hide the "All Channels" category itself... For my mom, I went through the channels and flagged all the channels she watches (about a dozen max) as favorites, and then I hid EVERY other category, including the "All Channels". That way, when she turns the box on, I sent it to go straight into LiveTV and Favorites category is the only one available. So no matter what she does, she won't be lost trying to find categories.. Pressing CH+ and CH- is all she knows how to do (can't teach her anything new at this age). Attached is a sample of what her organize favorites page looks like (I had taken a pic). Created all her favorites first, and then disabled everything else (including the "All Channels" category), except for "favorites". That way, she can't accidently find herself in some category confused and calling me to guide her keypress by keypress. When I did this, I know she was running BuzzTV version 5.0.775. But YES, as NBS mentioned, if you accidently hide "ALL" categories (when that option was available), you will have no choice but to reset the box to recover. I'm sure there is a way to address both issues. Maybe something to the effect of being able to go into "organize favorites" as long as the "categories" side panel is open, even if there is no category to select. Because with 5.0.775, if you hide all, and bring up the empty category side panel, and even though button legend says "green" to organize favorites, it would not do anything, since no category was selected (since none is visible). I found the option quite helpful for non-techie users to make the box "dummy" proof. However to bring that back and address the potential of hiding all categories without recovery (short of a reset) is Buzz's choice. They ultimately can make that call.

I do not have any such issues with The Classic. Have you tried UNPAIRING the remote from the box, and then just using it in IR mode (instead of paired via Bluetooth) ? When you check in the settings, under "remote and accessories" is the remote recognized as a BT250 ? Just curious, since the layout is different on the BT100 (issues with original xrs4500) and BT400 (issues with newer xrs4500 units) vs the BT250, and "coincidently" where the EPG button is on the BT250 (top right of DPAD), is the "return/back" button of the BT100 For the PGUP/PGDN, just a hint, when in a list (like channel list or EPG), the CH+ and CH- buttons also work as PGUp/PGDn buttons (this does not solve your issues, but just saying, since they are more conveniently located).

Do you have your WiFi router close to your buzz box ? Don't forget that BT and WiFi both operate on 2.4Ghz. Try changing the 2.4Ghz channel on your WiFi router if you are relatively close (channel 1, 6 or 11 to ensure non overlapping channels). There may be an interference. I would tell you to disable 2.4Ghz and stick to 5Ghz band only, but many IoT devices are 2.4Ghz only.
