Same here. It seems to remember the specific aspect ratio selected for each channel. I have a few channels which I force to stretch and no issues with going back.

Guys, this feature was brought back in order to accommodate people who have issues with their MAC already being on other panels, or being used by someone who generated one randomly, or people who's MAC has been compromised on some server. If you don't NEED it, there is no point in changing it. If you are changing box, then it is not difficult to ask your provider to update the MAC on their panel to reflect your new box. Even if you "replicate" an old MAC, if the server locks/marries on some other item, like the DEVICE ID, then it makes no difference, since you will still need to ask your reseller to reset you account, so the system can resync with your new "credentials". Bottom line, if you have no very specific reason for changing it, why bother ?
-
First you create the MAC server you want, and THEN after it is saved, and you are on the main MAC server screen, when you highlight the server in question, you have the option of RED button to EDIT/REMOVE, and BLUE to CHANGE MAC.

I just tried on my 4500 (should be same as 4900) and had no issue doing backup onto USB stick. It was a little strange however, since during the process it did ask if I wanted to go to internal or external USB, and by default external was selected (like the screen Woody has posted above). But then when I hit next and brought up the little file manager to select where to save, it was by default on internal storage (even though external was selected in previous step). But quick selection of external and hit next and it did go to usb stick. But if you do not realize it, I can see how someone can accidently do a backup and "assume" it was done to USB even though it was internal location selected. I removed the stick and went to restore option and nothing was there (which is what I expected). Then I inserted the USB stick and it showed the backup I just made. Also, checked stick on my PC and the file was there.

Are you starting a recording while you are watching the channel, or are you scheduling one ? Just curious. Because if you are scheduling it, I'm pretty sure it will start another stream (if you are watching at the same time), which will be an issue if your sub only supports a single connection.

LOL.. That one was quite obvious.. I thought you wanted the B. I guess sometimes we overthink it All the units with with IR anyhow. Glad it suit your needs. Cheers

If you go into Settings-->All apps, and you scroll down, then show system apps ,and keep scrolling down to "PVR Service", try opening it, and then clearing the cache, just in case something is latched. Now give it a try again. If that doesn't work, do the same, and this type just clear data. Not sure how the recording are stored, but if you have recording schedules stored, clearing data "may" clear any scheduled recordings, and possibly any recordings you may have stored on your device. This is worth a try, since it is better than a complete reset of the box
-
Have you verified that your PVR "storage" location is still actually properly configured and accessible (maybe check with a file explorer) ?
-
Too late for him now As DU mentions, it backs it up internally (Android 9 limitation). You then transfer it to external manually before reset. And WHO does a reset without confirming that the file was created anyhow ? What good is a backup, if you don't confirm it's existence
-
First of all, you simply say it "doesn't work". Can you be a little more specific ? Does it record anything ? Does the box turn on to try to record ? Have you checked if the PVR option (destination) are still valid and configured ? How are you trying to record, scheduled, or hitting record while watching ? etc... You don't provide details, you won't get much feedback. And the recording issues thread mentioned is in the X5 section. The BuzzTV sotware is pretty much the same on all devices.

Works fine on both my 4900 boxes. Try clearing the BuzzTV 5 cache

And enlighten us WHY you would want to pair 2 remotes at once ? Realize that the BuzzTV tools for backlighting and button shortcuts would probably be messed up if you have 2 active remotes, since this is not a very common request. If you want 2 remotes, then I would strongly recommend looking at one of the BuzzTV ARQ remotes which would be using a USB dongle (not BlueTooth). I have had 2 remotes paired on my X5 in the past (a BT400 and a BT250). But that was only because I was testing the BT250 and was too lazy to pull out and setup my Classic box. The Remote tool was only reporting 1 of the remotes however, even though both were pared and connected according to the device menu. And I do recall having had to play around and had found some sequence of button presses to get it to work, since it would not work as it does when you are pairing the first remote. I don't recall the whole process (been a while), but I think I had to put the remote into pairing, then add device on the box.. When the box starts pairing, I would press the "back" button, which exit pairing mode from the remote, and then I would immediately re-enter pairing mode on the remote, and press OK. Anyhow, been a while, and would need to retry it, but it is far from being something high on the priority list

In the past, I was always using TS, and did not have many issues with recordings. Can't say I do many recordings (at least not long ones) since I switched to HLS. Only reason I switched to HLS was that at least one of my services, requires HLS for the Catchup feature to work properly. So "if" there is any downside, one would be the catchup feature on some servers only works with HLS.

New Buzz 5 App Update for Android 9 Models - Sept 13th, 2023
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in BuzzTV 5
OK.. I just reproduced it on my B5 With Group channel numbering on, this is not an issue. With Channel Group numbering off, if I'm watching a channel and then from LiveTV stream, I punch is something like "1635" to go to that channel, it changes, but then, even though I was in my favorites and this new channel is also in my favorites, when I hit OK, to scroll through channels, I am in "All Channels" category now. Same thing when in GUIDE mode. Scroll through favorites, and then enter something like "3464" which may even be displayed on your GUIDE of favorites, it will hesitate for a quick sec, switch to "ALL Channels" category, and then show you the 3464 entry. Guess there needs to be some logic added that "IF" the channel is in the same category that you are in presently, then it doesn't need to change to "All Categories". Obviously if it is NOT in your current category, then "All channels" switch is the obvious option. * Channel numbers above are just arbitrary, to describe the issue. -
New Buzz 5 App Update for Android 9 Models - Sept 13th, 2023
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in BuzzTV 5
It's about right... 20 30 seconds for the download, and maybe 10 seconds of a few flashes and restart of buzztv app. This was APP update only, NOT firmware, so it is quick. Doesn't usually matter if it is 1 line of code change, or 200 bug fixes... The app is roughly the same size (plus/minus a bit) regardless. -
Thanks sea157, but unfortunately, I don't have a setup remotely similar to this (yet). All my TVs in the home are pretty old, and most of my testing is done on basic 27" or 32" Computer monitors I concentrate my testing more on the software side of things and how to reproduce any glitches. Everything mentioned in the original post makes 100% sense, but I will let others who have more experience with optimizing video answer this. As you get older and eyesight is not what is used to be, even uncalibrated 720p nowadays looks "good enough". But if the box is relatively new, and not too many customizations yet, then I don't see an issue with experimenting. What's the worst that can happen ? If you mangle something beyond a simple menu option change, you can easily just to a factory reset (pin method) and start from scratch Cheers

Sorry to hear about the situation And when I said "he had legitimate questions" I was referring to you. The questions were pertinent and no you did not get an answer. For the HD5, I honestly have not checked mine. I keep forgetting about it, since it is dangling off the back of one of my 6 monitor setups in my home office, on the second HDMI input. Guess I'll need to check it out in the next few days and see if it is affected. I'll maybe poke allaboutbuzz during the week and see if he has any ideas or some tests I can do to try to isolate the cause.
-
To be fair, he had legitimate questions. If I had not experienced the exact same issue (so knew the details), there would be room for interpretation and he was just trying to ensure it was not a legitimate remote programming issue. The BT400 (included with the X5) is a different beast than the older remotes and can be the source of confusion for many when programming was attempted and failed.

Actually, this issue has been present on some boxes even Pre this last update. I had this issue on my B5 and E5 (and so does another friend [actually 2 of them]). I had reported it, and was told it was fixed, but I think the issue was accidently mistaken for another issue and told it would be included in the next OTA. Well, last OTA came, and it did not fix it. And I re-reported it to allaboutbuzz about 2 weeks ago (Aug 25), but figured with all the other little issues after the last update, he's been too busy to look into it. However after reporting it, I realized that with the new update (1 of my X5 boxes is now also affected - don't recall which one of the 2 - I can check if it makes a difference). It is strange. To rule out any other app conflict, or settings combination, on the E5, I even did a factory reset (pin method). From the reset, the only thing I change is to change the power key definition to shutdown (instead of suspend). All CEC is off, Force max volume is off also, and no other settings are touched. Quick sequence of what I do Power up box Comes up with volume is at max, so I lower it to just under 50% with remote, and then go into live TV Exit Live TV, check volume and it is still at just under 50%, and then do a shutdown Power up box again, and guess what, Volume is at max again. I can still control volume (since force max volume is off). I bring volume down to under 50% again, repeat everything above and it continuously repeatable. I assumed even though CEC was turned off, maybe something to do with the TV/Monitor I was using and forcing something, so I tried on 2 other TV, and made no difference. On the E5 and B5 this was NOT introduced by the update. This was even pre-update. On the one X5 I have reproduced it on, it was only after the update (pre-update it was fine). I strongly suspect something in the internal shutdown script. 2 reasons. First is, that if I set to powerkey definition to suspend, then volume is not affected when you bring it up again. Second (which is the most convincing), is that if I do the whole process above, but instead of shutting down, I pull the power, and then plug it back in to power up, then the volume remains at the last setting. So wondering if there is some sort of reset, volume adjustment or save in the shutdown script which is causing the issue. Anyhow, I am sure they will look at it soon. It's not super critical. Just need to remember to adjust the volume before launching LiveTV, otherwise we can raise the dead (or sleeping) And it is NOT anything to do with the remote itself, since on the B5/E5 it is just basic IR remotes. Even on my X5 (that just started exhibiting this issue after update), I have not configured anything but the basic BT pairing on the remote, since I have it connected to a Computer monitor Cheers

And what does that have to do with BuzzTV 5 (which is the section you posted in) ? BuzzTV 5 is the built in IPTV app of the BuzzTV boxes. This is a support forum for the BuzzTV boxes and integrated apps. Not for 3rd party apps and custom setups.
-
For this section, there should be a basic form before posting... Box model: ___________ Firmware: ___________ BuzzTV5 Version: ___________ Stream type: □ TS □ HLS/M3U Media player for LiveTV: □ Primary □ Backup/Secondary etc...
-
My main boxes are a pair of xrs4900 running latest public (5.0.799). Can't confuse the wife too much. She has gotten used to them, so I'd be in the dog house if I change them on her. But I do have my 2 X5 units, running latest beta. My experience with the players is similar on either boxes. HOWEVER, on the 50.8xx versions just released (and beta), I have to say that the primary player is compatible with more streams. I have a personal M3U with some "free" streams that I use, and in the past I had to sometimes use backup player for it to play. Nowadays, the primary player plays them perfectly without a hitch.
-
I use primary on both my services, and have no issues. I'll often "try" the backup when I have an issue with some "corrupted" stream, but always turns out to be an issue on the server end, which is fixed shortly after. I typically avoid backup, because I find the channel changes are just a little slower.

**NEW** Official U5 Firmware + Buzz 5 App Update - Aug 24th, 2023
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in U5
After you create the MAC server entry and you are in the main SERVER screen, when you select an entry, you will have 2 choices (clearly written on the bottom of screen). Red button is to edit the details of the MAC. Blue button to change MAC. Some servers use the DEVICE ID fields to marry/lock your sub to your receiver. So if you change your device ID, you may need to ask your reseller to do a MAC reset on your account, to force it to clear the fields and re-marry to the next connection. If your server does not use them, then it should have no side effect. They are just another way for the server to identify your receiver.
