  1. If you are still having "Media not supported" issues on BuzzTV 5 on older boxes, they it is time to change providers. I have seen providers that are ALL over the place in terms of encoding. Encoding of channels in 3 or 4 different formats and no consistency. I had a few channels on the main service I watch that needed me to switch to "secondary" player to be able to watch them. Mentioned it to my provider, and in no time, the encoding was changed and no longer need to do that, and all channels work perfectly. But if you do not report it with some details to buzz, it will never get addressed. There are literally thousands of providers out there, and some use very strange codecs and strange settings within codecs. Also, keep in mind, that as with all things, everything is a compromise. Can't add every codec under the sun either. It's different to watch a movie and you want all codecs, and it is different for liveTV channel surfing. For LiveTV you need the player to be responsive. If it take 2 or 3 seconds on every channel change to tune into and start playing a channel, it would be VERY annoying. For watching VOD, even if it take 5 seconds to get started, who really cares.
  2. If all else fails, you can do a total hard reset of the box. You will need to re-setup/re-configure everything however if you have not taken a backup in BuzzTV 5. Here are the instructions: https://stbtalk.com/topic/300-factory-reset-hard-reset-xr4500-xrs4500/
  3. Technically, I'd prefer one of the other remotes that have IR learn keys for that kind of stuff (IR100, IR200, BT100, BT200, BT250 and now the BT350). You can learn the Power keys from the various TVs and just assign them to the different keys. One TV directly on the TV Power key, one to the "Source" button, and even others if you have and want to the "tv vol + and -" buttons (since they are separate from the box volume). On the Smart remotes (BT300, BT400, BT500) not that simple. First instinct would be to try manually programming the remote to the second TV (assuming it is one of the main brands supported), and then use HDMI CEC to control the main TV. But the issues is that programming the remote to the second TV would also assign the Volume buttons. So short of being to same brands with same code for power button (like Ryu) mentioned, I don't think so.
  4. I just got my buddies Boomerang Mate 1 to try to update it (has been powered off for ages), but obviously nothing on server (not surprised consider how old it is). Current state is: V20190207 with V2.0(239) presently installed. Did a hard factory reset ,I tried installing the buzz 352 software (as posted above) which I already had and used to update his (and mine) old xpl3000 [and had no issues with the xpl3000 units], but it gives me an error "BuzzTV 2, App not installed. The package conflicts with an existing package by the same name". Tried installing from Appinstaller and File Browser that are preinstalled. Not sure what package it doesn't like, because the main package on the mate1 seems to be com.boomerang.* while the buzz ones (including 352, are com.buzztv.*. So maybe it is some common dependencies. All I really wanted to do is install a later version of BuzzTV 2, so he has the "streaming line" option, to be able to use it with w$%^#d and XC connection. The xpl3000 after updating to 352 and enabling streaming line and credentials works fine. A little slow (by todays standards), but it works quite well. Even tried checking recovery screen if there was some way to install the apk by forcing it, but I did not find anything. However when I used to have an old boomerang myself, I could have sworn I had taken an update which pretty much rebranded it to a buzz box, and even replaced the boomerang logo on the top left with a buzz logo. If that update was still available somehow for use with a microsd card to update the box, that would be great. I really don't want to install something like "smar..." app to use it with XC API.
  5. Try to understand. As DU mentioned, Buzztv5 is an APP on your Buzz Classic. The issue you are describing has NOTHING to do with BuzzTV 5. BuzzTV 5 is what allows you to watch LiveTV, VOD, TV Series, and record, etc.. Any further discussion regarding this issue should be moved over to the Classic thread.

    Android 14

Like DU said, NO. Why would you even think they would ? They have only even just VERY recently released new boxes with Android 13. And Buzz does not typically upgrade the OS on their boxes.
  7. If you are in an APP, it will NOT trigger the screen saver. You NEED to be on the HOME screen... On BuzzTV 5, there is an option to "Auto Shut off App". I have it set to 2hrs, and then once the app exits, it will drop you to home screen. And then when the inactivity kicks in the screen saver will come on. If you are in an APP, it assumes you are active, so no screen saver.

When you are trying to enter letters, if the on screen keyboard still active you probably have to exit the On screen keyboard and ensure your cursor is on the input field (if you expect to have any chance of it working). This is a 3rd party remote. No one guaranteed 3rd party remote compatibility.
  9. I know windscribe has 2 versions for Android. One for generic Android boxes, and one for AndroidTV (tagged as for the Nvidia Shield). I always use the AndroidTV version since it is the one that the remote works as expected with it, without needing mouse cursor. I know the Android 9 boxes were not AndroidTV, but either way, it works beter even on those. Try downloading the AndroidTV version and manually install that and see if it is any better. https://downloads.nordcdn.com/apps/android/generic/nordvpn-sideload/latest/v2/NordVPN_TV.apk
  10. Send a PM to aab with the details on which server you are talking about. As he said. Can't fix what they can't reproduce. Each server is slightly different.
  11. Just curious, if anyone can tell me what the LATEST version of BUZZTV 2 that was ever deployed and working to the MATE 1 box ? I have a buddy of mine, who still has one, and just checked and he has 2.0 (239)on his box. It unfortunately does not seem to have the "Streaming line" option to use with XC servers. I tried just enabling the Credentials option, but does not seem to be sufficient. I sent him the APK that we used on the xpl3000 to try to bring it up to (352) which I know has the streaming line option, but when he tries to install it, he gets an error that "the package conflicts with another package with the same name". He tried through app installer and through file browser, and same result. I would have tried to do it through recovery, but I don't think there is an option to install an APK through recovery, just a ZIP package I think. It's nothing super urgent, but he wanted it for the TV in his Garage. He already has a Classic in his living room and an old xpl3000 in bedroom that both work great.
  12. Do you have another device you can check with ? Or check using BuzzTV 5 on the P6, just to ensure it is not your service ?
  13. What else is there to do when you are in boring meetings, listening to management yap about a bunch of BS . 3 screens dedicated to my work Laptop/PC, and the 4th screens dedicated to buzz boxes And I have added the buzz boxes to a 3 way HDMI video switcher to be able to compare.
  14. One thing I noticed (not sure it it has always been like that), is that the CH+/CH- work fine in the Channel list view (actually they behave like PG+/PG- like they do in BuzzTV 5). However when you go left to bring up the categories, you need to scroll through them one by one (CH+/CH- have no effect in the category list). And if you press the actual PG+/PG- on the remote, then the list does scroll up/down by a page at a time, but nothing is selected, so when you try to then use the DPAD, it selects the next/previous category of where you were. Also, same when you are in the EPG view, you need to scroll through one at a time. In this case, even PG+/PG- have no effect. If you can eventually enable the CH+/CH- shortcuts to behave as PG+/PG- in the category list and EPG views/menus. ----- Also noticed that the PIN entry is a little "different" . On BuzzTV 5, if you select a locked channel, you get the Pin ENTRY and you can enter it directly on the remote (ex: 0000), and press OK, and it would accept it as end of input and unlock the channel. On BuzzTV 6, if you get a PIN entry, the keyboard auto pops up, and you can enter 0000 as an example directly on the remote, but if you then press OK, it will register as having selected the "1" button which is on the top left of the on screen keyboard. You would have to hit the back button to get rid of the onscreen keyboard (and even then, not enough, because if you hit OK, it brings the keyboard back up). One you get rid of the keyboard, then you have to hit down on the dpad, "twice for some reason", to select the "unlock" button. Thank you
  15. I noticed that, but I did not have a chance to test earlier. I just did a quick test and seems to work as expected. I did encounter the highlighting issue for an instance, but not sure how I did it, but since you already know about it, I won't try to get any more details on it for now. But right now, it works pretty well. Noticed some other issues with scrolling within category list and epg, and PIN entry, but I will post those in the wishlist Thanks again.
  16. The specs were given to you, including the datasheet. You did not need to mention/compare to any other boxes. And even when you do, what is written on paper and what they actually deliver and under what conditions are 2 different things. Like I mentioned, no box is perfect for all situations. Every box has it's strengths and weaknesses and compromises are always made. Choices are made for reasons that none of us can speculate (cost, complexity, strategic partnerships, etc..). And we'll probably never know since most are under NDA. You take take the info you are given, and you make a choice that is right for you depending on your needs and desires..
  17. You can check this thread out. It also references the original one, but also contains new links. https://stbtalk.com/topic/14095-new-buzz-5-app-update-version-935-june-5th-2024/?do=findComment&comment=34387 Or you can just email Buzz, and they will take care of you.
  18. It's never show up in your PVR menu. There is an internal xml file that is created which includes more info, like file location, EPG info, etc.. So just adding the files to the directory, will not make them show up. Put your old files on a USB stick, and you can then play them with VLC if you want. But obviously the naming of the files will be something to decipher. And FYI, BuzzTV 5 is NOT beta, and has not been for YEARS!!! You just took forever to upgrade to BuzzTV 5
  19. Lol.. Zidoo may seem to support on paper. Question is, does Zidoo support YOU after sale, when it does not work as advertised. If you use something like Plex, enjoy trying to get your Zidoo working as expected. And it is radio silence on their part and even to try to fix stuff (that is advertised as supported), everything they recommend is a "workaround" instead of fixing it. And truth be told, 90% of users would not even use those features anyhow or have the rest of the equipment to take advantage of it. It is for about the 10% of users, but most of them have probably already realized that it is all about compromises with streaming boxes. Like I've always said, there is no PERFECT box. They all have weaknesses, flaws and issues. And if anyone tells you otherwise, don't believe them. As an example of weaknesses, The 9x you mentioned only has 2GB of ram, which will be very limiting for some newer apps, and the fact that it only has BT 4.2 could be a dealbrealer for those with bluetooth soundbars and headphones. Everything is about compromises, depending on what is important to you. Where a company shines, is on their support on issues which they advertise as supported. Obviously this box is not for you. Move on.
  20. OK here is an UPDATE after correcting my network issues (defective port on switch which kept dropping back to 100Mbps) I retested the P6, X5 128AI, the X5 SS, and the Classic using wired connection, using the onboard ethernet ports and using Analiti to test. My ISP network speed (what I am paying for, is 400Mbps down, and 50 Mbps up). On all of the boxes, my download speed was recorded as 440Mbps to 445Mbps. So pretty much maxing out my connection ( a lot better than previously) However on the Upload speeds all boxes, except the X5 SS, recorded 49Mbps to 54Mbps which also max out my connection. The X5 SS however was the only exception and I could not get it to register anything more than 18Mbps on the upload. Using same exact cable as the other boxes. I tried a clean reboot, I even tried using a USB3 to Eth adapter, just in case, and in all cases, the upload speed remained around the same. I know this is a Powerstation thread, but If someone can test the X5 SS, with a wired connection, just to see if it is consistent with my results, on the upload, it would be appreciated.
  21. OK.. I will reserve the right to update my posting above sometime tomorrow. Something is presently wrong with one of my managed switches, which is causing an artificial bottleneck on one VLAN. I will reboot everything later, and if it persists, I will replace the switch tomorrow with a spare and the re-post the results. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  22. I am always connected via cable. And yes it seems to be limited to 90Mbps (even on my 500Mbps connection). I tried with onboard ethernet and I also tried at least 4 different brand/models of USB or USB-C to Gigabit adapters. Good thing, they were all recognized on the P6 and the X5 SS. But they all yield the exact same result. I have 0 need for anything faster than that anyhow for streaming. And cable (even if it is slower) is always more stable than any Wifi connection. Even BluRay is only 40Mbps and if you are pulling raw 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc rips, they have a maximum video bitrate of 128 Mbps, but pretty sure most don't even go nearly that high, and rips are typically more compressed than that. Until 8K media is mainstream and assuming codec don't improve, I'm pretty sure most people will be hard pressed to need more than 90Mbps, especially from online streaming services. Even Netflix says you need 5 Mbps to stream HD content and 25 Mbps for 4K Ultra HD content, so still a far cry from the 90Mbps the box presently does. Only thing I can see that would need more than that, is if you are going to be transferring large files form local network, to the box, where faster speed would be nice. But other than that, I don't see the issue for streaming.
  23. When you say factory reset, did you do a HARD (using PIN method) or SOFT (just through the menus) reset ? If you did a soft reset, do a HARD RESET. Same as this procedure: https://stbtalk.com/topic/300-factory-reset-hard-reset-xr4500-xrs4500/ On Classic you can use the button that is on the side of the box instead of sticking pin in the A/V hole. Also, if you have Timeshift enabled or any of the other options (like RealTime streaming, etc..) turn them off.
  24. I just have my powerkey definition set to "shutdown" and it takes an extra minute to power up, and never have any issues.

if your portal URL is something like: hxxp://myportal.url:2060/whatever Then just open a command prompt on your PC, and type "ping myportal.url" it it replies, the server is probably up. If it gives you an error or does not reply or times out, odds are the server is down. Or just message your reseller.
