Not at home right now, but I was pretty sure the FIRST time you try to PLAY a VOD after you select "external" it will give you the typical android prompt at the bottom to choose which player to use and you select "once" or "always" also. If you select a player and "always" then it doesn't ask you subsequently. Otherwise how does it know WHICH external player to use ? I am pretty sure during testing I have used VLC, MX player and even the simple HB player.

ISP blocking would be intermittent. They typically block in the evenings and during major sporting events. And obviously every IPTV service uses different sources for the streams, so just because it works on one service, does not mean the other service is not affected. I have a few services and not all services are affected. The X5 should already have VLC preinstalled (assuming you did not remove it). And external VLC can only be used for VOD/TV Series. And when you select it and then choose a movie to play, you'd get a popup, asking you to choose a player. As a test, you can try installing a VPN on your box and when you have the problem, connect to VPN, and then try again to play. ProtonVPN is free for single connection, and Windscribe also offers 10GB/month for free if you sign up with your email (10GB should be enough to test for a few hours).

BuzzTV 5 is the software that is running on the box. What Box model do you have (B5, E5, HD5, X5, etc..) ? What type of SUB do you have ? MAC, XC, M3U ? Are you sure the issue is not your provider ? Just as a test, have you tried installing and using other software (ex: STBEmu if you are using MAC sub, or IPTV Smarters if you are using XC type sub) ? Are you sure the issue is not your ISP blocking ? In some countries, ISP have recently started blocking many IPTV streams. The only way around it, is to use a VPN service to bypass the blocking. PS: Just as a reference, for the service I use, I typically use Primary player for LiveTV (since it makes for faster and smoother channel changes), and Backup for my VOD/TV Series. I have also use EXternal (and selected VLC) in some cases when I thought the VOD had an issue.

Have your reseller do a reset on your device on his panel before you give up. And I assume you are NOT trying to use both new and old box, back and forth ?
-
What type of SUB ? MAC, XC, M3U ? In the BuzzTV 5 configuration settings, what do you have the stream type set to ? Did you by any chance enable the real time streaming or tunneled playback options ?

When you try to press the buttons does LED in the top center light up ? I know it is long shot, but it happened to me once when my wife dropped a remote, so check to see if the remote has ever so slightly split apart on the bottom end (which affected the membrane contact to the board below). Try to squeeze the remote closed where the Buzz logo is (ie: squeeze between the buzz logo and the battery cover on the back). Maybe try one other set of batteries, just in case it is bad luck and you got some duds. If no LED, batteries are good, and it is squeezed tight shut, there is not much else to a remote. I'd say you possibly got a defective remote

When he says image, I think he meant the images in the instructions. Not the ZIP file attachement. They images were direct links to images hosted on buzztv and zendesk and seems like they no longer exist for the most part.

I tried it just before I posted earlier. Just checked again and below is a picture. However like aab mentioned above, it seems to the server needs to support/allow you to "download". If you don't see the download option, I guess the server you are using does not permit downloading catchup.
-
When in channel list. and you go on a channel that has catch-up, you can press "right" on the DPAD to get the full EPG. Then you can scroll up and find the program you want. When you are on a show that aired previously, you should have a new option in the color button section, and I think Blue is "download". You don't "record" it, you "download" it. PS: Keep in mind that some feed are 30 seconds to 2 minutes delayed from actual airtime. So when downloading (unlike recording) you don't have the option of extra minutes to be able to catch a few extra minutes before and after the recording. So depending HOW much the stream has lagged, you may miss a few seconds from the beginning or the end. Typically it is just commercials or credits, but something to keep in mind.

First of all, we don't specify services by name here. Just curious, did you try using XC API instead ? Use the base URL ( h t t p:/your.site.name ) as the portal. Then use the username/password which are typically embedded in the M3U string. If the issue persists, I recommend sending an email to buzztv customer service (obviously you won't get a reply for a few days considering the holidays), but they need to be able to reproduce it, in order the be able to fix it. I have no issue with M3U with 3 other playlists I use.

Even if you connected via the A/V port, or the Optical port, you'd have to connect it to a PC or some other device in order to record/capture it. My computer monitor has an Audio out port (which I use to connect a small soundbar to) and it can extract the audio from HDMI input and output it over that 3.5mm jack. What I typically do is use the Free version of Spotify, create my playlists (limit playlists to 100 songs per), then create a share link for my list, and then use one of the multitude of online Spotify to MP3 downloaders online. They typically find and download the MP3 audio for the songs, typically from the youtube videos I do it all the time for my kids when we travel. They send me their playlist, I download them, and they just put the MP3 files on their phones. But you can put them anywhere you want obviously.

Since it is a Samsung, you may even get many of the integrated single remote functions to work with it. However even if it doesn't workout for single remote programming, you could always just use it with 2 separate remotes (one for the Buzz box and one for your TV - not a big deal really). I even use many buzz boxes with basic 24" and 27" computer monitors which have an HDMI in and audio out. I plug in a set of computer speakers to the monitor. I even have one where I actually connected it to a computer monitor, and for speakers I had an old Dell sound bar which was USB driven, and plugged it directly into my Buzz box and surprisingly it recognized it an routed audio to it. Happy holidays.

**NEW** L1 Firmware Update + Buzz 6 V1.0.87 App Update
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in Linux Player
I haven't had a chance to update the L1 yet, but on the P6, I checked earlier and mine says max 2, active 1. I would have expected it to say active 2 (since wife was also watching upstairs on the 4900). I am wondering if it is just reporting (active connections -1). Did you guys have any other boxes streaming at the same time ? I haven't checked a sub with more than 2 max connections, but I can check that tomorrow night. Due to the fact that I increased the text size on the P6 (yes, it's called old age) , there seems to be some minor overwrite (due to text wrap) on the text in the account info screen, but you can easily tell it is active connections 1. -
The Classic and one of my 4900 are my recorder and they just work. The Classic it is the box I always recommend to friends who are looking to get a buzz. Still the best bang for the buck in my opinion. It's also the box I tend to lend to friends when they want to try a buzz box before they buy one, and they typically get hooked right away and always end up ordering one. But X5 or Classic, you can't go wrong. However having said that, recording from MAC server can be tricky. If the app is still running in the background and it is still has a stream open, then it may fail because it will try to fork another stream, which MAC server only supports a single stream and can get disconnected. I don't know all the logic for the recording stream, but if it is always going to be recording the same channel, you "may" increase the odds of success if you change to that channel that will be recorded before exiting.

You didn't need to revive and 8 month old post ? Could have started your own thread. A little more info would help. What model box do you have ? When you press buttons on the remote, is there any LED or sign of life on the remote. Have you changed the batteries with a fresh set ? Check the Remote factory reset section and try to reset the remote: https://buzztv.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/BT400-300_manual_MOBILE_v6_Compress.pdf

It's called "crooks". I've seen it locally also, with some of the asking prices by bundling everything together and getting clueless customers to fall for it. I personally don't even want to sell people a box. I give them the link to buzztvglobal, tell them what they should buy and then I set them up with a service.
-
Buzz sells hardware only. They do NOT sell services. If you bought the box with a promise of service, you got scammed, consider it a lesson, and move on You will need to visit a different forum to find another service, since this forum does not discuss services. If you paid more than you would have from the web site below, then you obviously overpaid. And with current holiday promo, the prices are pretty good. https://buzztvglobal.com/collections/buzztv-boxes

The Classic is a great box and it runs on BuzzTV 5, with Android 11. The newest box, the Powerstation, is running BuzzTV 6 along with Android 13. I am pretty sure all new features (and requests) will eventually be added to BuzzTV 6. Not sure too many new features will be added to BuzzTV 5. They do add a few occasionally, but they are mostly bug fixes nowadays. And there has been no mention if BuzzTV 6 will even be migrated to Series 5 boxes so I would not count on it. Right now, only 2 boxes run Android 13 (Powerstation and X5 SS). And only 2 boxes are running BuzzTV 6 (the Powerstation and the Linux Player). The X5 SS, for now, is still running BuzzTV 5. This does NOT make the Classic a bad box, it is actually still the box I mostly recommend to friends. Best bang for the buck for IPTV. I understand your requests, and I did make the request for adding in BuzzTV 6, using SMB shares for recording/playback (since it is something I would like to see also). However to get realistic, there are feature that less than 15% of the users would even use (or even know how to configure). So for most people the features presently available on BuzzTV 5 are more than sufficient. The adding of SMB for recording shares, is not a tiny new feature. It is quite involved in both firmware and buzz software. So I would not hold my breath to ever see it on 5 series boxes. However, adding an "end date" to recording of multi-day recordings, may be something we see in BuzzTV 5, since it is a little simpler I assume to do. Not making any promises (since I don't work/code for Buzz), but this might be something we see in 2025

BuzzTV6 Application: Wishlist for New Features and Enhancements
Emporium replied to Stugots's topic in PowerStation
Future Feature Request: Mounting and RECORDING/DOWNLOADING to an network shared folder One nice thing to see would be the option to mount an SMB or NFS share (like on a NAS) and use that as a destination for Recordings/Downloads. Also, if in the same directory or subdirectory it can include whatever file (xml or whatever...) is needed to be able to get the show info (show name, epg description if there was any, channel, etc..). That way if you have more than one Buzz box, they can point to the same directory, and everyone can share everyone's recordings/downloads. A huge bonus would be to also have the filenames something more informative (like first 20 characters of show description, followed by date/time of recording). That way when you look at the directory, you have a good idea of what the media files are. Right now, they look like random names, but I am sure it has something to do with the stream URL. Thanks. -
Well, the short answer to both your questions is NO. For the schedule of multi-day recordings, once you set a schedule, it will continue to do it, until you cancel it. There is no counter. Now for the recording to be accessible from multiple devices. If you are using an external USB drive to store your recordings, there is not much that can be done really. Short of pulling the USB stick, putting it into the other device you want to watch your episodes on, and then using something like VLC to browse to the directory the recordings are stored in and playing them, assuming you can figure out what episode is which (I guess you could use the dates), because the names of the files are useless for identifying them Now if the are stored on the internal storage, you can enable network shares on the device (I believe in BuzzTV utilities) you may want to access remotely. This will expose the "internal storage" only of the box as an SMB share. Then from the other box you can use VLC, and browse network share and go to the location the recordings are stored on the internal drive (\\CLASSIC-5\Internal\Android\media\buzzxr4000.tv) . CLASSIC-5 is the name of the device (make sure the 2 units have a different name to be able to distinguish them). However once again, you will have the issue with the names being useless for recognizing what you recorded. And you will probably run out of internal storage pretty quickly. Would be nice if there was the option to record to an SMB share (like a NAS) and also have some sort of xml file associated with each recording, which would contain the relevant info of each recording (Program name, date/time it was recorded, any EPG description that was available at the time,etc..) so that way if any buzztv client used the same destination for PVR, it would be able to pick up and play recording from any other device. Unfortunately, this feature does not exist, and don't think that at this stage it would be added to BuzzTV 5. New features are probably being concentrated on BuzzTV 6 right now, which at this time, there is no plans to roll it out on 5 series devices. Guess I'll add that to the BuzzTV 6 wishlist if no one has already requested it.

And the E5 is a step up from the B5, which is pretty nice also With the sale, the Classic was pretty much the same price as the E5. I'm sure they'll have an xmas or boxing day sale if you can wait.
-
You say bug with latest update. Did it ever work ? Don't forget, the Classic never came with Voice search remote, and probably no capabilities for it either. Just because you add a voice remote, does not suddenly give the box voice capabilities.
