**NEW** Official U5 Firmware + Buzz 5 App Update - October 12th, 2022
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in U5
If you are a little tech savvy, check this out: If you don't, then contact Buzz directly and they will take care of you. -
I have not tried it on the X5, since I have it wired. But I was just speaking in general about some previous android boxes. I think it also depends a lot on your WiFi. Like I said, my old cheap router I had all sorts of strange issues. Switched to high end WiFi access points (Cisco Aironet 2800 series), and have not had issues with most of my equipment since then.
-
Are you putting your x5 into suspend mode when you turn it off, or is it a full shutdown ? Mine are all hardwired, but I recall many android boxes over the years when I would use them with WiFi, I often had issues for them to reconnect, or would take forever to reconnect if coming out of a suspend mode (those that supported suspend). After I replaced my old router with new access points, the problem seemed to go away for the most part (but still happened on occasion). From then, what I would do, is ensure my box was set to do a full shutdown, so each time I powered it on, yes it took 30 seconds more to boot, but it was always a clean boot and never had those kind of issues when doing clean boot. Hell even some windows laptops are braindead when they come out of suspend mode.

XRS 4900 Update OFFICIAL FIRMWARE + BUZZ 5 UPDATE- October-18th-2022

I don't use Wifi either. Mine are all hardwired. But I believe it is the same network chip internally that handles the WiFi and BT. I could be wrong, however -
XRS 4900 Update OFFICIAL FIRMWARE + BUZZ 5 UPDATE- October-18th-2022
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in XRS4900
I have 2x 4900 boxes. On my older box box, I "sometimes" (not too often) get a message that Bluetooth has stopped. I press the return key a few times, it goes away and everything works fine after that (including the Bluetooth - for the remote at least). On my other box (which is newer), I never get that message. I suspect that over the numerous updates (including Betas) something has gotten latched somewhere. I've been meaning to do a full reset on that box, but have not done so yet. Changing primary servers in a few weeks on that box, so I may use that as an opportunity to start clean. But it happens so rarely (and I know my box is overdue for a reset), that I have completely ignored it. One thing that did help however is to go into the Network settings and cycle the Wifi on, wait 5 seconds ,and then cycle it back on. When I do that, I go for weeks before seeing the message again. -
If you wish to factory reset your remote to erase all settings press and hold the D-Pad Down button and the 0 (Zero) button for 4 seconds until it blinks 3 times to indicate the remote is factory reset. https://buzztv.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/BT400-300_manual_WEB_v6_Compress.pdf

If you have formatted your media as FAT32, then the max file size is 4GB. So that "may" be the limitation you are experiencing. You would probably be better off putting your drive onto a PC, and formatting it as exFAT which does not have that single file size limitation. Have you tried temporarily (as a test) trying to save it to the internal storage ?
-
No. BuzzTV 5 was only targetted for boxes running Android 9 and above. If I am not mistaken, the Mate 1 is on Android 7.1. So was for the xr4000 and above boxes. The Buzz 3000 series, Mate 1, and even the E1 series are not included.

My experience with the buffering with TS on, was with the X5. However, this was with a previous firmware version, and with a USB key which may have been problematic, so there are few different variable. However, It is a simple test (to disable it - if enabled - and see if it is any better).
-
If you are using the Timeshift option (under PVR options), try disabling it. I did have an issue with buffering not long ago, but changed media and seems to be fine now. But when I had the issue, Turing off Timeshift would no longer buffer.
-
Huh ? I just tried it on my 4900 and if I turn off TS and change channels to ensure TS is not still active... Then if I try to pause (on a channel with no catch-up), it completely ignores it (does nothing - which is what I expect). Tried with both Primary and backup players just in case. Now, surprisingly, if I try that on a channel that supports catch-up, then it will pause, but when I try to resume, it just hangs, and after playing with a few keys it finally gives me the dialog to "switch to liveTV". But it does not resume gracefully if TS is off, and you try it on a channel that supports catch-up. At least not on the server I am using. If TS is on, and I have it setup to go to my SSD sata drive I have installed internally, it pauses and resumes without a hitch, nice and smoothly. @Myojohn since you don't have them, that confirms that that was only added as of Buzztv5 (which you don't have yet).
-
Should be plenty (you can even limit the cache size. Not sure if it is available on BuzzTV4, I think it was introduced in BuzzTV5. You go into the menu, pvr, pvr options, and you will have an option for Timeshift in there, and a few other related options under that. But like you said, you will probably see that once you upgrade to 5.
-
On buzztv 5 as long as you are using the Primary player, and Timeshift (TS) is turned on in the setting (and a decent USB storage used), then you should be able to pause LiveTV.
-
You went into Update screen and then after checking for an update you hit "2015" on your remote ? And nothing happened ?

The are working on getting TWRP backup/restore working on Android 11 boxes. It's not a huge issue for me, since I keep all my latest apks that I typically install, on a single USB stick. So if I have to reset, reinstalling all my apps takes less than 10 minutes and maybe another 10 or 15 minutes to configure them. Now if you install something like Kodi and piles of plugins with all sorts of customizations, I can see where the backup would be handy. The one thing that would be useful (for me at least), would be to be able export "my favorites" (per service) to some sort of backup file (xml or other form) and then be able to restore them after a reset or clear data of the buzztv 5 data. But for now, it is not a huge deal since it is not something I do frequently anyhow.

Buzz5 Beta keep crashing while keep changing channels
Emporium replied to G2P's topic in BuzzTV 5 beta
Have you tried selecting the other video player (if you have primary selected for live TV, switch to backup, or vice versa) and see if it is any better. -
**NEW** Official U5 Firmware + Buzz 5 App Update - September 22nd, 2022
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in U5
Don't see any mention of a fix in the latest firmware that was just released. BUT I decided to test it anyway and I could not reproduce the issue. I tried for about 20 minutes channel surfing back and forth just like before (where it was not difficult to reproduce before). @Kone& @Wes Bullardcan you take the latest update, and then try to see if the problem persists ? For me, it seems to have corrected whatever the issue was (at least for now). I'll do more testing later this week and onitor it. Thanks -
The BuzzTV app does not have a browser integrated. It takes a server URL and/or user/password input for MAC and/or XC login style iptv subs. Or an M3U file as input. Now, if you are a little bit tech savvy, you could probably set up a simple script on the NAS server which would regularly run and create a M3U file of all the media files available on your NAS, and then just point to the M3U file on your local server. I don't see how different that would be from using an IPTV sever sub really. You could easily get some M3U file format examples. With a little trial and error it should not be too hard. But VLC is pretty simplistic, and supports SMB shares making it super simple. And the interface works pretty well through a remote, so no need for any simulated mouse pointers to get to some features.

Compatibility of 3rd party remotes is always a hit an miss. And the mapping of some keys can also be way off on some. I have some remotes, where the channel flashback key is on the remote "search/magnifying glass" key. And the menu key, is mapped to the "record" key. However I have never had an issue that I have not found a mapped key for the "back" button. Have you tried the emulated right mouse button keys on the keyboard ? Short of trial and error, there is not much "you" can do as an end user. Since Bluetooth has limited range, and as you have already noticed, you are better off with an RF based remote which use USB dongles. Maybe getting something like the Buzz ARQ-100 (or the newer ARQ-200 series) would be an option to look at in the future.
-
Don't think the basic E1 is powerful enough to handle buzztv5 and was never planned to go to v5 as far as I know. Like Ryu mentioned, only Android 9 and up were planned. The E1 is running 7.1.2. However you already have a later version that I am on the E1. What version of "firmware" are you running (settings->updates). My E1 is at firmware version V20201123. And Buzz version 4.0.489, updated 11/11/2020 It is slow (compared to my other units - which is expected), but I am not having any crashing issues however. Not sure what the latest version available is (the the E1), but maybe I will try the "V20211016" file which is under the E1 download section of this site, since mine is older.

Are any of these 200 series remotes available to purchase separately at the moment from any of the legit buzz sources ? I've seen the ARQ-200 now being offered as part of bundle deals with boxes, but I have not seen it sold on it's own yet. example: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/buzztv-xrs-4500-2022-edition-arq-200/14498785 I have seen one site only which seems to offer the ARQ-200 and 250, but not sure how legit it is, since it also promote some iptv services (so I will not post it here). Do we have any more details (or manuals) for the ARQ-200/220 or 250 ? Are the colored buttons on these remotes also transmitted over the RF/USB dongle (and supported by the current boxes) ? Or are they programmable IR only as with the typical mx3 clone style remotes (that look similar) that you can find all over amazon ? Thnx
