  1. I did have the exact same problem a while back on one of my 2 4900 units. But I played with the WiFi toggle a few times back then, and it went away and never had an issue again. It was strange. I have 2 units, and both were at exact same firmware/software levels and even tried swapping remotes, add remotes with USB dongle, etc.. and there was no definitive one item that I know that fixed it, but I assumed it was the WiFi toggling, since often the same chip that handles the WiFi, handles the BT. Still didn't explain why IR would not respond either, but it just fixed itself and have not had an issue since. The secon unit, never exhibited this behaviour. When you say you did a hard reset, you mean you did a pin reset, through the hold pin in , power up, scroll down menu and wipe factory reset, right ? Do you have any HDD or usb drive installed ? If so try removing them.
  2. Pin reset will erase everything. Including favorites. Just curious, I have to ask, since many have made the mistake. You are actually using the power supply that came with your U5, and not a power supply from a previous Buzz box ? Reason I ask, is because the U5 uses a 12V power supply, which most others (except the xrs4900) all use a 5V power supply. The U5 will power up, and seem to work with the 5V power supply, but can be unstable. You need to use the 12V one that came with the U5. You can contact buzz about it. But if it will end up to send it back for a replacement or whatever they decide, you may as well do the pin reset. Yes you will lose your favorites (but you would also if they swap the box). So you have nothing more to lose, except potentially fixing the issue and avoiding to sent it back. With the next OTA update they will probably be including a "backup" option (to be able to backup favorites and other stuff), but I have no idea and can't make ay promises on when the next update will be going out. All i know, is that it has ben included a while back in the beta version.
  3. Are you using a traditional mechanical internal hard drive, SSD, or none ?
  4. Are you using WiFi or are you wired ? If you are wired, try turning on the WiFi (don't need to connect), just make sure it is enabled. If it is enabled, trying toggling it on/off. When I had a similar issue with my 4900 ages ago, it was because I was hardwired, and I had manually disabled the WiFi. Re-enabled WiFi (even though still hardwired), and the issues went away.
  5. NOTHING has changed on the 4900. No updates of firmware or buzztv software. So either your providers have suddenly changed something (which is strange if more than one at the same time, unless they are all fleecing the same source with no re-encoding. Or Maybe your provider is doing some restrictions (like locking to specific "agents" only) and therefore it will refuse to play on some players. I don't know if you mentioned what type of login you are using (MAC, XC, M3U) but when you are in live TV, press menu-->settings-->configuration and scroll all the way to the bottom. Do you have an option for stream type ? If so, try toggling from TS to M3U/HLS and see if that makes a difference.
  6. Does not matter if you have VLC installed also. The one you have installed is NOT the one used by buzztv 5 for liveTV. VLCLib is linked into the buzztv5 app, and that is what it uses regardless of what you have installed externally. For VOD however, you can choose external, and choose VLC (or anything else) if you prefer.
  7. I "thing" the beta list on 4000 devies was reset at one point (I think after buzztv 5 was no longer considered beta for the 4000 series). I was on beta on my 4900 also for ages, and now it is also at public (.799). My X5 however is on latest beta (so way past .799)
  8. Android itself as an OS is not the issue. The issue are drivers that are at the base for this issue. Suspend mode is not like turning off the screen. It is a low power state of the CPU, and stuff are not running in suspend (except for the occasional NMI/Alarm that is available to wake up the box. But sometimes drivers have an issue when they resume, since they do not go through a full h/w init cycle. Just like many older Windows PCs, that act funny when they come out of standby, which for ages microsoft would just disable the standby option since it was the cause for many instabilities. Windows PCs have gotten better at resuming from standby, but you still occasionally need a reboot, and it will force you anyhow every so often after some types of updates so you can't go too long before a forced reboot anyhow. For your phone, the issue is often crappy coded apps which drain battery. Not an Android issue, but rather an app issue. Apple has it's own issues. Anyhow, this is not and android/apple forum (it's for buzz boxes), so I will leave it at that.
  9. This is an issue with 90+% of the boxes out there (not just buzz). Issue is that some of the drivers don't really like suspend modes, and after a while they just misbehave. It is primarily the network drivers, so obviously everything slows down and bizarre connectivity issues. These drivers are not in source form, they are typically binary blobs, so not a huge control by the box manufacturers. This is the main reason why if you read most forums it is strongly recommended to just shutdown the unit instead of suspend. Yes, it takes an extra 10 seconds, but you know you have a clean boot all the time. If it was a 2 minute boot time, then I can see the attraction towards a suspend option. But for only 10 to 15 seconds for a clean boot, I don't think it is worth it. Especially if you eventually have issues and still need to restart anyhow.
  10. I call BS on their side. X5 software has not changed in over 4 months so it is obviously not the box. All of a sudden there is an issue ? It is probably not your internet either, since Error 520 is a cloudflare connectivity issue due to an empty server response.
  11. That is for sure. None are immune to issues. But the difference is that when one of my premium services has an issue, there is someone who listens and tries to address the problems at the source. For some of the "bargain" services out there, you may as well send you messages to /dev/null (ie: black hole), because they don't care.
  12. OK. So this is a service similar to those many of my acquaintances buy as "backup" service from fleabay or ali*** . These services are fine for "backups" but if you rely on these for your day to day TV watching, it will be an exercise is frustration, and always with some new issue with no one to voice them to. Good luck with that. 2 of the services I use (which I'm sure are common with what DU is using), you post a concern or issue about the service on the forum and it either gets fixed within minutes, or you get a reply on why it is happening and how it will be addressed shortly. Like it was mentioned: "you get what you pay for"
  13. I have 0 issues on any of my services for Newsmax, on any of my Buzz tv boxes, from my 4500, B5, E5, Classic, HD5, X5 or even my U5. Primary player works for all of them. My services have a proper feed for Newsmax (which hosts all the fox news rejects), under the US channel category. Many bargain services out there, only have the "Pluto, Xumo, Plex_USA, Localnow and other free streaming service feeds" versions. And those are often in a different format which older versions of VLCLib (which is what I believe the primary player on Buzz is based on) did not like much. I am running the latest BuzzTV Beta (which was released earlier today) on my X5 , and I can confirm to you that all those "secondary stream" channels which had an issue playing on the Primary player are no longer an issue (at least on my services). So you either wait for the next public release to go out which includes a newer version of the Primary player, or complain to your provider to create a proper main stream for your channel.

    Updates

Most probably. The last Public release was in April 2023 (5.0.799) - just before the summer. It has only been just over 4 months. And it was not only on the U5, it was on all their 5 series boxes (android 11) and on the 4000 series (Android 9) boxes, and the E2 if I recall. 4 months is not exactly that long. When adding a bunch of features, it is important to ensure there is no regression on existing features, on all the platforms it is intended for. You'd be surprised sometimes on how the smallest change (which may seem cosmetic), can have a domino effect on a bunch of other features. You have companies like Dlink would make routers which are supposed to secure your network with the latest security patches, and you are lucky to ever see an update, and when they do, it is a year later, and you get 1 or 2 updates before they declare it EOL. And yet people still buy them and put up with it. An update is surely coming soon. You don't release updates, people complain. You release regular updates, people complain. You just can't win.

    Updates

And don't forget, it is summer time. A lot of development slows down on many devices during the summer. Better waiting a little longer and get something tested, than release something riddled with instability. It's not like the box is not usable. Mii jumped the gun on one update on the old Mii Box 3, and they were scrambling for months to get it sorted out. Minor little updates are one thing, but when you implement many new features, you want it to be solid out of the gate.
  16. You are 100% correct, but the main player code of libvlc is a snapshot in time of what the VLC app uses (minus all the GUI stuff). The VLC app is also built with libvlc, therefore they often share similar behaviours. I always have a number of basic players installed on my boxes (VLC, MXPlayer, Titan Player, HBPlayer, etc..) and that way I can test to see if a playback issue stems from the player/codecs, or something else. Even for specific Live Streams when they have issues, I will get the m3u from my service, extract the specific M3U8 link for the channel in question, enter details into one of my personal M3U lists, and then use a player like IPTV Pro, loading my custom playlist and testing it there. I have set up the app to always ask what player to use every time I launch a link, so that way I can check if it works with latest VLC, or any other player.
  17. With my service, Primary works just fine for LiveTV For VOD, I used to use secondary, but have since switched to external and use MX Player Pro. You also have the option of using external player if you prefer. I believe the primary player is VLC. VLC has (had) a a small issue (even when used as external player), that "IF" you launch it, and the stream takes too long to start, it times out pretty quickly and exits. So reason I was not using Primary was not any corrupted stream, but since my provider replaced all their servers and replaced their panel, the VOD would take a few second to launch a movie (known issue, but I can live with it). This would cause it to go to start the movie, but always exit since it took a while. If you tried anough times, it would eventually start, and once started it was fine. With Secondary, it worked fine. The issue is that your provider is using mixed different encodings for different channels for the liveTV channels. That is not the best option if you want to maintain a proper compatibility. Encode everything similar, that way some player can play them all. Maybe in a future BuzzTV version when they update the version of the internal players, it might be better for your provider's choice of encoding. Good news is that I can confirm that the Primary player is much improved in the latest beta I am running on my X5. Even for VOD, I am now using Primary player now and have no issues. playing a bunch of VOD that I tested.
  18. Recommended settings for those are at the default settings. Never had to play with them. People can't test your channels, since the streams are specific to the individual providers. And in this forum, you are not allowed to mention the names of services you are using in public, since it is for support of boxes, NOT services. Buzz themselves do not recommend or provide any IPTV services. I have some "public" m3u lists and since those have sources from various places, they often have a mix of what is playable on the 2 different players. But most "paid" services that I use, work with one player or the other, and not a mix and match. The few times a service has had strange streams which cause an issue, I flag it to my provider and often it gets fixed on their side. Like was said before. If it is only specific channels with the issue, then it is something specific in the way your provider is encoding those channels, that the primary player does NOT like. Just for kicks, I just tested on my Buzz xrs4900, using my main iptv service, and BuzzTV 5.0.799 with Primary player selected: Both ABC (WMAR - Baltimore) and ABC (KTNV - Las Vegas) work perfectly fine with no issues.
  19. Many ISP, in many different countries are doing this. Some just throttle to the point it is unusable, others block all or some streams completely. In most cases, a VPN will help bypass these restrictions.
  20. If the rest of your channels work, then it has something to do with the encoding of the channel on the service end. Talk to your service provider.
  21. When you have primary player, have you tried disabling Tismeshit ? Obviously something is different on those streams that the Timeshift option does not like. From LiveTV, select Menu->PVR->PVR Options. If you don't have anything configure for Timeshift Cache Storage location, you obviously will need to configure that. Or try to disable the Timeshift and Force USB TS options all together and see if that helps.
  22. I have no issues on my 4500, 4900 X5, Classic or U5 with both servers I use. 1 is MAC and the other XC. If using XC, try going into menu->settings->configuration and at the bottom, change the stream type from TS to HLS and see if that is any better. Like Ryu mentioned, it doesn't sound like a box issue if you are having the issue on more than one box. Did you try power cycling your modem/router just in case ?

    PVR Problem

Does your service/sub allow more than 1 simultaneous connection ?
  24. There is no support for 3rd party apps here. Support here is for BuzzTV boxes and apps exclusively. 3rd party apps get support from the respective suppliers of that app. Typically on a BuzzTV box, recording is done when you setup your IPTV service using the LiveTV app that is already present on the BuzzTV U5 box itself. If you have not setup the server settings, as soon as you click on LiveTV, you will be presented with the server screen. Where from there you can setup a MAC, XC or M3U type sub. That info is provided by you IPTV service provider. If you plan on using recording, you should ensure your supplier allows more than a single simultaneous connection, since recording will be using once connection while if you are watching something else, it will be another connection. Depending on your service you MAY or may NOT have multiple streams option. Also, before football season starts, I would strongly recommend running a few test recordings, to ensure the integrity and stability of the streams. Any break (temporary, glitch etc..) in the stream, will stop the recording. Also, on the U5, you have a slot for an HDD. To minimize overheating issues, it is recommended to use an SSD rather than a mechanical HDD, and not to put anything on top of the unit. Some HDD get REALLY hot, and sometimes can effect the stability of box.
  25. Not at home now to check (and don't recall off the top of my head), but on a MAC sub, under the menu->settings->configuration, is there an option for stream type (TS vs MU/HLS) all the way at the bottom ? If so, try changing that, and see if it makes a difference.
