  1. Can you record while watching something (ie: hit the red button) ? You sure the recording destination is properly configured ?
  2. You sure there is no scheduled recording on the box ? Scheduled recording will turn the box on and record and then leave it on once complete (at least on the older firmware - I think on latest firmware background recording was added without turning box on).
  3. Have you tried turning CEC off on the U5 and potentially on your TV ? Using BT paired remote, or also using "IR" (ie: pointing remote to the box) ?
  4. Then you are probably out of luck. Not good when you can't contact your provider. You should choose your providers a little more carefully. When a server implements locks (ISP, agent, DeviceID, etc..) which is often a good thing to try to avoid MAC hijack, this can cause an issue if you legitimately change software, box, ISP, etc.. and you can't contact your provider to reset your account on server.
  5. If this is a MAC type sub, you may need to ask your provider to to a reset on your account. Sometimes if the panel does different locking (to avoid hacking), one parameter it could use, it to lock to "agent" string which would mean it would see a different app trying to connect to it. Since the app is now different it may be detecting the change.

    Free IPTV app

You can sideload the app as Ryu mentioned. You don't even need the app for PlutoTV. Do a google search and you can easily find the M3U URL along with the EPG XML for PlutoTV, and you can easily just create an M3U playlist entry and watch directly from the BuzzTV 5 app. I have sideloaded quite a few other apps on my buzz boxes and they all work quite well.
  7. The other embedded player. From LiveTV, press Menu->Settings->configuration and on the top you will see the Video player options for LiveTV/VOD. If you are on Primary, try Backup, or vice versa. BTW: Are you connected via WiFi or Hardwired ? "IF" possible, can you try hardwired, to eliminate the WiFi variable (which can be affected by a number of factors).
  8. What type of box is the other one ? One of the Boomerang Mate 1 boxes or one of the SARO ones ? Unfortunately, the codes will not be changing. So you will have to find an alternate solution. For most of the keys however you could use an ARQ remote which uses a USB dongle to communicate back to the box to control it. For the power key however, there is not much of a choice That is IR only and seems that both boxes you have use the same codes. I used to have a setup at the office with 3x 60" Samsung 4k TVs side by side. It was annoying even turning them on/off, since they are responded to the same codes, and even turning them on/off was annoying, since sometimes 1 of the 3 would not see the IR signal, so then you had to get really close to avoid the other TVs from seeing the IR signal otherwise they would toggle off as you tried to turn the last one on They did not have discrete ON only codes, it was toggle only. Sorry to tell you, there is no simple answer.
  9. Try unplugging the video (HDMI) cables from both boxes and try to see if the remote still turns on both boxes. If HDMI is not connected, meaning it can't be CEC. Therefore there is a conflict with the IR codes used by both Buzz and the other brand you have. This cannot be changed unfortunately. Buzz has been using the same IR codes for all their boxes for many year and has not changed.
  10. when remote batteries get weak, the remote can take off sometimes. And if you have backlight enabled, it can be touch and go it there is just enough power to operate remote, but not the backlight. Try turning off backlight if you have it on, and use a fresh set of batteries. I was going to mention the 12V vs 5V power supply, but figured, I've mentioned it so many times in other U5 threads that people should already be aware of it. Luckily it was a 5V inserted into a box expecting 12V, and not the other way around. If you had plugged the 12V into the 5V, the other box would not be too happy
  11. Thnx.. Firmware took no problem. However after the reboot, the BT400 would not auto reconnect. Went in, un-paired it, re-paired it, and it works fine now.
  12. Is there something "wrong" with the version presently installed ? You sure you want to update ? Have you seen all the complaints in the reviews of the newer versions ?
  13. email the serial/MAC from under the box to cs@buzztv.com and they will get you sorted out right away.
  14. I would strongly recommend to disable any CEC options in the box and the TV. I have seen TVs which claim to have CEC support and the implementation is crap. Another possible issue is a bad HDMI cable. Since CEC goes over the HDMI cable, a defective cable (which can happen) could cause all sort of sporadic chaos including random power on/off if CEC is enabled. For the server entries and all the setup, you will be glad to know that the latest beta firmware has a full backup/restore option which allows you to backup your servers, favorites, etc... And then easily restore them It actually works well. So it is a feature which will be deployed to everyone as soon as it is felt that it is ready for public deployment.
  15. The U5 is pretty much the "replacement" for the 4900. And now they have a U5 with 128GB (instead of just 32GB) of onboard storage. And you have a slot underneath (like the 4900) to add an HDD/SSD. The U5 is a nice box, with AndroidTV 11. The only thing, I have a little preference for the BT200 remote that was included on the 4900 But that is personal preference. Otherwise the U5 works great. I have installed a spare SSD I had lying around and it just works (like most Buzz boxes). The Classic with 2 remotes is also a nice deal. I recently convinced a buddy of mine to buy one, and so far, he is liking it.
  16. inconsistent picture quality ? You may want to look at your TV, or your IPTV provider. No picture quality issues here on any buzz box (and I have quite a few). Wish I could say the same about my old Beelink boxes, but they were just junk in terms of consistency on picture quality.
  17. Basically, use your TV settings to adjust your picture settings.
  18. Got curious and decided to go hunting my VOD for something with Subs. Truth is, there was not much with subs on VOD/TV series (at least on 2 services I checked). After trying a few, I decided to try some of the 4k streams (figured most scene releases put a little more love into their 4k releases and all bundled into a single mkv container). Well, first 4k movie I tried (T0p Gun M@verick) seems to have a few sub tracks included (see screenshot attached). The non-4k version, did not have any subs included. So the screenshot pretty much confirms that BuzzTV does support subs, if the stream has them embedded. For reference, I was using the primary player for VOD. Guess like many other services, your service does not have much with subs in the VOD section.
  19. Have you checked to see that subs are even embedded in the VOD ? You can always try using another software (iptv smarters, stbemu, ott navigator, tivimate, etc..), or another box to see if the VOD on your service even has any embedded subs. Keep in mind that with VOD on newer versions of BuzzTV 5, you can select an external player (which in theory takes buzz tv out of the loop once the VOD stream is launched). You can select MX player, VLC, etc.. as an external player and see if they detect any subs. If they don't also, then I would strongly suspect that your provider does NOT have any embedded subs on the VOD streams. Which is not uncommon, since many just use the same files you can get from torrent/usenet downloads.
  20. I can assure you that the xrs4500 (and pretty every other buzz box) support subtitles. For LiveTV I use them all the time at nights, in order to not wake up "the boss" Obviously this assumes your service and the the channel you are watching have subtitles.
  21. I agree. I watched some catchup last night and a quick few taps on the ff button, made for quick skipping of commercials. I prefer 10secs, since it allows me to fine tune and backup up a short 10 secs if I overshoot. Guess it can be a "setting" in the configuration menu on how many seconds to skip per ff/rw keypress. default to 10 and allow to change I guess.

    The Classic

On the 5 series boxes (like your U5), it goes back to main menu even when you come out of standby (if you have it set to go into standby, instead of poweroff). On the 4000 series boxes, if you go into standby, it will resume wherever you were before going into standby. You say "wake and record the program", but truth is, if it wakes, it goes to main menu and launches the record. It never launches liveTV. The recording is done in the background if I recall. you will see a message come up on the bottom middle of the home screen, but that is it. It doesn't launch liveTV if it is just a recording.

    The Classic

Instead of asking, why not just try it yourself with a test recording ? When it powers up to record it goes to the home screen and stays there. It does not even launch the liveTV app in order to record. So once it finishes recording, there is nothing else streaming. And if you are worried of it streaming when you are not there, you can also set the option in the LiveTV app to exit after a certain period of not remote activity. I have mine set to 2hrs, so if I fall asleep while watching TV, after 2 hrs, it will exit to main screen anyhow and stop streaming.

    The Classic

Who told you it will turn off ? The box does NOT turn off after the recording. There is an internal alarm for it to wake up to start the recording, but after the recording, It will stay on.
  25. I rarely use the backlight on any of my remotes. They have become all muscle memory by now. I had completely forgotten about the fact that the BT-250 had no backlight. One thing however that would be nice with the BT-250 is for it to react a little more like the ARQ series remotes. ie: when the airmouse is active, it would be nice to have some other buttons also functional. With the ARQ series, the "back" button is still functional, so it you select a menu or icon (like "apps" or "settings"), when you press the back button it does back out when using the ARQ. With the BT-250, you need to disable the airmouse to be able to back out. I even tested with my generic MX3 remote (which is similar to the ARQ200) and it also still has the back button active (and they still have the dpad functional also - which is not much use since the OK button follows the mouse cursor). Would also be nice if the mouse cursor/ok button could be used in the standard android keyboard. It works in the BuzzTV keyboards (like when searching TV series/VOD), but on the standard android keyboard (like when entering a new server info), it does not work to select the letters.
