The problem is not BuzzTV. The problem is amazon being picky on what boxes their dumb app works on. Same with Netflix. It's all about DRM and protectionism. Do not update the pre-installed apps, and unless they change their API, you should be fine.

"reorder app function" ? Can you provide more details ? Reordering apps on the home screen ? Reordering channels in channel lists manually, auto sorting, etc.. ?

BuzzTV 6 does not have a backup feature yet as you have already realized. Hopefully it will come soon. I am sure pretty much every major feature from BuzzTV 5 is on the "to do" list. They are knocking them out one at a time, and from the number of beta releases coming out, there is a huge effort right now.

We don't have access to your ticket (most of us don't work for buzz), hence why we ask the questions, even if you put it in your ticket. Wild question, but you did not by any chance enable the android "developer options" on your box and make any changes ? Also, I know it may be a little drastic, but if you have not customized your box much, have you considered doing a "hardware" factory reset ? If you have not customized it much yet, then if you unplug the box, turn the box upside down, remove the door to the storage, you will see a small little tiny hole. You can use small tool (like a paperclip or even a sim ejection pin) and press the little hole (you should feel a very light click), as you are holding that pressed, you can plug the power back into the box (obviously, easier done with box upside down sitting on a flat surface). If it is being pressed, you should see the quick buzz logo, and then jump into bootloader screen within 2 seconds. From the bootloader screen, you can scroll down and select the option to "Wipe data/factory reset", and that will initiate the factory reset. If you plug it in, and you start to see the animated boot logo, then the press of the button did not register. Anyhow, keep in mind a factory reset will clear the box and you will need to reconfigure it. Just realized Buzz already has a small video on the reset process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bnzmXNyXcg

So from the HOME page, if you go to the setting ICON (the gear icon on top right near with the weather), then choose Settings->Device Preferences-> Display and Sound, you don't have the option for "Advanced Display Settings" ? As in the pic shown by nbs above ? Try connecting the box to another TV or even a computer Monitor. Curious if it is dependant on some EDID type info from the display connected before being available. Is your box connected directly to a TV, or going through some receiver/kvm or distribution box ?

Just use the USB3 USB-A port already and move on. If you don't care for the USB-C feature, just ignore it. It's not like you will get anything more in terms of performance out of the USB-C port even if it was designed as a USB Host type port. The only other box I have ever had, that had a USB "device" port used to be my old Pivos AIOS HD player from a decade ago, and it was a USB3 USB-B type port on the back, to be able to access the HDD you had installed internally. It was a great feature and I used it quite a bit back then to transfer movies to/from the local HDD when I used to take it along on road trips. And either way, your USB dock even comes with both USB-A and USB-C cables in the box anyhow
-
Keep in mind that docks have a tendency of having internal USB hubs and bridges, and therefore may NOT be supported by all devices. However on this case, it was never advertised for connecting USB storage. In fact the port does NOT act like a USB Host. It is a USB device. Like DU mentioned, it is for data transfer. It allows you to plug the U5 into a PC, and the PC will see it as an eternal drive. It is to allow quicker transfer to/from the box. If you don't like the purpose and functionality of the port, or you assumed something different, then that is your problem. It is very clear in the boxes literature that it is for data transfer. The box has 3 USB-A ports on the side of the box. the black one is USB2 and the 2 blue ones are USB3. I don't see the issues, since you can use the USB3 ports to connect external storage.

If you are planning to use Kodi, stick with 4GB. Just using the Buzz app for IPTV, either one is fine. In my opinion, the best bang for the buck is "The Classic". It's the one I always recommend to family and friends. Not the most expensive box, yet it has the same CPU as the X5 and U5 devices. But obviously, it all depends on your budget. With the current sale on the Buzztv web site, it is the perfect opportunity. Keep in mind the sale finished on the 9th I believe.

When they ad the option to choose video player, you can choose external and let the external player give you the option to resume. Like it has been mentioned before, many of the Buzztv5 features will make it into buzztv6.

Maybe you should post your firmware/software versions, so we can make sure we are all working with the same versions.

For next time, Just to rule out a wifi issue, have you at least tried with an ethernet cable ? Since the HD5 has dual band wifi, have you tried splitting your 2.4 and 5Ghz bands (disable band steering at the router) and try to force connect to 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and see if either one makes it better ? 5Ghz may be faster but range is shorter and can be temperamental with showing full bars one second, and then showing 1 the next. 2.4Ghz may be slower (but still plenty for most iptv typically), but range is longer and can typically have a more stable connection. If you don't split it, then the router decides if it will move you to 5Ghz or not (which may not always be the optimal situation).
-
Keep in mind that the server will often marry to the first box/software you connect to it after the reset.
-
MAC sub ? If it is a MAC sub, then odds are that your provider is binding to fields like DEVICEID1 and DEVICEID2. So when you change from one software to the other, it may require a RESET on the server panel. That's not a buzz issue, but rather a Server issue. Solution.. If they support XC, switch to XC type sub.
-
Have you tried with VPN ? Many ISP (especially in Canada) are blocking and throttling IPTV streams.
-
Next time please don't post in 2 places. Wired or wireless ? Try wired to ensure it is not a wireless bottleneck. Also, are you sure it is not a bandwidth issue on the server ?
-
Doesn't matter if it says "up to date". Can you please provide the version number that is is listing ? V2024xxyy..... That is the firmware. Thats from main screen setting icon, updates I assume ? S/W should be listed there also typically it is 5.0.xxx.
-
When you say it is UP to date, can you post the versions of firmware and software please ? I'm assuming you already tried to toggle the WiFi on/off ? If the box is configured to always "suspend" rather than power off ,can you please try by unplugging power to the box, wanting 5 seconds and the plugging it back in. Suspend mode can have some strange side effects which accumulate over time. Most importantly. Has this been an issue from the beginning or did it just start occurring ? How long have you owned the box, is it possibility still under warranty (check checking) ? If all else fails, you can try doing a hard factory reset and see if that fixes it. You can backup your server settings/favorites to a USB stick first (to make at least BuzzTV 5 easy to reconfigure afterwards). But any 3rd party apps would need to be reinstalled. If it is a software glitch, this can help. However if it is an underlying hardware failure of the 5Ghz radio, then there is not much that can be done. BTW: Did you try swapping the antenna (between left and right or even with other box) ? Maybe one of them is just dead. Different box, but exact same procedure : https://stbtalk.com/topic/300-factory-reset-hard-reset-xr4500-xrs4500/

Do you see a single SSID and router does the band steering, or do you see 2 separate SSID typically on that router (separate 2.4 and 5Ghz SSIDs) ? Do you see any OTHER 5Ghz SSID from neighbours or anything ? Or if you have an old router, even without connecting anything to it, can you plug it in, power it up and see if it broadcasts an SSID on 5Ghz and then check on the box. Just to make sure it is not some compatibility issue between chipsets.

**NEW** Buzz 5 App Update - Version 937 - Sept 11th, 2024
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in BuzzTV 5
Even if it was, the device would crawl after that. It is an older device, limited to BuzzTV 2, but still useable. Hey, maybe time to buy a new buzz box. Buzz has a nice sale going on for Black Friday.. 15% off boxes, and effectively 25% if you buy 2 boxes, so get a friend and get 2 My buddy just ordered 2 Classics, and came to just over CDN$140 tax and shipping included. That is an awesome price for those boxes. -
**NEW L1 APP Update V1.0.77** Nov 26TH, 2024
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in Linux Player
Improved Performance ? Wow. Thanks. Damn, this thing will fly soon. It is already pretty impressively fast for such a budget box -
Do a soft reset first like nbs suggested and then you can do a hard reset if you want I've hard reset it many times, and never had an issue. But then again, my classic is connected to a computer monitor.
