    When I setup a recording to happen it always woke up the box to record but it never turned the box off after completing the recording, but now after the recording is recorded it turns the box off and even turns my TV off.

    I LOVE THIS FEATURE!!!

    I never liked the box on all night long if I set a recording for late in the evening but now I don't have to worry about it being left on after a recording because it turns the box and TV off after recording! THIS IS GREAT!!

    These programmers never cease to amaze me!

     

    I am just wondering when this change took place?

    Actually the way it works, as long as you have Power Key Definition set to Suspend
    Is that if you turn the box off, it goes into suspend

    And if you have any recordings scheduled, they get recorded in the background.
    So the box and TV never actually need to turn on when this happens.

    This change was done on our last Firmware update.

    Matrix TV was custom Firmware we made for a seller in USA. We do this often for dealers looking for this. 

    It was flashed onto HD5s at our warehouse and then shipped to them

    You cant convert it back to buzz without us reflashing it again.

    With Group channel numbering on, this is not an issue.

    With Channel Group numbering off, if I'm watching a channel and then from LiveTV stream, I punch is something like "1635" to go to that channel, it changes, but then, even though I was in my favorites and this new channel is also in my favorites,  when I hit OK, to scroll through channels, I am in "All Channels" category now.

    Same thing when in GUIDE mode.  Scroll through favorites, and then enter something like "3464" which may even be displayed on your GUIDE of favorites, it will hesitate for a quick sec, switch to "ALL Channels" category, and then show you the 3464 entry.

    Guess there needs to be some logic added that "IF" the channel is in the same category that you are in presently, then it doesn't need to change to "All Categories".  Obviously if it is NOT in your current category, then "All channels" switch is the obvious option.

     

    * Channel numbers above are just arbitrary, to describe the issue.

    This was fixed on V5.0.901 Beta

    I believe you're on the Beta update list

  5. Actor search gives results of Movies and Shows that your server may not even offer
    As its giving results from TMDB

    It will give an error message that its not available if you try to play it and your server doesn't carry it.

    Only asking as we have 2 methods for recording. Not really seen by the end user. But its basically Foreground (what You're watching now) and Background recording (Box off, using another app or multi connection account)

    This was APP update only, NOT firmware, so it is quick.  Doesn't usually matter if it is 1 line of code change, or 200 bug fixes... The app is roughly the same size (plus/minus a bit) regardless.

     

     

    Correct this was just an app update

    So only about 65MB in size
    So that is why it was so fast.

    Plus it doesn't require the box to reboot like a Firmware update.

    This bug happens on 4K HEVC Channels

    When you open the Grid Guide or Channel List
    Were currently working on trying to fix it

    I don’t believe this is the case here. After checking it out again, based on this statement, I found that it does not restrict any movie, but still asked for password on simple kids TV show.  Also, the same server is running, without issue,  on other units in my home. 
     

    Going to factory reset, and see where it goes. lol

    Actually, this issue has been present on some boxes even Pre this last update.  I had this issue on my B5 and E5 (and so does another friend [actually 2 of them]).  I had reported it, and was told it was fixed, but I think the issue was accidently mistaken for another issue and told it would be included in the next OTA.   Well, last OTA came, and it did not fix it.  And I re-reported it to allaboutbuzz about 2 weeks ago (Aug 25), but figured with all the other little issues after the last update, he's been too busy to look into it.   However after reporting it, I realized that with the new update (1 of my X5 boxes is now also affected - don't recall which one of the 2 - I can check if it makes a difference).  It is strange.

    To rule out any other app conflict, or settings combination, on the E5, I even did a factory reset (pin method). 

    From the reset, the only thing I change is to change the power key definition to shutdown (instead of suspend).  All CEC is off, Force max volume is off also, and no other settings are touched.  Quick sequence of what I do

    • Power up box
    • Comes up with volume is at max, so I lower it to just under 50% with remote, and then go into live TV
    • Exit Live TV, check volume and it is still at just under 50%, and then do a shutdown
    • Power up box again, and guess what, Volume is at max again. I can still control volume (since force max volume is off).  
    • I bring volume down to under 50% again, repeat everything above and it continuously repeatable. 

    I assumed even though CEC was turned off, maybe something to do with the TV/Monitor I was using and forcing something, so I tried on 2 other TV, and made no difference.

    On the E5 and B5 this was NOT introduced by the update.  This was even pre-update.  On the one X5 I have reproduced it on, it was only after the update (pre-update it was fine).

     I strongly suspect something in the internal shutdown script.  2 reasons.  First is, that if I set to powerkey definition to suspend, then volume is not affected when you bring it up again.  Second (which is the most convincing), is that if I do the whole process above, but instead of shutting down, I pull the power, and then plug it back in to power up, then the volume remains at the last setting.  So wondering if there is some sort of reset, volume adjustment or save in the shutdown script which is causing the issue.

    Anyhow, I am sure they will look at it soon.

    It's not super critical.  Just need to remember to adjust the volume before launching LiveTV, otherwise we can raise the dead (or sleeping) 🙂

    And it is NOT anything to do with the remote itself, since on the B5/E5 it is just basic IR remotes.  Even on my X5 (that just started exhibiting this issue after update), I have not configured anything but the basic BT pairing on the remote, since I have it connected to a Computer monitor 🙂

    We have now located this issue and fixed it

    It will be included in our next Firmware updates later this month
    The fix will apply to all Android 11 Models

    Last night I added a second server, and this is where it is happening. I have the same server on other boxes, with no issue. 
     

    So this morning I removed both servers, then added them back. Both were working as expected. About an hour later, I was adding favorites, then this issue reappeared. Now asking for password on every episode again. 
     

    Parental control will only let me change password… nothing else. Cannot disable password. I have checked every setting I can see. 
     

    Any thoughts?

    On all my 4500 boxes ( I have 3 of these) it usually take me almost 45 minutes to do a Backup on each one of these.

    I think you may have gotten these 2 mixed up. 

    The 4500 and Android 9 boxes. We were backing up the entire OS. So yes depending on the amount of data you had on the box. It could take 45 minutes. As you're backing up GBs of data. 

     

    On Android 11 devices with our recent OTA update. We made a new Backup/Restore feature for the Buzz app only. So yes taking 3 seconds is normal as the data is basically 1MB or less in size.

    That sounds more like a storage permission issue on Buzz app or something. 

     

    You can check this by doing the following

    From the Home Screen

    Settings

    Apps

    Buzz 5

    Permissions

     

    See what it says for Files and Media

     

    Either Allow or Deny

     

     

    As for CEC

    Open the Smart Remote App

    Click HDMI CEC

    If the top 3 options for CEC are turned on. Turn them off and turn on both Virtual CEC options.

    Then there is only 2 settings I can think of that would prevent this
    From the Home Screen
    Go to Settings
    Go to Device Preferences
    Go to Display and Sound
    Go to Advanced sound settings

    Make sure Select formats is on Automatic

     

    And you can try S/PDIF Output either ON or OFF to see if it makes a difference.

    I can use the XCIPTV app for now, but I preferred  the Buzz App, it was better.

    The U5 is connected to a  "Integra DHC-80.2. While playing the same episode of the BBT series, the Integra report DD5.1 when I use XCIPTV  player and Stereo when I use the Buzz Player. Something must be wrong, maybe a configuration I did not find, for now everything should be by default. I did a factory reset, configure the server access, my Google account,  and change nothing else except that I installed XCIPTV from the Google Play Store.

    I did install XCIPTV because of the problem with the Buzz Player.
