we're not going to convince ourselves, but when all your competitors who are based on the same Amlogic hardware give users the freedom to choose their image quality. We reviewed the code on Amlogics SDK.
And this change was actually done by Amlogic on their newest SDKs, which we upgraded to in August 2023
I can post a screenshot of the change if you want from Amogic directly.

And we will update to another updated SDK as well on our next OTA.

The other boxes you reference on 905X4 must be using the older version of the SDK. And they don't have this change.
Amlogic obviously added this change for a reason.

Ok no problem. If that's how you feel. 

We make decisions like this to prevent returns. If we turned this setting on and our return rates went up because of it. We could risk being removed off of Amazon for example. There are pros and cons with everything. And the cons outweigh the pros in this scenario.

If you want to control the boxes power. Then don't set it up to do so. 

You can factory reset the remote by pressing the Down + 0 button at the same time for 5 seconds. And then long press the info button to re pair the remote. 

After doing so. You will be able to control your Boxes power.

We don't have the Dolby Vision license. Could be one reason

Or they allow users to change it regardless. Which we want to avoid in case its changed to a non supported setting. And a user would be staring at a black screen.

As we have employees who have been in the TV business for over 20 years.

That's my point of view and I think the goal is to sell boxes to the maximum number of people and for this all should be really simple. And simple for end user point of view and not from technical guys.

99% of end user will not come in forum to ask question. They will buy a box from provider and put power off and everything should be intuitive.

And the procedure to search put the search result in favourite to have the "full" menu of episodes it's really not intuitive, it's already a trick.

And again this is not to say that the product is not good, I actually want this product to work and exceed the sales of the F brand, because the Buzztv products are better.

The mistake and the Auto TV setup is "will control Power" Auto TV setup should only control the Volume of TV not the power (standby). 

HDMI-CEC it's here to control the power off ot TV.

I am really the only one I see it's an non sense ? I don't think I am so stupid and crazy, because on all other boxes the equivalent of Auto TV setup does not control the Power of TV only volume.

You're the first person to bring this up to be honest. We haven't had anyone else make comments about how the Power + Volume buttons work for Auto TV/Smart Set feature. And our remote is made by the same factory that makes for Google. 

Even Google Chromecast is setup this way. As I just tried it.

Not the box. And since we only have one power button on the remote. That's how it works

We have a new remote coming out. The BT500. Which resolves both issues as it will have 2 Power buttons (TV + STB) and 2 Vol +/- buttons ( TV + STB)

Colorspace is grayed out when a TV is Dolby vision, also grays out if resolution set only supports certain spaces

Not really a bug is intentionally coded that way by amlogic this way

We could make it so it never greys out but then a person could potentially set a unsupported res/colorspace combo for their tv

All of them had stuttering issues, which leads me to believe the issue is not with the speakers.

My latest attempt was to get a brand new HDMI 2.1 cable that would allow me to move the buzztv about a foot further from the TV and sound bar.  I also raised the buzztv about 6" higher - it now sits about 5' above the ground.  The performance last night was great with the Ion Plunge and Altec Lansing bluetooth speakers.  I don't know if this is due to the increased distance from the tv and soundbar, or the improved hdmi cable.

Please keep in mind

The Wifi antennas on the X5, also act as signal for BT
Some people also don't have them screwed on when using Ethernet, and wonder why their remote doesn't function properly.

So you can try adjusting those for better signal, or you can always try and upgrade the antennas to something bigger to increase the DB gain for signal.
As the antennas are standard wifi screw on/off, so any standard antenna will fit.

If you're using a MAC Server it has only one connection
Same goes if you're using XC or M3U with just one connection.

So if you start a recording while watching, the app records it in the foreground
That is why it stops recording if you stop watching it, as in go to the home screen or turn the box off.

If you scheduled the recording and aren't using the box, the background recorder will start recording it
This also works if the box is in Standby, or if you have an X5, U5 or Classic and use Shutdown for power off, the box will boot up to record
If its in suspend, it will record in the background.


If you're using XC or M3U with 2+ connections, when you record something even while watching it
The background recorder will automatically create a new connection and use that to record it
This allows you to change channels and watch something else, or use another app/go to the home screen etc.

This is just how our app works to record

Are you recording on the Buzz app?

Because that is the only place it works. It won't record other apps content.

If you mean pre install the apps into a Firmware update

No we have no plans to do that. A lot of those can be easily found in the Playstore already. 

We try to limit pre installed apps as they just add to the size of a Firmware and also bloat ware for the users that don't use them at all.

Is the audio source your streaming in 5.1 or 7.1 audio? If so, passthrough works no problem via HDMI or Optical Cable.

Most IPTV is only in 2.0/stereo audio though
You can check this by pressing the Green button on Live or VOD/TV Series and looking at the Audio Track.

In server settings for M3U, there are 2 spots for M3U URLS, one of them is labelled EPG
