XRS4500/ XRS4500 MAX backup transfer ?
Emporium replied to sea157's topic in XR4500 / XRS4500 / XRS4500 MAX
Yes, but you want to make sure you have a proper backup on USB key before doing a factory reset But YES, it CAN be used from one device to another as long as they are on BuzzTV 5. I do it all the time. I create server profiles on one one box and then back them up and move them to another all the time. But like I said earlier, you NEED to make sure that when you do a backup on your 4500, you move the backup ZIP file to your USB key. By default I believe it goes to internal storage. And then on your 4500 MAX, if it doesn't see it, you MAY need to copy the ZIP file back to it's internal storage (don't think you need to, but you can try) and then make sure you have selected to look at the correct location. If you check your USB key, you should have a ZIP file (named something like: buzztv-backup....YEARxxYY_99999.zip ), and inside that ZIP file is typically just a single file called "backup.yaml". Do you have the ZIP file on the USB key ? -
XRS4500/ XRS4500 MAX backup transfer ?
Emporium replied to sea157's topic in XR4500 / XRS4500 / XRS4500 MAX
The Android 9 boxes for some people do NOT automatically copy it to the USB drive. On your USB stick if you put it on PC, do you see a ZIP file on it ? If not, you need to use a file manager app (Solid explorer, total commander, es file explorer, etc..) to copy the file from your 4500 internal storage to the USB stick first -
Agreed, forgot about that one, since I never had one But the 3900 also used a 5v,3A power adapter instead of the usual 5V,2A on other boxes. So "technically"if they needed 12V for the sata connector (assuming it was actually wired for 12V), they have a little more current to allow some up-converting to get the 12V. But obviously I did not design the boxes, nor open them up to investigate how it was done. I am just "assuming". Bottom line is, make sure you are using the power adapter that came with your specific box, or at least something of the same voltage, and at least the same amount of "A".

When I said internal HDD, I meant the SATA connector. The xrs4900 and U5 use a 12V instead of the 5V, probably due to the SATA HDD connector which has a 12V line (I know it is not used by most newer drives, but it is still part of the SATA connector spec).
-
You are lucky it was in that direction. DO NOT use the U5 power supply on the older boxes (except the xrs4900). The U5 and XRS4900 use a 12V power supply (due to the internal HDD), most (if not all) of the other Buzz boxes use a 5V power supply. Do it in the other direction and it may be a "smokey" experience.

They are not in circulation yet, so kind of hard to say at this point.

Pretty sure right now, they are super busy with the launch of the Android 13 devices, with BuzzTV 6. Not a common setup for many people, so hard to even get too many people to test, on different boxes. And Android 9 boxes (as in your 4900) I am sure handle it differently than Android 11 boxes (like the X5, Classic, etc..). Not sure how Android 13 buzz boxes will handle it also, since they are not in public circulation yet. On my classic, since I don't use any surround sound system and it tries to do passthrough, I need to force it to "never use surround sound" (option on Android 11 boxes), otherwise I have some 5.1 encoded streams that hang.

Inconsistent success with scheduled PVR recordings
Emporium replied to jellytotz's topic in X5 AI / AX-C
Version of BuzzTV 5 ? from liveTV, press menu, and should be on bottom of the menu (5.0.xxx) MAC or XC type login ? If it is XC, have you tried changing the "stream type" ? If it is set to Automatic, try setting it to M3U/HLS or TS. Also, for recordings, SD card is not the optimal option. USB 3 drive is the best option. Even if you SD card is a super fast card, there is no specs on what controller/speed is on the SD slot on the buzz boxes. SD card on buzz boxes is typically used for recovery/firmware updates. I know many who have used SD cards, and eventually switched to a USB3 drive and problems went away (just a thought). Now, for the fact that 2 recording worked even though you have a single stream sub, that depends on your provider and how they enforce it. If you are in LiveTV, and go to menu->Settings->Account info, does it show active and max connections ? Keep in mind that if there is a glitch in the stream, or if the stream gets redirected by the providers, the recording will stop (and not resume). The stream needs to be continuous and flawless.- 1 reply

Now you know what I asked if youtube was working Do yourself a favor. Change the "powerkey definition" to shutdown, instead of "suspend" (if I recall, from home screen, go to settings->more settings->powerkey definition). Yes it takes an extra minute to power up, but at least it is a clean boot all the time. not just waking up from a suspended state.
-
Reason I ask for youtube is to make sure that the internet connection is actually working on the box. Just checking the basics Latest "public" version I believe is 5.0.919.
-
Any error messages ? MAC or XC type login ? ie: Did you just give your MAC address and they provided you just a portal URL, or did they give you a portal URL and username/password ? What version of BuzzTV 5 are you using ? Hit Menu button from the LiveTV app, and you can see the version number on bottom left (5.0.xxx). Do other apps work ? Like youtube ? Can you play a video through the youtube app ?

Pretty sure it does NOT auto reboot. It comes back to the menu after it erases and formats the various partitions. You need to select the reboot option. So before selecting reboot, I just wipe the param partition before rebooting. But like I said, I am pretty sure that is already part of the "Factory reset". It is just a habit from an old box that would not do it on an older version of android.
-
Did you try another pin reset ? Got nothing to lose. What I typically do is go to recovery screen using pin method. "Wipe data factory reset". then "wipe param partition" (this is typically not necessary since the factory reset usually does that, but it's an old habit) and then "Reboot system now".

LG has been a pain in the B%$^#$ on many TVs I have tried regardless of box.. If it is not one thing it is another I stopped buying LG for this reason. They always have something different or picky. Have you tried a different HDMI input ? Try a different cable ? Probably won't make a difference, but have you tried disabling all CEC options on the U5 ? Did you by any chance enable Auto Frame Rate setting for apps ? (Settings->BuzzTV Utilities->Auto Frame Rate Settings->Advance setting) Does Live TV/VOD/TV Series work (assuming you have an IPTV Sub) ? I know I know it sounds like a strange question, but you ARE using the power supply that came with the U5, right ? Not one from another Buzz box. The U5 uses a 12V power supply, yet most other buzztv boxes (except the xrs4900) use a 5V power supply. The U5 can power up on the 5V, but will exhibit strange behaviours.
-
OK.. Try this again.. From home screen, go to settings, the go all the way down to apps and select BuzzTV 5, and then Clear Cache. Then select "all apps" continue all the way down on the app list, and at the end you will see "show system apps" and if you continue scrolling you will find "BuzzTV Core" Select it, and you can "clear data" on that. then I would say probably reboot the box, before doing anything else. If all else fails, there there is no harm in doing another "pin reset".
-
Do you typically use "suspend" or "shutdown" ? When you turn the box on, does it go through the whole buzz logo animation each time, or does it power up direct to home screen ? Over time suspend can cause issues. Shutdown is best. I am assuming you are using an XC API login. In menu->Settings->configuration under Stream format, what are you using ? If using Automatic (actually not sure when this option was introduced), change it to M3U/HLS first and see if it helps (you'll need to change channels after changing this option). If that is not much better, try switching to "TS". Also if you have "Real Time Streaming" and "Tunneled Playback" options (once again, not sure where they were introduced), turn them off. From home screen, go to settings, the go all the way down to apps and select BuzzTV 5, and then Clear Cache. Then from LiveTV, go to menu->settings->check updates again again.
-
Do you have Bluetooth disabled ? If so, enable it. It can affect the WiFi radio also. If it is enabled, try to toggle it (off, wait 5 second, on again).
-
Also, I did only once have an xrs4900 where after a pin reset, it would not take the first BuzzTV update over a wired connection (very strange). I had to switch to wireless for the first one, and it was fine after that for subsequent updates. Bizarre, but only say it once. Maybe try swapping from one type of connection to the other if all else fails. Go to LiveTV, Menu->settings->check updates for the BuzzTV update.
-
I could never deal with firesticks. But the 4500 is still pretty capable. Not the fastest box, but for basic IPTV, it is still pretty usable.
-
Mine was fine till this morning. However this morning was blank. But after "noon" it came back. Probably issue with the service provider API. No biggie for me, I rarely even pay attention to it.

First of all, it would help if you mentioned which box you are using. The BT400 comes with many boxes. Since you reset the remote, do you actually see a volume bar now on the screen when you try to change volume up/down ? If not, can you check if you have "Force MAX volume" option enabled ? You say you connected a wireless speaker, but you don't say if it is paired to the box, or your TV ? Have you tried using the TV remote to increase the TV volume ?

First of all, this question has nothing to do with the 4900 As a matter of fact, the 4900 in my opinion has been one of the best boxes Buzz has ever released. It has stood the test of time, and even though I have piles of other newer buzz boxes, my 2x 4900 boxes are still my daily drivers on my 2 main TVs. There are literally 1000s of services. Mentioning every service out there is not an option and has nothing to do with the box. And peoples needs are different. I offers 3 different services to family and friends, and depending on their needs (locals, sports, international, vod, tv series, etc..), I will recommend a different service. And it goes without saying that there is NO service that is 100% flawless. IF people can't tolerate the occasional glitches, then they should at least have a second service as a backup. Or just go back to cable/sat or other services that actually offer an SLA, and cost 10 times more. There are many other forums that have discussions of many of the main services we typically use. Many of us on this forum are also present on those forums (often with similar handles). If people want to test some services, to see if other streams work better, there are plenty of free streams out there. People can use google and search for "github free-iptv" or even "plutotv channel m3u", and many others, and they can use those. Truth is, I know a few people who have more than they need, just by using some of these free lists. I often use these lists and create my own M3U for backup purposes for family and friends. You'd be surprised how many decent channels out there are available via free streaming links. So to get back to your question, we need to respect the policies laid out by BuzzTV for this forum and concentrate on actual h/w or s/w issues that are at the heart of these boxes. BuzzTV does not condone or recommend any the use of any specific service (legal or otherwise).
-
Can you specify what box and what version of BuzzTV 5 you are running ? When you press Menu button, it should be on the bottom left in the menu. 5.0.xxx It has happened to me a while back and my experience was similar to Ryu.

Hive app ? You don't need any additional apps on a buzz box to watch Live TV or even record. But you do need to have purchased an IPTV subscription from a service provider/reseller. Discussions about IPTV services are NOT allowed on this site. If when you hit the LiveTV button, you get the server screen, it means that your box is NOT setup to work with the BuzzTV apps. Typically an IPTV sub is MAC based (bound to your MAC address - or Server ID on a buzz - top right of server screen starting with 00:1A:79). XC based. You are given a portal URL and a username/password. M3U based: you are given a long URL which has your username/password within the URL, and sometimes you get a second one for an XML file for your EPG data. Then to watch TV, you simply launch the LiveTV app, and if your service offers, you have VOD and TV Series integrated. To record, you can either: manually schedule which channel, start time and stop time you want to record. While watching, press the "record" button on your remote Or go to the TV Guide matrix, scroll around the program guide to find the program in the future that you want to record, you hit OK, and it will prompt you if you want to record it, set a reminder to switch to it when it starts playing, or cancel I believe. But recording also depends on how many simultaneous streams your IPTV provider allows. If it is a MAC based sub, it only allows single stream. So you can only record the same stream you are watching. XC and M3U will vary on how many streams the allow you to have. If it is not mentioned, it is also often single stream only. So every channel you are watching and every channel you are recording simultaneously is considered 1 stream. So if your provider/service allows 2 connection, you can watch one channel, and record 1 other. If it allows 5 streams, you will be able to watch one channel and record 4 others at the same time. If you are using some other 3rd party app on your box, then you will need to get support on thier forum, since in this forum, it is ONLY support for BuzzTV hardware and Software. No 3rd party software is supported.
