ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I am not finding how to force my X5 to update to the latest firmware via a USB. Their chat said it is possible. I am not having luck finding a step by step process. Quote
Emporium Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Are you stuck at some older version ? Typically all updates are via OTA. Did they send you a file ? Post your current firmware and Software version. Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 I am stuck on the June 2022 version, just learning now it was an issue. No I did not get a file but did send them my issue for a ticket. Quote

ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 However, this how to video is with a micro SD card. I don't have one of those. Will the same steps work for a USB? Quote

ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 All this does it take me to a bootloader screen from android and nothing makes it boot from the USB. It's fine. I'll just wait for their newest box and retire this one. 1 Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Relegate it to a different TV thats not my main TV. 2 minutes ago, Ryu said: retire this box? 1 Quote

I had a few 8GB MicroSD cards I had lying around and would pass them around to a few of my colleagues who needed updates (all had purchased at same time). Don't know where you are located, but 8GB MicroSD cards can be had for dirt cheap (if you can still find something that small). Can even fit on a 4GB card (possibly even 2 GIG, but that might be tight after formatting). I'm sure someone in the family or friends would have one you can borrow for a day just for the update. 1 Quote
dishuser Posted April 3 Posted April 3 I just used one from one of my security cameras next option would be use one from a phone 3 Quote

It won't actually be retired just moved to the non main TV once their newest box is released. I ordered an SD card and USB adapter for my PC. It's all good. 3 Quote

ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Indeed it is. Works out well, I'm working in the office Tomorrow and then back home Friday when it arrives. Should be easy from there on out. Thank you everyone. Quote
Emporium Posted April 3 Posted April 3 When the update starts, be patient. Let it go. At one point it will feel like the unit is hung or unresponsive. Just let it go, don't try to stop it.. Can take a few minutes to complete. If you interrupt it, you can brick it. Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Yikes!! Excellent advice. When it is done I assume it just comes on to the main screen? Quote

Ryu Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I always stay on top of it to keep eye on it to see whats happening the time of update/installation. so when nothing happens for sometime I keep work on my pc/phone patiently until picture comes on. so keep something to keep you distracted during installation process. 2 Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 At what point do I retry the process? It has been over 10 minutes by my timer on my phone and the box still has a red light on it. Quote
dishuser Posted April 5 Posted April 5 it's been about 1½ years but I think it took about 20 minutes Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 OK, I'm gonna let it go while I make dinner and then eat said dinner. Which will probably be 45 minutes and see what's up. They offered to have me ship it back, so I have that option if this doesn't work. 2 Quote
ThrasherPrime Posted April 5 Author Posted April 5 It's been over an hour. Think it's safe to try it again? Quote
