  1. I have many clients with that service you just mentioned and you broke the rule again. They ALL have buzz boxes. Not one of them have mentioned any issues. And one of them has 3 buzz boxes. And I just reactivated one of the boxes this week, since he was down south for the winter and had only taken 2 boxes with him. So this service you mentioned, works just fine. And that last service is no stranger to buzz, so if there were issues with buzz and their service, they would have easily reached out.
  2. First rule, is that we don't mention IPTV service names here. IF buzz needs specific service names to test, they will contact you via PM. Unfortunately this service has some of the largest french content out there (including the VOD), so for french speaking members, this is the option that has the most content for them. But I do agree with you in terms of quality and price (considering I also like some French content myself), and when I used it a while back, I could not deal with some of the poor quality feeds. Just unjustified at the price. They know they have a niche market so they charge for it.
  3. Don't know if any universal remote, but one thing I did notice is that the Onn remote that came with my el-cheapo walmart device, worked quite well on my buzz boxes. Found out accidently, so something to keep in mind. Maybe some other google based device code will work similarly. Don't get me wrong, the "google" remote layout is minimalistic compared to the buzz remote, but just saying. The basic functions are there.
  4. Try switching the VOD+TvSeries to secondary and see if that helps. Otherwise you can choose and External player and maybe try the standalone VLC player so that way you can go into the settings and manually adjust the audio settings within VLC You sure it is not the source themselves ? Some services I have seen that still include CAM or TS rips for newer films, which have crappy sound. Try maybe an older 4k movie or something which are typically better quality. Just saying.
  5. LiveTV and VOD/TVseries can be set to different players depending on your service. Both have Primary and Backup, and for VOD/TVSeries you can even select external. For my Primary service the best combination that just works is Primary for LiveTV and Backup for VOD+TVSeries. Obviously this can be different depending on your service. What version of BuzzTV are you runnning ? Either scroll down on the left of the screenshot you posted (and it should be at the bottom), or press menu while in live TV and it should be on the bottom left (should be 5.0.xxx). Also I notice in your screenshot that you have enabled "Real Time Streaming" and "Tunneled playback". They are NOT necessarily compatible with all IPTV services (especially tunneled playback). There is even a comment about it at the bottom of the tunnelled playback help text that appears to the right of it when it you select it. Should maybe try to disable them and see if it helps.
  6. Is this with ALL apps ? Even Youtube ? Or just BuzzTV 5, IPTV streams ? I have an old Sharp 1080p TV, and an archaic Audiovox which does not even have HDMI in (using AV cable with the old yellow/red/white analog cables) and I don't have any issue even at factory settings.
  7. This option does not exist on buzztv 5. You can manually sort the channels by ch numbers, A-Z, or user organized, you can put them in different favorites groups if you want. But filtering out what you call "tags", does not exist. I personally prefer to keep my channels grouped by prefix tag anyhow (I know I have my 24/7 favorites on top, followed by my CA, then FRCAN, then US and then US-720 - and all premium type channels which I don't watch as often are in a second fav category), but that is a personal preference. And in cases like my elderly mom who is tech illiterate, I download her M3U file every so often, quick compare to her last one to see if any streams have changed. I extract out the channels she wants and create an M3U file and I put it online on my account with all the mods and that is what she loads all the time. Channel names are what I want them to be, and they are in the order I want them to be. Sometimes I even play jokes on her and put messages in her channel titles in () and she gets a good giggle. And you say that "There isn't much a user can do if the IPTV provider are idiots", but the truth is, you can, you can find another provider, there are 1000s of them out there. Not saying it is not possible (it's just software after all), but the 4000 is already pretty taxed for performance with BuzzTV5. Not sure adding another layer of local filtering is something many would want. The 4000 if I am not mistaken is the lowest powered buzz box running buzztv5 right now (except possibly for the vidstick ST4000). Even the E2 has a slightly more powerful processor (I have one in my kitchen), and any slower and it would be in the closet with my xpl3000 BuzzTV 6 is just around the corner, and would be curious to see the new features on that. Doubt the 4000 will ever run buzztv6 (since it started with Buzztv4), so that would require a newer box eventually. And I am pretty sure most "new" feature development will be concentrated on the latest and greatest (which makes sense).
  8. BT-250 is my preference also (since the BT200 is no longer available). Even my boxes with the bt400 (X5 and U5), I have not enabled any of the "smart remote" features. Actually on my X5, I decided to get another bt-250 instead. Obviously your setup may differ, but in my case, it is nothing fancy, so I just have the TV, basic soundbar direct connect to TV audio output and buzz box. TV volume is set to about 60% and so is the soundbar volume. The box volume control is set to variable control (ie: disable the "force max volume" option) so the box can control the volume level it outputs to the box. So honestly, the only thing I need to do is manually turn on the TV, and then the box remote can handle everything else. I have even set the TV up to auto power off if it doesn't detect signal for more than a minute, so if I am too lazy to get up and turn off the TV, it will shutdown automatically 1 minute after I power off the box. No smart remote features needed. Box remote, turns on and controls only my buzz box. That's all I really need. On my other similar setup, I have the BT-250, and only additional "nice to have" that I have done, is program the learn keys to be able to play with the TV Volume, and to be able to turn the TV on/off from the remote (not really a big deal anyhow).
  9. Just because YOU use it in one way, does not mean others do the same. I have 4 people using my boxes. We each have our own favorites category. So the same channel can find itself in 1 or up to 4 different favorites categories. So no, I will never want to MOVE categories, since I do want them in the multiple favorites categories. I may add them or remove them from some categories, but moving, I don't see it. When you design a UI, it is not with only a single use case in mind. It needs to be generic enough. And right now, most of us think it works great. Even in your case, After you finally move all the channels you will probably never need to use the "move" option again. When you add a new favorite, you will just tag it to the group you want. Done. And you really must be super patient "if" you are technical capable of using CLI and basic tools to edit the backup files and restore. It's a 1- to 15 minute task max. Yet you chose to do them one by one through the UI.
  10. Only reason you have so many (I hope) is because this is new feature and people are transitioning to it. Someone doing this from scratch on a new box, should not have any mass moves to do. Maybe the occasional channel. Designing a "simple" UI for use with a remote, to cover a number of groups with piles of channels, is not going to be simple, and not something that will get used too often after initial configuration. I was just explaining for someone more technically advance a relatively simple option. But if you choose to do it one at a time using the UI, that is your choice obviously. I never said it was an answer for "most" people, but rather for someone who is apparently more advanced technically. This is a truly a very simple solution.
  11. Hmm.. Guess ISP is blocking. You either get and use VPN now all the time, or look for another service which is not blocked by your ISP and does not need VPN (not yet at least).
  12. When you use the backup function of the BuzzTV5, you can backup your servers, favorites and other stuff. It essentially creates a zip file, which internally contains a .yaml file (which is pretty simple to understand - similar to an xml file). Considering you are an admin (or that is what you had mentioned in another thread), you should be comfortable enough to take the zip file, extract the yaml file, use a basic editor like notepad++ (or whatever else you prefer - I prefer vi [yes I am dating myself]), and you should be able to quickly edit the favorites and move them from one category to another. Once you are done, create a new ZIP file with the yaml file, and you can restore it onto the box. Eazy, peazy...
  13. When you have more than one Favorites category (BUZZ created categories - not your provider having created a category called 24/7 favorites), when you select to ADD or REMOVE favorites (yellow button), you get a small popup with all your favorites groups and you just put a checkmark next to the category you want it in. If you want to delete it, you just remove all checkmarks before you save it. If you want to change category, just unchecked it from Favorites, and check it in 24/7 favorites.
  14. Because you started this thread, and someone decided to hijack you thread 2 months later, with their issue This is what I mentioned to the B Y (and many other newcomers): C'est la vie.
  15. "Searching for source", sound like server issue or a compatibility issue with the server. Have you tried installing latest version of STBEmu on the box and use that to see if it is not a compatibly issue with the app version (which is custom stbemu). If you try any other app like youtube or something, does that work ? Just as a test, have you tried using an Ethernet cable ? Just a few tests to try to narrow down the source. And next time, I suggest starting your own thread, instead of resurrecting a 2.5+ year old thread.

    Channels

The box does NOT include any IPTV service. You need to buy a subscription for that. And before you ask, we do NOT discuss specific services in this forum. You will need to find that in another forum.
  18. First of all, stop mentioning the service name. That is RULE #1. Secondly, did you VERIFY that there is no "space" in the URL ? Android on screen keyboard, has a tendency to add spaces after a ".". I have tested out the same service in the past and it works fine on any Buzz box. I don't know if something has changed since I tested it, but last I used it, I don't think that service required a username/password. It was just the Portal URL, and I gave my MAC to the provider (MAC is on the top right - "Server ID" which starts by 00:1A:79). You do not need to check the checkbox for "user credentials" Also, when I mentioned for the reset, it was NOT to reset your box. It is a reset on your account that the reseller does on their panel.
  19. Add a piece of black electrical tape to the front
  20. If you had this service on another box (or tried it on something like STBemu on another box), you will need to ask your provider to do a RESET on you account. The account "marries" itself to a box the first time it connects. For MAC, I assume you gave your provider the "Server ID" that is on the top right of your screen starting with 00:1A:79... PS: Next time please start your own thread, since your issue is NOT related to the original thread. Thank you.

    IPTV setup

Welcome to the forums. First think you can try is to take the M3U URL your provider gave you and enter it in a Web Browser on your PC. If it is valid, your browser should prompt you to download a .m3u file. Secondly, when entering the URL into the box, make sure there are no spaces. The Android keyboard has a tendency of trying to auto correct and adding a space after a "." all the time. Those extra spaces will make for an invalid URL. Also keep in mind that the username and password, which is embedded in the M3U URL is case sensitive. Thirdly, if you are entering this for the first time, and you have a PC at home that is on the same network as your box, the easiest way is to use your PC browser. When you are on your X5 box, in the server screen, on the top right (under your Server ID) you will see that it says something to the effect of "http://192.168.x.y:8090" where x and y can vary depending on your network. Leave the X5 at that screen and go to your PC and type that URL into your browser. You should see a very basic screen which allows you to "Add server". Give the server a name (can be whatever you want (ex: "service 1"), change the Server type drop-down to "M3U". Now you can enter the Server URL your provider gave you (and XML EPG url if they gave you one), into the spots below. To ensure no typo, you can even cut and paste it from the email or message you got. Once you click SAVE server, you should see the entry appear under the M3U section, you can select it, to try to connect.

    Startup

It's not a "boot up sequence". It is just a "status message" telling you what it is doing Personal taste, but I prefer to know what it is doing, instead of just waiting for it to do it's stuff in the background with no idea what it is doing. It's not like it takes forever to do it anyhow. And if you use fast login (as DU mentions), it does make it pretty quick for most portals (you barely even have a chance to read what it says).
  23. This sounds like one of 2 things. Either the service is having issues with it's servers. Or your MAC has been compromised and the reason you re being bumped is because someone else is also connected to your account. For MAC, you can change it if you'd like (Buzz recently brought back the option to change it). Going from memory, I believe when you are in the MAC server screen (where it shows all your MAC servers), you highlight the one you want to change and then I believe it is the blue button to edit (you can check the bottom color legend) You can then change a few pairs of hex digits (0-9,A-F) at the end of your MAC (which starts with 00:1A:79:xx:xx:xx). Do not change the 00:1A:79 part since some servers will only accept MACs which start with that. Once you change it, ask your reseller to change the MAC in your panel to match what you changed it to.
  24. Huh ? You replying to a 1yr old thread ?
  25. You can try reformatting it and see if it happens again. It should not regardless of the formatting, so something did happen. Yes, the 80MB/s should be enough. I don't think the intention of the sd card addition was primarily for this use. The sd card is helpful for recovery purposes (since it is the easiest way to reflash the box when things go bad). Hopefully most people do not need it. But, also be careful if you are using the card for other features, like timeshift (which writes continuously to the card). sd cards are not designed to be continuously written to, unless they are "high endurance" type. And not sure how every sd card handles multi-theaded writes (actually more like 2 processes writing to it at the same time - timeshift - and possibly recording). In the past when I used to try that on older miniPCs, it was a recipe for corrupted filesystems and things hanging/glitching regularly as it would timeout on the writes
