I am just starting to figure out my "X5" box.

I will be using the "box" for IPTV only. Is there anyone out there willing to work

with me to come up with a "how to use the X5?

I do not see any "guide" on how to use most of the things the X5

 can do.

How about coming up with a "user" guide! I don't see any guide any where!

My first question is, how do you pause LIVE TV?

Pressing the pause button does not seem to be the proper starting point.

Lets start there.

Thanks in advance.

This is what I know(not much so far).

The Blue USB port is 3.0.

Nice to know. It wasn't mentioned any where in the "guide" that came

with the X5. I had to ask .

I am using a Seagate 2Tb 3.0, so I figured it should go in

a USB 3.0 port.

The difference between using wifi and ethernet, for me, is 125 Mbs higher with ethernet.

Apparently, there is a "fix" coming so that the X5 will stop rebooting when you go to

You Tube while using ethernet.

I've no issues using ethernet for youtube

watched it for about an hour yesterday

as for colours for usb it's common knowledge and no need to ask since google will give you that info if you don't know

from google by simply typing in usb ports in search

The reason I am asking questions about my X5 is because I have no common

knowledge about a lot of this stuff.

I simply want to know how to use my X5 box.

I believe simple questions should have simple answers.

from the buzztv products site  Note:  Hardware only, BuzzTV does not sell or give advice on streaming services

the link I gave you earlier explains almost everything with videos

there's even videos on this site and they apply to almost every model

I use two play lists right now.

One with my X5, the other with my TiviMate app.

With some help from Dan The FS man, I am able to use all

the functions of my TiviMate; I must say I got a few tidbits

from Troy as well.

As far as "videos on this site applying to every model", which is fine,

I am interested in the X5 only.

If some one could direct me to the X5 video on how to pause live TV, or

better yet just tell me, I think that would be a start.

And I'll bet I'm not the only one who would benefit from this.

Has anyone tried to follow the YouTube video on how to use

Timeshift with an X5 box?

I hope you have had luck with it.

I can't get any thing to work.

mine works fine and I did not watch that video. however, did you even click on the link nbs posted for you and checked that thread? im doubt but heres follow this.

1. Connect your usb stick to any of USB port. (USB 3.0 works better)
2. Go to settings
3. Click storage
4. Click on your usb stick
5. You should see option erase and format as removable storage. So click on it. (If you dont see this option then format your usb first and once done dont use usb as a internal storage. Just click on move later and start from step 3 again. Now you should see erase and format as removable storage option.
6. Click format
7. Once done, now you should see usb as removable storage.
8. keep pressing back until you get to home screen
9. Now click live tv
10. While watching live TV press menu
11. Go to PVR
12. Go to PVR Options
13. Turn on Timeshift
14. Click Timeshift Cache Storage and select your USB and go back
15. Timeshift Cache Size (up to as much you want, 2 GB is good enough)
16. Download Storage select your USB
17. Now when you go to live TV and you should see TS option lid up on bottom right next to CC REC and HD info. If not press info button to see it in bottom right corner.
18. Now you should see white solid line on top of blue line indicating you can go back up to that time. You should be able to use pause and rewind function now.
19. If you dont see TS option in info bar that mean you won’t be able to rewind/pause this channel or stream

Thanks "RYU" for the response.

Lets talk about support for a moment.

I just got a call from "Mike".

He got me headed  in the right direction instantly!!!!

Great support and a good guy to talk with. He was able

to talk to me on my level, quite an attribute.

It appears that not all streams of IPTV are equal.

Some will support the X5 Timeshift, some won't.

The stream I'm using right now doesn't.

I will be trying my other one later. I imagine , if my other

play list is compatible , then the You Tube thing will make more sense.

So there, now I/we will be getting some ware on my quest to get

my X5 box running on all cylinders!!!

What you have to look for on your "live channel"

is a "TS" icon.

If it's not there, your Play list will not support Timeshift.

It's just that simple, now!

it says that in the guide you were given

Also there seems to be some confusion among users when they say TimeShift doesn't work

It only works on the Secondary Player
So make sure this is set in the Configuration Menu for Live TV

If you use Default, TS will not work.

We will modify the video to make note of this

Interestingly , nether one of my two play lists offer the option

of TS.

If some one would PM me with the name of a play list provider

that works for them for TS, I would appreciate it ; Maybe that provider

may offer a free trial.

I just want to see this TS in operation. Just to see if it is worth

the extra list.
