Obviously it also depends on your source. As far as I know, even services like Netflix will only encode Dolby atmos on UltraHD streams, and even that is NOT on all streams. Most IPTV services (which is what these devices specialize with), do not include Dolby Atmos in the re-encoded streams, even if some had Atmos at source.

I know this was an issue with many Hulu users back in January of this year when Nvidia rolled out Android 11 on the nvidia shield. They had many compatibility issues with Android 11. Quite possibly they have not ironed out all of the issues. Many users also reported similar issues when google deployed Android 11 on the pixel 3 older device Sounds like they are not giving much love to their Android app. Kind of scary to see how common this issue is amongst Android users.
-
Is your player connected WiFi or wired ? If you are WiFi, would you have the option to hardwire it for testing ? Not sure of your geographical location, but are you running VPN for Hulu (depending on your location obviously) ? If so, are you running the VPN on the box, or at the router level ? If you are running it on the box, are you sure it is not the VPN client that is causing the issue ? Oh ya, forgot to add.. Do you have a USB stick or SD card installed ? If so, did you format it as portable storage or as internal memory ? If you installed it as internal memory, the App may be installed on the external media which some apps really don't like.
-
True.. Depending on how many apps you have installed and how many other recording, if you are using only internal storage, there may be a fiesystem full issue FAT32 is the reason for the 4GB limit per file (if using external portable storage). However I have a 64GB stick which I formatted on my windows PC which defaults to exFAT, which does NOT have the 4GB limit. And my X5 is perfectly happy with that stick as removable storage. Also, not sure if the PVR module would fail after 4GB, or would it just create a multis-egmented recording (ie: over multiple files) ? I have not tried to do a large recording, but unless there is some artificial hardcoded limit, it will not be the filesystem which will restrict the file size to 4GB if you are using exFAT. I know recently I had copied 9GB+ movie files onto USB sticks to play on my box using MXplayer. Now if you go to the older boxes (using Android 9 or lower), I have not tested exFAT on those, since I typically stream most media from my NAS. I can run some tests on my 4500 tomorrow, and test that out if the 4GB limit is an issue - by just recording some super long show (but doubt that is the issue here unless they are using a SUPER high bitrate stream).
-
Terry, one potential issues I see with your method is the implication of Tivimate in this whole equation. The way the recording probably works is using one of the basic kernel level signals (SIGALRM, etc...) to wake up the device and then trigger the recording. The fact that Tivimate also has recording options (even though you are not using them), I have no clue how it handles, initializes or masks any of these signals. In theory inter-process signals should not affect each other, but if you will be doing the test next time, stay within the buzzTV 5, and don't use tivimate for now. I obviously have not coded any of these pieces of software, so not 100% sure how they each implement these features, but when signals, alarms, timers ,etc.. are involved, when you debug, try to involve the least number of variables and work your way up.
-
The permission thing should only be happen the "first" time you ever do it. After that it should work as expected. IS it happening ALL the the time, or did you just test it once and post ? Do you have one button recording enabled ? When you schedule a recording, are you doing that manually, or selecting a show through the EPG ? While in the EPG, you can go to a show in the future, and hit OK, and it ill popup a menu which allows you to set a reminder, or schedule a recording. PS: Since many shows are delayed by a minute or 2, I strongly recommend people enable the "Extra recording time" option in the PVR options. Something like 3 to 5 minutes would be perfect, that way, your show does not get cut 1 or 2 minutes before it is finished

Closed captions/sub titles support for live tv & VOD
Emporium replied to spamham's topic in XR4500 / XRS4500 / XRS4500 MAX
This forum is just for the STB boxes. We do not mention or promote any specific services. On one of my servers, I know that some channels do support it. But I rarely turn it on, so can't tell you how many of the 1000s of channel support it -
Your worries about privacy and all are a moot point. You checked those in at the door. Let's see... You log into this forum to b!tch and whine regularly.. The IP you connect from is logged against your user name.. And your Buzz box, connects to the buzz servers regularly, to see if there is any update available (and for users not on beta list, there is not), and your IP is logged again. Quick cross reference through the logs on both sides, you can match user, to IP. And then you can match the MAC request to the IP it came from. Simple as that. So you are just forcing people to waste time tracking you down, rather than just providing the MAC to those who support the box. Didn't ask you to post it publicly (and if you had, it would have been edited and removed). But instead of saying "thanks", you just complain again.
-
V2220106 is correct, but that is just firmware/OS related. But for BuzzTV App, there is an update nearly every week (sometimes multiple per week). PM allaboutbuzz and get yourself on the list for regular beta updates if you want. And NO, they will not be posted publicly for everyone to manually download/install. They are OTA only, and only to those on the beta list. The version you have is probably the first version they pushed, where you had to enter "2015" after you check update from homepage. This pushed BuzzTV 5 to your box, but did not add you to automatic buzztv 5 updates by default.
-
Well, I agree that having the option to save favorites to a USB stick would be nice and surely Buzz will consider it as a future feature to add to buzz5. However the fact that you say the 4900 is forgotten, you are dead wrong. The 4900 gets updates even MORE often that the 2 latest boxes, since the BuzzTV 5 updates are primarily released on the 4900 and then later do I see them on the X5. Only detail is, that the 4900 needs to be on the beta list (PM to allaboutbuzz). I have had days with 2 updates in the same day on the 4900. So saying that the 4900 has been forgotten is WAY OFF. At the moment, BuzzTV 5 on the 4900 is strictly on Beta (until further notice), but it has not been forgotten by far.

OK.. You don't need to pair the remote if you prefer to use IR only. The IR on the Buzz boxes is a lot better than many cheap Chinese boxes and does not need VERY direct line of site, since it does spread quite well But I do find that the range will drop quite a bit as the batteries get low, especially if backlight is on. On the older BT200 at least I think the BT also took priority over IR if the remote was paired, and battery was low. I even had a remote which I thought I damaged the IR, because the BT was working fine but the IR had ZERO response. During testing of different boxes, I often use the same remote. On one box, I'll have it paired with BT (and box hidden behind screen to avoid IR affect it, and on the other box, I will use only the IR portion. And it worked fine until one day the IR stopped (hence I thought it was broken since the BT still worked fine). Then I put in a fresh set of batteries, and all worked perfectly again. Controlling your TV, has nothing to do with the BT function of the remote. BT will allow you to control the box even if you do not have line of sight or even want to hide the box behind the TV. Also has a pretty decent range in my experience. Keep in mind however, that if you are VERY close to other RF signals, or in an area with a lot of RF, BT effective distance can be affected.
-
You can try to unpair and then repair the remote if you want. It sometimes helps. Go to Setting -> Remotes and accessories. Then select the BT400 if it is there, and select "unpair". Then from the "Remotes and Accessories" menu, select "Add accessory", and then put the remote into Pairing mode (simultaneously press and hold the OK button and Home button for 4 seconds, until the LED starts blinking. The remote is now in pairing mode and should be seen by your box. In case you need it, the manual for the BT400 remote can be found on the Buzz site. https://buzztv.com/site/smart-remote/ I don't point the remote to the box either. So I can't say I have tested the IR much, except for some minor debugging when testing/playing with the bluetooth. The BT works pretty sell so far.

**NEW** Official X5 Firmware + Buzz 5 App Update - August 11th, 2022
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in X5 AI / AX-C
Just curious.. Any real reason it would make a difference really for a video streaming box ? There is not many apps that insist on anything more recent than 9 anyhow. -
Channel and audio flipping
Emporium replied to Sal Gagliardi's topic in XR4500 / XRS4500 / XRS4500 MAX
Some services have backup streams, in case the primary stream goes down. One of my services for example, when watching the cooking channel Canada sometimes will switch to cooking channel USA. This is often due to a glitch in the main stream, so it switches to the backup stream. This has nothing to do with the box itself (it's just showing you the stream), but rather the server and streams of the service you are subscribed to. -
I just used the Preinstalled Prime Video app, and even though I don't have prime (so can't check any prime content), I logged in with my amazon account and went to the Ring Of Power series, and downloaded the Season 1 Sneak Peak, Official Trailer, and the Teaser Trailer, and had no issue playing back either 3 of them from "My Stuff" downloads. I even started streaming the trailer for 30 seconds on my phone, and then when I logged into the app on my box, it realized I had stopped at 30 seconds and offered to resume where I left off. What error are you getting ?

Stop spreading misinformation. The 4900 is alive and well, and actually presently gets more updates that any of their other boxes. In fact it is the one that get's most buzztv 5 updates before they are even transferred to their newer boxes. You CHOOSE not to provide something as simple as you MAC address or serial number to Buzz themselves (who made the unit - and already have it in their general database). The beta software club is not any elite secret society. IT is just a different list for OTA updates. The general list will only get the updates once Buzz deems fit that the fixes they have implemented are fit for the general public. You are paranoid about some data privacy, yet you gladly provide your MAC to your service provider who is selling you some really legit streams, and obviously more trustworthy Your MAC is already stored in you service providers database, along with your IP, and other information about you. And those servers are so insecure, that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to dumb these databases and post them public. If you think it is so hard, think about this... Buzz could easily get your IP from these forums. Then they can easily check their regular OTA check logs for all boxes and match up your public IP to your MAC if they really wanted to track your box down. You don't want to provide the info, that is your choice (no one can force you). But saying that boxes are left behind since new boxes are being released, is just pure BS.
-
Can't comment on the 4000 since I don't have one. but for the 4500 and both of my 4900 do not exhibit this issue. One of my 4900 is on latest public release, and the other is on latest beta. What version of BuzzTV 5 are you running no your 4900 ? Hit Menu and version is at the bottom. In your post on Aug 5, you state that a friends 4500 does not do that. Are you both using the same service (just thinking out lout if this may be specific to the streams of a specific service) ? Since you are within 10 ft away of your router, I am assuming that as a test, you can try the same but with a cable connected (instead of just WiFi) ?
-
You need to give it your MAC to your service provider to activate your box on their server anyhow (assuming MAC sub). This is the same. You need to give your MAC to Buzz, for them to add you to a list of boxes that agree to take a beta software (with the understanding that they Install and use at their own risk and Software cannot be rolled back after installation). But some people don't get it and are masters at conspiracy theories Don't want to provide MAC to the company that makes them, then just wait for next public release. Only reason you even have 5.0.653, is because it is probably the version that is include in V20220106 which is posted in the file section here. The file section is not intended for providing latest beta copies. it is just a service to help anyone who may have had a glitched update/brick of device and needs to reload something that works. And if you are on update OTA list, after loading that file, you would get the latest version pushed anyhow. If you are not on the beta list, then you get stuck at the version included in that file, until next public release. Simple.
-
Most people have NO clue how to install an update manually. Hence, it is as simple as sending a PM with your MAC to go onto the list of boxes which will receive the beta updates. Not asking you to post your MAC publicly. If you are worried about someone getting your MAC and using it on your provider, then I suggest you get a service which uses XC API instead and not tied to your MAC. MAC connection/servers are leaked by the 1000s every day. It's not by giving it to someone at Buzz, that you will get your box/service hacked. You don't want beta updates, it's simple. Stick with latest public release, until the new software is deemed ready for everyone. Truth is, I have many Buzz boxes. And most are on beta. But my main 4900 (which the wife uses also) is still on latest public release, since she is not tech savvy and has no tolerance for regular updates and possible new glitches every so often. And that is fine. The latest public release is very useable. May have a few glitches, but you get used to them and typically there are simple workarounds.
-
When you say you software is up to date, is it latest beta, or latest public release ? From Menu, on the bottom, what version of software are you running ? Also, as nbs has posted in order threads, this might help for users running buzz 5 and android 9 https://www.mediafire.com/file/epmf5i0suejl6rj/com_buzz.services.pvr_33_5056428e-2cad-4bbe-9a31-4e13bdb55857.apk/file I typically record on my 4900, and haven't done much recording on my 4500, but when I had tried it in the past it was perfectly fine. Are you recording to an external USB drive ? If you are, just for a test, can you change the destination to the internal storage and try a small recording to that ?

buzz tv and is there a step by step on how to record
Emporium replied to Comtech's topic in X5 AI / AX-C
Hi @TimothyJ First rule, is we do not mention specific servers in these forums, since we do not promote any particular server. Not sure this specific server even offers MAC or M3U/XC api login. If it is the one I think it is, from their FAQ, they say: "No, we do not [support 3rd party apps, like smarters, or anything else]. Our app is built from scratch. We do not support 3rd Party apps. You can use the service with xxxx Streaming app only". Which means the only option they give you, is to download their app, and use that on an android box. Which means you would NOT be using the BuzzTV5 app for this service. You can install the app on the Buzz box and use it, but you will not benefit from any BuzzTV 5 app features. Typically It all depends if you have a MAC based subscription, or an username/password type subscription. If you have a MAC type subscription, you need to give your "SERVER ID" [00:1A:79....] to your reseller, and they need to ensure that that is the MAC address associated to your subscription. In that case, you would need to create a new MAC server, and all you need to do is enter the portal URL you were given by your reseller. If you have a username/password type, odds are you have an XC api type login, so you would create an XC code server, then enter the portal URL you were given by your reseller, and then the username/password you were given or chose. Many/most services will offer MAC or XC api type logins. -
**NEW** Official X5 Firmware + Buzz 5 App Update - August 11th, 2022
Emporium replied to allaboutbuzz's topic in X5 AI / AX-C
I haven't checked today, but I don't have the latest firmware, since my X5 has the 20220624 firmware, which will be released shortly for these units. (unless it was done yesterday or today, which I have not checked). However the issue was fixed pretty quickly on one of the updates that I got on my xrs4900 (actually it was fixed pretty quickly). I had the same issue on my xrs4900 and one of the older updates fixed it. I managed to record 4 streams at the same time, while watching one of them with no issues. I did not test it on the X5 since there was a small glitch with the OTA update. But if the OTA update is available for your unit, I would recommend to get it, since it does include the latest BuzzTV 5, which will include the fix. -

Same here. Happens many times I get reminder, and I just dismiss it since I am already into something else. It's not hard to just hit "OK" if you want to switch. At least if you are at the end of something you can hold off for a minute or two before hitting OK to switch.
