so I downloaded four 4k movies today and none had any audio...lol

they play fine in vlc though 🙂

Interesting..  No audio if played through the PVR downloads interface ?  OK if played through VLC ?  So it's a codec issue then.

I don't see an option to change/select player for VOD Downloads.  Guess that would be a nice addition, so you would be able to choose "external" and the use what you want.  Or even have VOD Downloads follow the VOD player selection.  Right now I am assuming it is using primary since I have external set for VOD player, but get no prompt to choose (like I do for VOD).

  2. When it happens, do you actually see the channel list, or just the small screen in the corner with nothing else ?

Reason I ask is that before the update, on my 4900, "if" I was using primary player, and then while I was in the channel list and selected menu->settings->configuration and changed to backup player and then quickly backed out again to the channel list/full screen (before the backup player initialized/started streaming), under some circumstances the video would be only on the top right.  And it was strange, sometimes it was a scaled version of the video (like when in channel listing), but sometimes it was just like a "viewport" on the top right (same size, but was just the top right of the full size image).   Switching back to Primary player would go back to normal.   I have not tried to reproduce it since the update, but I find the players are more stable since the update.

Is this the case even if you have 2 or more connections on your server?

Has nothing to do with # of connections, since they were not starting another connection.  They were starting to play/stream a file that was STILL being written to by the PVR process.  As soon as the video player opened the file for playback, it stopped the recording process.

If you plan to start watching streams while they are being recorded, then you are better off with a service that offers "Catch-up" on the channel you want.  That way instead of playing back the recording, you could have played back the actual stream (that was in progress - assuming you have more than one connection available), and then use the catchup function to start from the beginning.

I can’t evn get my box to work. I have the xr4500. But I dnt have any servers. And all the servers I find are not working

First of all, don't hijack other threads, especially since your issue is unrelated.

Secondly, if you were hoping to use the box with "free" servers you find posted today and gone before you even try them, you will be very disappointed.  Find a service, and buy a subscription.  Subs are pretty cheap, and some even offer short trials so you can try (to ensure you like the channel lineup they offer).  And this is the wrong forum if you are looking for services, since we only support BuzzTV hardware/software in this forum.

  5. Quite possible.  Is there any way to check with your service provider (or a friend who uses the same service) ?

If it works fine for others, then I'd say to send a PM to allaboutbuzz, and give him the details about the service and maybe he can look into it.  Maybe there is something different/customized that they do on their panel/portal.

so I put a post-it note on power supply for modem/router not to unplug and successfully downloaded a 4k movie 👍🏾

    Glad it worked out.

Definitely would be nice if there was an option directly from the box to format media in exFAT format to allow downloads greater than 4GB (which is a limitation on FAT32).  Maybe with the introduction of the P6 🙂

  7. My 4900 has been even better since the update.  My primary server is XC login based, and before the update, if I scrolled through the EPG, it would eventually slow down like crazy and then crash (repeatable on both my 4900 units).  Now, not only does do they not slow down and crash, but seems pretty instantaneous at loading the EPG.  And love the multiple favorites groups now.  One for me, and one for the Mrs. 🙂

I'm gonna remove the drive from an old dell laptop and load EaseUS Partition Master and use that to format drive with no OS

That'll work.   Love the EaseUS products.  I have standalone bootable ISOs of most of their software and has saved me on many occasions.

it makes no sense that fat32 is default

it makes the drive pretty much useless

maybe a firmware update can change that?

I formatted with my 3900 first as device then as removable

so 2 formats and my previous recording were still there...lol

Did you actually try to play back your recordings ?  The recordings will show they are still there, but that is because the xml file (or whatever other type of file is used) that keeps track of what has been recorded or downloaded is on the main internal storage 🙂

Unfortunately, FAT32 has been the default for ages on TV boxes.  I agree it is pointless with large files nowadays, but Buzz is not the only one.  Personally, I would have assumed that anything formatted by the box itself would have been in EXT3 or even EXT4 filesystem, which is a lot more robust than FAT32.  But I guess there are advantages to keeping removable storage as some PC type format like FAT32 (probably less chance of corruption if pulled from the unit without unmounting or shutting down).

I even tried to find a 3rd party app to format on Android as exFAT but could not find one.  Even if I wanted to launch a terminal emulator (ex: termux) on the android box, you would probably need root to be able to do an "mkfs.exfat" to format a device with exFAT.

  10. Lol.. My wife just turned the box off as it was downloading.  It stopped at 13.9GB, so pretty sure it would have completed.

Most of the boxes by default format with FAT32, so 4GB is a limitation 😞

  11. I just confirmed that formatting using the 4900 formats in FAT32.  I installed an old 120GB SSD into the 4900, did a format as removable storage, tried to download and it failed just after 4GB.  Took it out and plugged into a PC, and it was FAT32.  Formatted it on the PC with exFAT and put it back into the 4900. did the config to specify destination again, and so far downloading Quantumania (4k) and it is at 7GB and still going.

  12. OK.. If you are sure it is not FAT32 🙂  Would be simple enough to check, if you have a PC, to plug it in, and then check properties.

I'll try to download something later on my 4900.  Any specific download you tried ?  I can try the same one.

every download fails at 4.29 gb

Sounds like a FAT32 issue 🙂   FAT32 filesystem, max file size if 4GB.   If you will be doing downloads larger than 4GB, you should format your storage on a PC (using exFAT instead of FAT32) and then use that.  Not sure if NTFS will work also, but exFAT I know has worked for me in the past.

Obviously there could be other issues, but the filesystem at least for sure will limit the max file size.

  14. If you are out of ideas for now, it may be worth considering doing a factory reset on the stick. Maybe something has gotten corrupted/Glitched.

Don't know how many other apps you have, but if it is just IPTV, then it would be simple enough to just configure your IPTV service again after the reset.   If you have many 3rd party apps, you can try to just reset the storage of the BuzzTV5 app first (this will only affect your BuzzTV5 app and not your the other apps on your stick.

    same here

but if I press green button and pick stretch for a channel it remains that way

it doesn't go back to auto even If I leave channel and go back to it

Same here.  It seems to remember the specific aspect ratio selected for each channel.   I have a few channels which I force to stretch and no issues with going back.

  16. Guys, this feature was brought back in order to accommodate people who have issues with their MAC already being on other panels, or being used by someone who generated one randomly, or people who's MAC has been compromised on some server.   If you don't NEED it, there is no point in changing it.

If you are changing box, then it is not difficult to ask your provider to update the MAC on their panel to reflect your new box.  Even if you "replicate" an old MAC, if the server locks/marries on some other item, like the DEVICE ID, then it makes no difference, since you will still need to ask your reseller to reset you account, so the system can resync with your new "credentials".

Bottom line, if you have no very specific reason for changing it, why bother ?

  17. First you create the MAC server you want, and THEN after it is saved, and you are on the main MAC server screen, when you highlight the server in question, you have the option of RED button to EDIT/REMOVE, and BLUE to CHANGE MAC.

  18. I just tried on my 4500 (should be same as 4900) and had no issue doing backup onto USB stick.  It was a little strange however, since during the process it did ask if I wanted to go to internal or external USB, and by default external was selected (like the screen Woody has posted above).  But then when I hit next and brought up the little file manager to select where to save, it was by default on internal storage (even though external was selected in previous step).   But quick selection of external and hit next and it did go to usb stick.  But if you do not realize it, I can see how someone can accidently do a backup and "assume" it was done to USB even though it was internal location selected.

I removed the stick and went to restore option and nothing was there (which is what I expected).  Then I inserted the USB stick and it showed the backup I just made.  Also, checked stick on my PC and the file was there.

  19. Are you starting a recording while you are watching the channel, or are you scheduling one ?  Just curious.

Because if you are scheduling it, I'm pretty sure it will start another stream (if you are watching at the same time), which will be an issue if your sub only supports a single connection.

  20. If you go into Settings-->All apps, and you scroll down, then show system apps ,and keep scrolling down to "PVR Service", try opening it, and then clearing the cache, just in case something is latched.

Now give it a try again.

If that doesn't work, do the same, and this type just clear data.  Not sure how the recording are stored, but if you have recording schedules stored, clearing data "may" clear any scheduled recordings, and possibly any recordings you may have stored on your device.

This is worth a try, since it is better than a complete reset of the box 🙂
