  1. Just to clear this up, BuzzTV G-Series is a certified Google TV device, so the platform and firmware update process is different from our regular Android boxes. There are multiple parties involved in this ecosystem, including the platform manufacturer and Google’s certification and approval process. Because of that, we cannot freely modify platform firmware the same way we can on our AOSP models. Platform-level changes must go through the proper approval, testing, and certification path. So this is not as simple as saying it is only “SEI firmware” or only “Google firmware.” That oversimplifies how a certified Google TV device works. From the customer side, the important point is simple: system updates follow the certified platform update path, while the BuzzTV 6 app is updated separately through the Google Play Store. From our side, we test, collect feedback, escalate issues through the proper channels, and work to get improvements delivered properly.

  2. What you are describing is an oversimplification of how a certified Google TV device works. This is not a typical AOSP box where one party can freely control and modify the firmware and update path.

  10. So my understanding, you are wondering why there is no "buzztv SMART REMOTE" option ? Keep in mind the remotes are very different. The X5 and the Powerstation have "smart" remotes (BT400/BT500) which you program to your TV and all. The Classic uses the BT350 which is not a Smart remote by the same definition. You do pair it using Bluetooth, and other than the 4 IR learning buttons, there is no programming the remote to match your TV, etc.. I typically don't program my BT400/BT500 remotes to my TV anyhow, but some do. The BT350 does not have that option (and I personally prefer it that way). I prefer the BT100/200/250 and 350 remote layouts, over the BT400/BT500 remotes, but that is personal taste. Since you are not "programming/matching" the remote to your TV in the same fashion you really don't need that app on the Classic Anniv, hence why it is not included. That smart remote app is included typically on devices that ship with the BT400 or BT500 remote.

  11. This is the first Google box by Buzz. Typically Buzz handles both Firmware and app (BuzzTV 6) updates themselves, and they are pushed by OTA. On this device, the box firmware will be handled by Google. And BuzzTV 6 app will be updated through the play store, by Buzz themselves (like the release an update of any other app on the play store). BuzzTV 6 get's regular updates now on the PowerStation and L1 (via OTA). So I am sure it will get regular updates through the Play store also. To get an idea of how long it will be supported, BuzzTV 5, was introduced at end of 2020 I believe, and it is still getting regular updates today on all boxes. Frequency depends on a number of factors, including criticality of any bugs that may exist, time of year (summer vacations or holidays), etc.. Sometimes it is a few in a month, other times it can be a 2 or 3 months, but with a larger update at the end. Hope this helps.

  12. Did you get the Classic AI? If yes, the P6 and Classic AI use the exact same Buzz 6 app, there are no differences

  16. No one received a custom unit. We had to set them up just like you. I had the same issue as you with it opening up subtitles. I then spent time working and figuring it out with the dev. Issue is resolved with a few changes in settings. Brick? The only brick here is your thick scull.

  17. Actually the box YOU received was customized just for you. As soon as you plugged it in, it detected your hardware configuration, sent the configuration back to the mother ship, and it then proceeded to adapting the last remote firmware you got, to ensuring you would be frustrated.

  28. No thermal paste. For thermal paste to be of any use, you need a heatsink. Thermal paste or pads are only meant to allow/facilitate the heat transfer from the drive to a heatsink so it can be dissipated easier.

  30. I have issues with EPG as well with this update. This is for an X5 box using XC login . It gives me "No information" with EPG, and scroll to 8 hours later it has a few hours of valid EPG. Weird I tried to clear EPG and change to "server" login and back to XML . Same thing . I installed Tivimate on this box and used same XC login . EPG works fine on Tivimate.

  33. So then the Buzz 6 app on the P6 could have just had a compatibility issue with the server you're using. Was it ever reported to our Support? We can't fix things blindly without knowing the details. Compatibility issues are very common. If it works great on Buzz 5/Classic Anniversary. This would be exactly what I am talking about

  46. When in the TV screen, press the menu button, and it would be on the bottom left.. 5.0.xxx Oh, and do you have you have your box set for shutdown or suspend when you press power button ? ie: when you power up, do you see the buzz logo every time ?

  47. First of all, it is not a "beta". It has not been a beta for nearly 5 years now What version are you running now (hit menu button, and should be on bottom left). Latest version is 5.0.961 For your EPG issue, have you tried to "CLEAR EPG" to see if it repopulates ? If EPG gets corrupted for some reason, it may fail to subsequently update, so you may need to clear it. Should be in the menu->settings->configuration if you scroll down to the EPG section. After you select "CLEAR EPG" give it 4 or 5 seconds, until you get the message saying it was cleared, before returning to main video screen.

  48. What is your definition of "regular setup stuff". When you boot the new machine, it will ask you basic stuff like language, and to pair the remote, and I believe to connect to network. You can do all these, and the box will then be able to take any updates (firmware and/or software). Then when you give it to your son, he only needs to connect to his wifi (easy enough), and add his IPTV provider credentials. If you want to test it, you can possibly even use your IPTV server credentials to test the box, and then when you are done, you can easily delete the server entry, leaving it blank for your son to be able to enter a new server. I do this all the time for friends and colleagues all the time. These boxes do NOT force you to sign into services like google play, etc...
