JOE CARO Posted December 4 Posted December 4 After Dec 3 2025 update I had to do a factory reset as advice , Because it was stuck on Buzztv logo. After factory reset I was able to reboot. Now I can connect to my ethernet but can't connect with WIFI. Also when adding a XC API Login for my Iptv service I get "Portal not supported message." My IPTV service info is correct also its working on other devices Quote
Jason Gittens Posted December 4 Posted December 4 (edited) FYI This update blocked google play from connecting on my X5, after the update i checked the play app to see if there were any APP updates and oddly the play app warned me i was not connected to wifi and that it needs to be connected to access the play store, the box was indeed connected, all the other apps were connected. i tried other WIFI connections, no luck, i tried Ethernet w/out wifi and with, same issue, still thinks its offline. reboot, still no luck. i log out of google from the buzz settings to try to re-login, and then that became blocked as well, i'd select google to login and it just hung and crashed and returned me to the home screen. So i reboot etc. different connections etc., same result, now the box is logged out of my google account and is now unable to connect to it. i did also try erasing both caches several times. Running out of options, i installed gmail to test this and try to log into that. and same issue. i then tried Youtube since it was a big part of the dec.3.2025 update, and to my surprise, that was logged in. it was the only google app that was able to connect. the only way to get this working was to do the dreaded factory reset, working fine again thankfully, but wow what a pain. I'd love to see a backup feature that backs up the apps and settings on these devices, to usb or cloud, that would be very helpful and customer friendly and would have made this fix a lot less time consuming. Emporium Posted December 5 Posted December 5 You will not see backups for 3rd party apps. That is the responsibility of the 3rd party apps themselves to allow you to export their settings for future import. Buzz already has a backup feature for their BuzzTV app itself, which includes server settings, app settings, favorites, etc... Even on an android phone, it is the app's responsibility to backup it's settings to the cloud. Sure the phone backup remembers what apps were installed and will reinstall upon reset, but unless the app saved it's settings in the cloud somehow, you will have to reconfigure it after it is reinstalled. Hell I remember when google authenticator did not even backup it's entries (or allow you to export) and I lost everything after a reset. That was a pain. I switch to MS authenticator after that, and shortly after, google added cloud sync for their authenticator, but I never bothered going back. Installing the "basic" apps is not a huge effort (I personally keep all the apk for all the apps I use on a share on my NAS (and on a USB stick), and it takes no time to install them if I need to do a reset. Now, if you have something like kodi or streamio installed with piles of plugins, scripts and custom settings, then that is all on those apps to offer a simple way to take a snapshot of the config for easy restore. Buzz boxes are not rooted or bootloader unlocked, so bootloader type backups are probably never going to be an option. Actually Buzz did have a full flash backup ages ago (I think on the old 3000 series), but that turned out to be a nightmare for most average users so it was replaced with the app backup going forward, which seems to suit "most" users just fine. 2 Quote

What versions to you have installed now ? First of all you don't sideload the Buzz F/W or S/W. They are send via OTA only (with few exceptions if customer services sees a need for small stuff and most of those are already in the downloads section of this forum). And if you try to sideload any Buzz F/W or S/W, you do so at your own risk. Also, where did you get those versions from ? The xrs4900 latest FW is V20220923 if I recall, and the latest S/W is 5.0.953 (which is the one listed here). Keep in mind, the xrs4900 is a pretty old series 4 box (which is still a great box - I have 2 of them), so don't expect too many F/W updates at this stage. It will see it's share of BuzzTV 5 SW updates however. If your box is not at that FW or Software after 48 hours of being poowered up, you can email cs@buzztv.com and give them the MAC address of your box, and your current versions and they can push updates to your box. Drumcrazd Posted December 8 Posted December 8 I was getting the looping reboot thing after my X5 box updated twice in a matter of days which I thought was odd.....I did a factory reset but now all I get is the Cannot load portal:Incorrect username or password.....can anyone help?.......thanks Quote
Emporium Posted December 8 Posted December 8 What type of sub: MAC, XC, M3U ? You double checked all spelling, caps/lowercase, and no extra spaces ? And you are sure it has not expired ? When you are in the server screen, you will see a URL on the top right (http://192.x.x.x:8090). If you go to a PC, and type that URL in (assuming you are not connected to VPN), you will be able to create a server entry using your PC or phone. That way you can cut&paste the URL/username/password to ensure no typos or extra spaces. Quote

Should start working afterwards 4 Quote

What is locking up exactly The x5 gets stuck on the buzztv logo and sits there until I unplug the x5 and replug it back in. Does it about 2-3 times a day, could be watching TV and it goes to the buzztv screen, could be changing servers, could be changing VPN, etc Quote

Emporium Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago So far so good, no issues. Would love to see the server edit feature when using local IP method. I know, you can edit them if you modify the URL and you know the internal server ID, but having them listed so you can select them through a UI works very nicely. Thanks for all the continued support on all these boxes. 1 Quote
