I think we will be removing the local IP method next update actually

As the web one works the same just better

It's  shame.  Some people prefer local options instead of being dependent on a server in the cloud.  At least the local version is not dependent on buzz keeping that remote server spinning a few years down the line.

Don't get me wrong, I like the UI on the remote server version, but at least the local one (even if you can only use it to add, and not edit) has no external dependencies.

Good afternoon,

There seems to be a bug on the Buzz e5 or classic with the backup player where it kicks you out of the Buzz 5 emulator and back to the home screen whenever it lands on a channel that says unknown stream or no video kicks in, note stream format setup as automatic.

I have played around with the stream type from automatic to ts or m3u. Some channels work better on the m3u while others work better on the ts stream format. Unfortunately, the kicking you out to the home screen is still prevalent but not as much as the automatic option.

the problem seems to have become more noticeable after the latest update.

I sideloaded tivimate to the box, and it recognized all the different stream types on the landed channels automatically with a much better and smother channel changes. Not once kicks out to the home screen.

Primary mode never kicks out to home screen but it won't recognize certain stream types.

This is happening on more than one end user using the e5 models and the classic models.

Can buzz can implement the different stream types into the primary player instead of changing the stream type and format.

thanks

Do you have tunneled playback or RTS turned on in the configuration menu?

And Backup Player is libvlc, so it going back to the home screen means the player is crashing on that stream.

And the stream format feature, is just there to show what the server offers
Its default to Auto

Most servers only offer TS or HLS
Auto plays HLS first and if that doesn't work it uses TS
We can't add more, as every provider offers it themselves, and it doesn't work the way you think it does

Some servers offer RTMP, but its rare.

I have experimented with both the enabling and disabling of the tunnel and RTS option, it did not improve the behavior of the box where it would kick you out to the home screen. The best option on the box was not to use automatic but either put it on TS or HLS(M3U) stream format, if the video did not kick in, change to the other option. Having it on automatic for the specific service that I was using, was very frustrating, so found the workaround.

It just happened again tonight with the backup player and stream format at automatic and I was kicked to the home screen 3 times. I duplicated the symptom on the channels called US spectrum where it kicked me out 3 times in less than a minute just by changing the channels. Never was kicked out with HLS or TS selected only.

Could the issue be the libvic player since the player is crashing on that specific stream and selecting the TS or HLS stream format somehow prevents the libvic player from trying to recognize what type of stream it is?

If somebody wants to DM, I can provide the service and a test sub to show that it is more prevalent where it fails, it does behave the same on a few more services but this one specific service, it is more noticeable or I can drop of my box to the queensway location, will need a temp box in lue off.

That backup player is definitely the issue. After more testing, we still were kicked out to the home screen regardless of if we had the Automatic, HLS or TS selected. On automatic with backup player, it was unwatchable and we were constantly having to reconnect after we are kicked out to the home screen.  We have decided to leave it on primary as much as possible while we switch channels, (if the stream comes up with the message, unknown stream), then we decide to flip it to the backup player and cross our fingers we don't get kicked out to the home screen. Overall, this is becoming a nuisance switching between Primary to backup and playing around with the automatic, HLS and Ts options for the video to kick in.

Tunnel play back or RTS makes no difference to the tv experience.

Thanks

looks like you need a better server. i have seen this issue on both players with many shitty servers. there's millions servers out there and buzz team can not fix every servers stream related issue.

im using backup player on one of the top notch server and has been rock solid for over 3 years. i have my boxes setup as suspend mode instead of shutdown and if I turn off my tv at night and by morning if I turn it on and it plays live tv instant without anyissue or crash.

reason im using backup player because on this top notch server some channels my parents watch work better on backup vs primary bacuse of the way there are encoded. 🙂

so better server will change your experince 🙂

except tivimate and iptvsmarters emulator performs as expected on the same service so BUZZ who are the premium boxes should be able to implement the same stability. Buzz emulator is the best out there for ease of use, and end user preferred. Buzz can and I believe in them that it can find the solution. At the minimum, don't get kicked out and having to reconnect.  I have tested over 15 services and only BUZZ emulator kicks out.

I have rarely had to use backup player for LiveTV streams at least.  It is my default for VOD/TV Series however.

The only time I "try" switching to backup player on livetv is when I have a channel that starts acting up, glitching or no audio.  And the switch over is just to confirm, but I often report it, and it is fixed quickly and then works fine with primary player again without an issue.

The backup player is touchy.  Sometimes I found it doesn't even scale properly.  If you go into menu and change from primary to backup and then go quickly into EPG or something where the stream is in a window, when you try to get out of it, it doesn't go back to full screen.  And sometimes the windowed version is not scaled, it is actually just a crop of the top right of the screen 🙂  So it is touchy.  So far with dozens of servers I have tried over the years, I have never really needed to switch between Primary and backup much.  Guess I'm just lucky.

Now for some M3U playlists I have, which are a collection of streams from various sources, that unfortunately, there have been cases where I do need to switch, but I often try and find another stream which plays well with Primary player.

There is unfortunately no "Perfect player".  Maybe an additional option like exoplayer would be a nice alternative.

VLC used to be my goto player on PC and Android a few years ago.  But the last 2 years, I have seen it become more and more unstable in my experience.  Not a buzz issue, but since the backup player is libvlc, it is probably inherits all of the VLC issues when using the backup player.
