  2. To add to this Truehd cant be passthrough, its a bluray format, its decoded on players, some receivers can decode it but it cant be passed through, its a lossless format takes a lot on bandwidth

  3. first of all, CH 657 is specific to your service. Here we do not discuss specific services. Keeping it generic, If your EPG is off ONLY on this channel, then the issue is on your providers end. If the EPG is off by 1hr on ALL channels, then you can change the offset in the EPG offset section under menu->settings->configuration->EPG Time Offset. Normally Buzz devices will use the EPG time zone settings provided by the server, and local time zone to calculate the offset automatically (I never had to change it manually on buzztv 5). But you can override it as mentioned above. But this affects "ALL" channels. Single channel issues, you will need to contact your provider.

  4. Linux is quite powerful. Many devices are still based on Linux, including many devices from many manufacturers of well known STB. Nice think about Linux, is that you can have a very light installation which will allow you to run exactly what you want with minimal resources. Not forced to install everything, including the kitchen sink, just because someone says so. There have also been many distributions over the years designed for HTPC use all based on Linux, like OpenElec, LibreElec, CoreELEC, etc.. CoreELEC even has a version which will run on BuzzTV boxes. Let's not forget, that Android is just an operating system, that is based on a modified version of the Linux kernel. So it does share many things. For the L1 player that Buzz is releasing shortly, we do not have much info yet. I am hoping that it will be running some version of BuzzTV, but without any confirmations or details yet, i do not want to start any rumours. We will just have to wait an see what surprise they have in store for us. My understanding is that it is being targeted for the budget conscious consumer.

  5. I apologize for the late response on this We looked into it atmos passthrough works fine.. truehd cant be passed through hdmi, bluray players decode it directly basically for atmos passthrough to work it needs to use EAC3 container. Which is what Disney+ uses for example.

  8. Do you have a 5.1 Surround system ? I believe it tries to do passthrough to a device that can decode it (so obviously it does not control volume if decoding is done elsewhere). If not, From home screen, go to Settings->Device Preferences->Display & Sound->Advanced sound settings->Select Formats, and select "None: Never use surround sound".

  9. That second backup, as much as it may "sound" useful, in reality it is often not. 99% of the time, when you perform a reset, it is to address some strange issues (strange behaviours and often due to corruptions or incompatibilities between apps). Doing a full backup, and then restoring it, you are just copying ever whatever crap caused the problem in the first place. The new backup method, backs up exactly what is important to most buzz users, which is the settings of the BuzzTV IPTV apps (server settings, and favorites), and it is not in any binary format, they are exported to a yaml file, which (similar to other markup languages) is ideal for configuration files, so it backs up just what is needed and not the cache files, binaries, orphaned files, etc.. which can be the source of the strange behaviours you are often trying to correct. 3rdparty apps that are complex to setup and configure, SHOULD have their own mechanism to export their configuration. A full backup should not be a substitute for the lack of 3rdparty devs not foreseeing and easy way to do a backup of their software settings. Just my view and opinion. I was also skeptical when the new backup mechanism was introduced since I was used to the old/full mechanism (old habits die hard), but after using both, I have realized that the full one, was really less useful. This new mechanism I use on many boxes and quite regularly.

  10. This message has to do with the weather widget that’s built into the BuzzTV 5 home screens. You will get that message on the Classic, Player 1 and 2 home screens, or weather not available on the Modern screen. Support@buzztv advised it will be addressed in an upcoming update.

  12. First of all, this question has nothing to do with the 4900 As a matter of fact, the 4900 in my opinion has been one of the best boxes Buzz has ever released. It has stood the test of time, and even though I have piles of other newer buzz boxes, my 2x 4900 boxes are still my daily drivers on my 2 main TVs. There are literally 1000s of services. Mentioning every service out there is not an option and has nothing to do with the box. And peoples needs are different. I offers 3 different services to family and friends, and depending on their needs (locals, sports, international, vod, tv series, etc..), I will recommend a different service. And it goes without saying that there is NO service that is 100% flawless. IF people can't tolerate the occasional glitches, then they should at least have a second service as a backup. Or just go back to cable/sat or other services that actually offer an SLA, and cost 10 times more. There are many other forums that have discussions of many of the main services we typically use. Many of us on this forum are also present on those forums (often with similar handles). If people want to test some services, to see if other streams work better, there are plenty of free streams out there. People can use google and search for "github free-iptv" or even "plutotv channel m3u", and many others, and they can use those. Truth is, I know a few people who have more than they need, just by using some of these free lists. I often use these lists and create my own M3U for backup purposes for family and friends. You'd be surprised how many decent channels out there are available via free streaming links. So to get back to your question, we need to respect the policies laid out by BuzzTV for this forum and concentrate on actual h/w or s/w issues that are at the heart of these boxes. BuzzTV does not condone or recommend any the use of any specific service (legal or otherwise).

  14. ya you can't do a backup from utilities and use it on a different model you can backup app settings, servers, favourites and favourite groups and use that on another model

  16. agree would love to have edit existing servers

  17. One of the best features Buzz added. Makes it so much easier when setting up a box. Future improvement would be nice if they show you the current servers and allow you to select one and edit it. It can be done manually if you know the index and alter the URL manually, but would be nice if they had a small UI for it. But that is just a "nice to have"

  19. Like Ryu said. Super simple. If your PC (or phone) is on same Network, just open a browser and type the address listed on top of the server screen. example: http://192.168.1.139:8090 The use the form you see in front of you to enter the info, and then "save".
    2 points
  20. make sure your box and pc/phone are connected to same network then go to server settings on your box. looks at the IP address on top right corner. enter that IP address with port on your browser then fill up server info and you can add like that as many servers you want to.

  21. LiveTV, VOD, TV Series ? Have you tried changing Players in the config menu ? BuzzTV version ? (and please don't say "lastest one".

  22. that's why if you need a ps replacement order it from buzz

  23. Agreed, forgot about that one, since I never had one But the 3900 also used a 5v,3A power adapter instead of the usual 5V,2A on other boxes. So "technically"if they needed 12V for the sata connector (assuming it was actually wired for 12V), they have a little more current to allow some up-converting to get the 12V. But obviously I did not design the boxes, nor open them up to investigate how it was done. I am just "assuming". Bottom line is, make sure you are using the power adapter that came with your specific box, or at least something of the same voltage, and at least the same amount of "A".

  24. So buzz would have to program in every external player and change their software every time they update their player. Why not ask the player guys to change their software?

  25. Now you know what I asked if youtube was working Do yourself a favor. Change the "powerkey definition" to shutdown, instead of "suspend" (if I recall, from home screen, go to settings->more settings->powerkey definition). Yes it takes an extra minute to power up, but at least it is a clean boot all the time. not just waking up from a suspended state.

  26. Pretty sure it does NOT auto reboot. It comes back to the menu after it erases and formats the various partitions. You need to select the reboot option. So before selecting reboot, I just wipe the param partition before rebooting. But like I said, I am pretty sure that is already part of the "Factory reset". It is just a habit from an old box that would not do it on an older version of android.

  29. The more i learn all the features and get used to my U5, the more i love it. This is a terrific Streaming box. Even after i buy your newest tech, i will keep the U5 as my standby. At first it was nothing but headaches because i'm a tech idiot. But once i figured out what the hell i was doing, i fell in love with the box. I have forgotten my XRS4500 and my Firestick4k.

  30. I've found from suspend if the widget doesn't receive an API request update the weather will display the last info it received. If I shut down or restart the box the caches will clear and you will get the "weather not available" message. If you change to one of the other Home Screens a message will pop up "too many request", so it's appears there are too many API calls and it's getting locked out from the suppliers servers until it resets. I've left this with allaboutbuzz and CS to sort out. Thanks for your help and feedback.

  32. Didn't know where to post! I have both the 4900 & 4000, both are excellent boxes. I have advised others, to purchase Buzz boxes, because of their reliability and ease of use, with the built in app. I do respect the terms and conditions of this forum, and read the posts often. Thanks Emporium

  39. You are lucky it was in that direction. DO NOT use the U5 power supply on the older boxes (except the xrs4900). The U5 and XRS4900 use a 12V power supply (due to the internal HDD), most (if not all) of the other Buzz boxes use a 5V power supply. Do it in the other direction and it may be a "smokey" experience.

  40. Bonehead move on my part. I was not using the power supply that came with it, was using power supply for old box. Thanks for the tip.

  45. First of all, it would help if you mentioned which box you are using. The BT400 comes with many boxes. Since you reset the remote, do you actually see a volume bar now on the screen when you try to change volume up/down ? If not, can you check if you have "Force MAX volume" option enabled ? You say you connected a wireless speaker, but you don't say if it is paired to the box, or your TV ? Have you tried using the TV remote to increase the TV volume ?
