I hate the slow response of the BT-400 with my X-5.  I think it's the blue tooth ability. I was told that it can be converted to IR but I cannot find any info on it. Can somebody tell me where to find it if it is so? The manuals are very brief and very little information.

Slow response ?  Mine in pretty instantaneous, even with BT paired.

Just go into "remotes and accessories" in the settings, and UNPAIR the remote.  You can then just point it to the box to use the IR.

Do you have your WiFi router close to your buzz box ?

Don't forget that BT and WiFi both operate on 2.4Ghz.   Try changing the 2.4Ghz channel on your WiFi router if you are relatively close (channel 1, 6 or 11 to ensure non overlapping channels).  There may be an interference.  I would tell you to disable 2.4Ghz and stick to 5Ghz band only, but many IoT devices are 2.4Ghz only.
