Youtube is not supported on this device

I bought this unit about 3 or 4 weeks ago. From the beginning it said YouTube is not supported on this device. I've seen a lot of other models with the same issues and perhaps they're being fixed perhaps or not. But I would like an update on this particular model when this will be fixed. We phoned in gave them our Mac address. Told him about the issue. We're told they'd get back to us and we've heard crickets. 

We were going to return it and support convinced us that this would be a non-issue.

BTY I also have a classic and it works just fine.

check app permissions including google

You are correct but that is when I got the onscreen message that the device is not supported.

If you are logged into to the google play store (I never do on any of my boxes), then there is a strong possibility that google coincidently pushed an update for some google services or framework, which affected youtube.

I don't use Google play store on any of my devices including my cell phone and this almost 10 years running

I do and all my boxes have youtube working

You are one lucky dude because it works on all my boxes except the P6 and the OP says it doesn't work on his SS.
