JOE CARO Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago After Dec 3 2025 update I had to do a factory reset as advice , Because it was stuck on Buzztv logo. After factory reset I was able to reboot. Now I can connect to my ethernet but can't connect with WIFI. Also when adding a XC API Login for my Iptv service I get "Portal not supported message." My IPTV service info is correct also its working on other devices Quote
Jason Gittens Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) FYI This update blocked google play from connecting on my X5, after the update i checked the play app to see if there were any APP updates and oddly the play app warned me i was not connected to wifi and that it needs to be connected to access the play store, the box was indeed connected, all the other apps were connected. i tried other WIFI connections, no luck, i tried Ethernet w/out wifi and with, same issue, still thinks its offline. reboot, still no luck. i log out of google from the buzz settings to try to re-login, and then that became blocked as well, i'd select google to login and it just hung and crashed and returned me to the home screen. So i reboot etc. different connections etc., same result, now the box is logged out of my google account and is now unable to connect to it. i did also try erasing both caches several times. Running out of options, i installed gmail to test this and try to log into that. and same issue. i then tried Youtube since it was a big part of the dec.3.2025 update, and to my surprise, that was logged in. it was the only google app that was able to connect. the only way to get this working was to do the dreaded factory reset, working fine again thankfully, but wow what a pain. I'd love to see a backup feature that backs up the apps and settings on these devices, to usb or cloud, that would be very helpful and customer friendly and would have made this fix a lot less time consuming. Emporium Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago You will not see backups for 3rd party apps. That is the responsibility of the 3rd party apps themselves to allow you to export their settings for future import. Buzz already has a backup feature for their BuzzTV app itself, which includes server settings, app settings, favorites, etc... Even on an android phone, it is the app's responsibility to backup it's settings to the cloud. Sure the phone backup remembers what apps were installed and will reinstall upon reset, but unless the app saved it's settings in the cloud somehow, you will have to reconfigure it after it is reinstalled. Hell I remember when google authenticator did not even backup it's entries (or allow you to export) and I lost everything after a reset. That was a pain. I switch to MS authenticator after that, and shortly after, google added cloud sync for their authenticator, but I never bothered going back. Installing the "basic" apps is not a huge effort (I personally keep all the apk for all the apps I use on a share on my NAS (and on a USB stick), and it takes no time to install them if I need to do a reset. Now, if you have something like kodi or streamio installed with piles of plugins, scripts and custom settings, then that is all on those apps to offer a simple way to take a snapshot of the config for easy restore. Buzz boxes are not rooted or bootloader unlocked, so bootloader type backups are probably never going to be an option. Actually Buzz did have a full flash backup ages ago (I think on the old 3000 series), but that turned out to be a nightmare for most average users so it was replaced with the app backup going forward, which seems to suit "most" users just fine.
