iserna Posted June 14, 2025 Posted June 14, 2025 Hello. I’ve had no problems with my U5 since I bought it. I went out for vacation and since returning, the U5 had a black screen. Unplugged and waited for 5 mins and when plugging it back, it loads the BuzzTV animated screen logo and then goes back to black. After about 4 minutes it restarts and does the same thing again. Any suggestions regarding what I should do? Thanks! Quote
Ryu Posted June 14, 2025 Posted June 14, 2025 not sure if the power supply was disconnected and if yes make sure using original power supply. also, try a different outlet if possible. try to disconnect all external devices like usb, or external drives and swap hdmi cable. if still nothing then factory reset using AV hole with tooth pick. 1 Quote

Thank you. I did what you suggested. Checked the cable and it’s the original one. Changed HDMI cables and ports. Also used the toothpick on the back and got a message saying restart or power off. I selected restart and same thing happens. Any more help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Quote
nbs. Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 If you are getting that message you are not doing the reset properly Follow this guide different model but same procedure 2 Quote
iserna Posted June 15, 2025 Author Posted June 15, 2025 I tried that. All I get is the BuzzTv fix logo (no animation). No restore menu. Am I doing something wrong? I unplugged the unit, used the toothpick, plugged the unit while keeping the toothpick pressing the button. Nothing happens. The led is red and after about 90 seconds turns blue. When it goes blue, the HDMI signal is lost. Thanks Quote
Mark7 Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 I think your power supply may have failed. Try and get a new one, the unit is probably fine. Mark7 1 Quote
Ryu Posted June 15, 2025 Posted June 15, 2025 you did not get recovery screen? if possible try a different power supply to see if that helps and if its still under warranty I would contact buzztv support. 1 Quote

Nahannz Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Did a new power supply work? I am experiencing the same issue with my U5 now. It loads the buzztv logo and gets stuck there. After several minutes it goes black. The hard reset has not been loading the restore menu. Edited 5 hours ago by Nahannz Quote

Emporium Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Are you using the original power supply ? You sure you have not mixed it with another box ? The xrs4900, U5, and the P6 use a 12V power supply. Most other boxes only use a 5V power supply. When you are trying the hard reset, do you feel the click as you put something in the AV hole ? Hint: I like using a Q-Tip, and cutting the tip off of it, and using that for inserting into the AV hole. I find the stem on the q-tips are just the right thickness that they fit into the A/V hold and go straight in without shifting in any angle direction. And since it is not conductive, no chance of shorting anything. You can also feel a nice firm click when you actually press the button that is inside. Quote

The box was working this morning, but glitched out while I was watching live TV. After it glitched out, the box auto restarted, and loaded the server screen. The remote did not work when that happened, and the box quickly reset back to the loading screen. I have used a paper clip and a non-conducting micro-hex screw driver to do the hard reset. I do feel the click when I press inside of the AV hole. When I plug the power supply back into the box after clicking, it simply loads back to the buzztv screen. Quote
nbs. Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Are you holding the button down until recovery screen appears? Quote

I did find one issue... my device was auto turning on (Blue light) after plugging in my device. When I was holding the reset it was not going to recovery screen. I plugged the device back in and immediately pushed the button while the front light was still red. I got the recovery screen and selected reboot now and it got stuck on the load screen again. I'm back to the recovery screen now... what should my next step be? Quote
