Hhh
Hello All, I have been noticing intermittent issues on my Buzz box:- XRS4500 Version 9. Build V20220106.20220106 Kernel:4.9.113 Buzz TV 5.0.919 Updated on 02/09/2024 Upon selecting either a VOD or browsing through Live TV channels, it fails to load the screen stating MEDIA FORMAT IS NOT SUPPORTED. This happens intermittently and I can sometimes get around the issue by performing a reboot of the box. At times, it also just hangs when scrolling Live TV up and down. Any idea what can be causing this, or any checks I can perform. It is hard for me to explain as this is an intermittent issue. Thanks for all the help H. Ryu
try clear cache and see if that helps. also, switch media player might help too. also you should be at 9.0.935 if im not wrong. I dont have that box but I believe it should be at .935 try to click update from setting from live tv and see if that helps.
Emporium
.935 is the latest also on the 4500, I just checked my box to make sure it was not skipped. But my firmware is at V20220919, so you firmware is not up to date also. If you do an "Update" and it says you are at the latest, then maybe reach out to buzz with your MAC, and firmware number and see if they can push it to you. Like Ryu mentioned, in menu-Settings->configuration, try changing the video players. On my service, the best options are Primary for LiveTV, and "Backup" for VOD/TV Series, but that may be different depending on your service. For VOD/TV Series, you can also choose external and that way you can choose to use external VLC, MX Player, HB Player or whatever other media player you have. I sometimes used that for some oddly encoded movies, but for the most part, I use backup. Also, do you have the "Tunneled playback" and/or "RealTime streaming" options enabled ? If so, turn them off. They are not compatible with all services and can have side effects. Also, another test if all else fails, is to turn off "Timeshift" feature if you have it enabled. Sometimes a faulty/flaky USB stick can cause issues with timeshift.
Hhh
Thanks for the responses. Let me take a look at what is requested. Also for cache cleaning is there a recommended way to do this? Does a restart of Buzz not do that?

Hhh
Thanks for the responses. Sorry for the late reply. I finally cleared the cache. I will see if that helped and will post back here. Emporium - external player does not help. My firmware says its on latest. XRS4500 Version 9. Emporium
When you selected EXTERNAL for VOD, what external player did you use ? That is very odd. If you could not get it to work with any external player, then good luck for any player to play it.
Hhh
I cant remember but I will try it again. Here is my problem - I am unable to reproduce this at will. I love everything about my Buzz box - but 2 issues remain:- 1. Sometimes playing VOD gives MEDIA FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED 2. Randomly Buzz player hangs, meaning while watching a VOD movie - it stops streaming, starts back, stops again - and eventually becomes unwatchable. ( I am unsure if my cleaning cache as per above recommendation has helped yet or not....I will know more in the evening but again this too is intermittent.)
