  1. I have a U5 that is all setup just the way I like everything.

My question is if I buy a second U5 could I take the backup I made of my first U5 and install that backup on my second U5 and would everything be the same on both boxes?

I have programs like a VPN, iPTV providers, Speed test sites and a few other programs that are all setup, this would make everything a lot easier if I could use this backup to setup my second U5.

    Is this possible?

Are you doing only LONG recordings, or you have tried with short ones also ?

Reason I ask, is because the internal format on the box is in FAT32 filesystem format.  Unfortunately, FAT32 has a limitation of 4GB per file.  Anything longer and it will fail.   For longer recordings you will unfortunately need to format whatever media you are using, in exFAT format.  ie: plug it into a PC and reformat the USB or SATA drive to exFAT in order to accommodate larger than 4GB files.

Just curious, you do not have a Vizio TV or using some electrical heater/fireplace with remote ?   Reason I also ask, is because my mom has both, and the Vizio remote has a few keys which mess with the BuzzTV box.   And her electrical "fireplace", when I try to change the temp it powers off the buzz box.   So it seems like some devices have conflicting IR codes.   On her box that has this issue, I just put the box out of site and put electrical tape on the front to avoid any IR from getting through, and got her an ARQ-200 remote.  Inconvenient, YES, but really unlucky to have 2 devices that also mess with the buzz IR codes.

If issues persist, I strongly recommend to just bite the bullet and try a factory reset and see if that helps.  Yes you will lose everything on the box, but at least you will know if it is some sort of internal glitch or something that is latched.  Considering most of us do NOT have this issue it is something exceptional.

RESET Video for the 4500, but procedure is identical.

Emporium, I have a 1 terabyte Samsung SSD I want to format to exFAT to use in my Buzztv U5, what allocation unit size do you recommend I use?

you can use phone/pc or a file

    no typing required

Maybe I am to dumb to understand what you are saying but would you not have to type in the link in even if you use a phone, pc or file?

and if they used the buzztv app they wouldn't have to type anything

I don't understand this statement, I use the Buzztv app and I always need to type in all my information if I add a new portal or new M3U link.

When adding M3U I get message can not load portal: Not supported

99.9% of the time when this is encountered something is typed wrong in the link you typed in.

Make sure EVERYTHING (letter's, punctuation marks, numbers, EVERYTHING IS CORRECT)!

I think you may have gotten these 2 mixed up.

The 4500 and Android 9 boxes. We were backing up the entire OS. So yes depending on the amount of data you had on the box. It could take 45 minutes. As you're backing up GBs of data.

On Android 11 devices with our recent OTA update. We made a new Backup/Restore feature for the Buzz app only. So yes taking 3 seconds is normal as the data is basically 1MB or less in size.

Thank you allaboutbuzz for explaining it to me, I thought I may have been doing something wrong.

    3 seconds it is

So you are saying it is normal for the U5 to do a complete Backup in as little as 3 seconds and the 4500 boxes take almost 45 minutes?

  8. How long is it taking people to do a Backup on the U5?

The reason I am asking is because it only take me abut 3 seconds to do a Backup on my U5.

On all my 4500 boxes ( I have 3 of these) it usually take me almost 45 minutes to do a Backup on each one of these.

Am I doing something wrong on the U5 or is it really that fast to do a Backup on the U5 (3 seconds)?

  11. Does your IPTV provider allow you to have more then 1 connection to your service at a time?

To be able to record one and watch another your IPTV provider need to allow at least 2 connections at a time.

Example: My provider allows 4 connections at a time, I can record 3 different programs and watch 1 program all at the same time.

  12. Emporium, dishuser you guys are correct!

After recording a scheduled recording the box will not shut down but it does go back to the home screen and no bandwidth is used after the recording is recorded (at least that is what it does on the U5 box).

    This is GREAT!!
