X5 Buzz volume keeps dropping off.

Have you checked in the settings if the "Max volume" option is enabled ?   If MAX Volume is enabled, then you only control volume from your TV (so volume on box does nothing).   If Max volume is turned off, then the box has variable volume controlled by the volume buttons.
