vlad-jr Posted Friday at 07:34 PM Posted Friday at 07:34 PM After the Buzztv logo, the box goes to the Android recovery screen. It says "Can't load Android system, your data may be corrupt". Factory reset doesn't help. Any ideas? Quote
Emporium Posted Friday at 08:10 PM Posted Friday at 08:10 PM And you are sure you removed all external storage ? No USB, and no MicroSD card installed ? Sound like some serious corruption if it always jumps to the recovery screen. I'd say to try to contact cs @ buzztv.com first and see if they have any recommendations. If all else fails, you have nothing to lose to try using the update that is presently in the downloads section maybe. Maybe it repairs the file that has gotten corrupt. https://stbtalk.com/files/file/6-e2-series-update/ 1 Quote
vlad-jr Posted Friday at 08:51 PM Author Posted Friday at 08:51 PM The update in the downloads section is V20211108 with BuzzTV 4, and my box had V20220916 with BuzzTV 5. I'm not sure these discontinued boxes will still update themselves. But I'll go ahead and try to install it, and wait for an update. If it doesn't update, I will contact buzztv if they can push an update or send me a file. Quote
vlad-jr Posted Friday at 09:28 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:28 PM I tried to install the file, but it won't install an older update over a newer build. Quote
Emporium Posted Friday at 10:10 PM Posted Friday at 10:10 PM Just making sure you checked that there was no MicroSD installed in the box ? I know it was old, but it was worth a shot. Even if it had managed to "downgrade" you could have then updated back to buzztv5 (even if you had to ask them to push the latest update to the box [assuming they even still have it]). Box is quite old, so I would not expect miracles. I have a few different boxes from different vendors and many are now dead. Got nothing to lose to email customer support and see if there is any options. But obviously with the holidays upon us, don't expect any super quick reply. Quote
vlad-jr Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Support says they don't have the newer firmware, and even if they did, they don't give out firmware for their devices. I'll try to force install the older release, have nothing to lose, the box is a doorstop right now. I'd advise not buying the e2 or e2 Max currently being sold on Amazon. Quote
Emporium Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago There is no good reason today to buy a new E2 (from a 3rd party seller) unless it is super discounted. The unit is an old model (announce in 2020, and introduced beginning of 2021). It was great for it's time and got some long term support (started with BuzzTV 4, got many updates, then was updated to even support BuzzTV 5). I still use mine on the TV in my Kitchen for nearly 5 years now. I don't know where you are located. The newer Entry level 5 series (B5 and E5 essentials) are about the same price nowadays, direct from buzz. And when you get them during holiday events, they have 15% off sales (or a buy one get one 50% off - perfect if you are buying 2 boxes), free shipping within Canada for orders over CAD$99, and those outside of Ontario even save on provincial taxes. I recently bought 5 e2's for great price and they all got updated without any issue and working rock solid 1 Quote

I also have an e2 SE that works ok, I hope I won't have any future problem with it. Quote

I would still buy me E2 if I find good price which I did Quote
Emporium Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago All electronic items can go defective. Doesn't take much. One bad bit in a memory chip can kill any device. And it can happen for a variety of reasons. Even a simple static discharge, if you are unlucky, can do it. My E2 (and many other buzztv boxes I have) has taken dozens of updates over the years, and so far I have not had any issues with any of them. 1 Quote
