Hello, I just purchased the BuzzTV 4900 earlier this week.   The unit with setups and the firmware was updated.

I’m getting a lot of buffering and after a short time i get the message “Buzz TV 5 isn’t responding”, i think need to shut the unit down and restart.

I don’t think it’s my server as I’m running an older Buzz unit with the same server and have no issues.  The 4900 is connected via Ethernet.

I’ve tried to connect the unit using my wifi but can’t seem to connect to my router that is located nearby.

I had really high hopes for this unit, but so far it’s a dud.

I’m hoping someone can help me.

also, can you explain little more why you can not connect to your wifi? what is the error you getting? what key are you pressing after entering your password?

I completed a factory reset and no change.

Regarding the wifi, when I try to connect to my home wifi,  i put in my password but it just doesn’t connect.  I’m wondering if my unit is defective?

I’ve never had issues with any device to connect to my home wifi.

Yes, Ethernet is plugged in.

When my wifi is off on the unit, the Ethernet is does not connect, i need to turn on the wifi switch then then my Ethernet is connected.  This is why I’m thinking something is wrong with my unit.

unplug ethernet and try wifi again

I unplugged the ethernet and the wifi works.  And the buffering as stopped.

I would prefer to use Ethernet as it is more stable and consistent.  What do you think?  Is the ethernet port on my unit defective?

The ethernet cable that is connected my new BuzzTV unit is the same cable my old unit was plugged with, that is why I’m thinking it could be the port on my new unit.

when you plug in ethernet and go to settings does it show ethernet connected?

With wifi off, i connected the ethernet and then restarted the unit.  I  went to the “Network and Internet” settings and it is showing the ethernet as not connected.

I need to turn my wifi on/off and then the ethernet shows as connected.

I did a speed test as follows:

With ethernet:  download 73mbps, upload 8.5mbps

with wifi:  download  101mbps, upload 9.98mbps.

I guess i should continue with the wifi connection?
