DRAG00N519 Posted September 27 Posted September 27 hey guys is anyone else having an issue with the google play store when I click on it it says this device is not connected to the Internet but I'm connected via ethernet and every other app is working just fine when I clear the data of the google play store it will start working again but only for a short period of time I've tried deleting my google account from my device and re-adding it and seeing if that works I've also tried clearing the cache and uninstalling the updates for the google play store none of those things make a difference and like I said the only thing that works is clearing the data of the app Quote

DRAG00N519 Posted Wednesday at 04:37 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:37 PM is there anything that can be done to fix the google play store connection error besides deleting the data of the app I'm assuming I must one of a few people experiencing this issue if not the only one because I think it would have been reported before now Quote
Emporium Posted Wednesday at 05:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:26 PM The other reality is, that many people do NOT use the Google play store. Like myself, I do not like putting my google account on any of these boxes except in rare occasions, so play store is not used. I have all the application apk/apkx I want on a USB stick (and on a share folder on my NAS) and I typically just sideload everything. I occasionally use the Aptoide store that is pre-installed if I need some random app for testing. Very few apps I need/want the google play store for. Analiti would be one, but not something I need regularly (at least not for me). This is also easier when you are testing and factory resetting boxes regularly 2 Quote

Dave J Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:03 PM Unfortunately I've also had some problems with Playstore lately on my Classic. The first was not being able to sign in at all, and discovered that the culprit in this case was a Play Services update from Aptoide. Once I uninstalled that update things were OK. That was a couple of months ago. Over the last couple of weeks when I try to sign in to Playstore, the screen goes black! I have to hit the back button, clear the Playstore cache, then it's good to go again. That's happened to me twice. What's causing this, don't know, but I'm just putting it out there for info. Just a note, I do use Playstore for some apps, but I always delete the account when I'm finished. However that only deletes the account on the box; you also need to login to your Google account to actually sign out of the account on the box. Now, all auto-updates are always turned off. Inconvenient, but it's a work around for now. Quote

Inconvenient, but it's a work around for now. Not being able to login has been narrowed down to having Chrome Browser installed on the box Once users uninstalled Chrome Browser, the login issues went away Google seems to be making a lot of changes lately and causing issues for a lot of different things. Keep in mind Chrome browser is a Mobile app, you cannot get it from the TV App store. Could be some correlation there. Starting this week we have resorted to Pre Installing Firefox instead of Chrome on brand new Android 11 boxes, as the support tickets kept growing. Quote
Dave J Posted Wednesday at 10:55 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:55 PM (edited) Thanks, I'll give that a try. Never liked Chrome on the box as I can never get the keyboard to work when I use it (the curser scrolls up, down and only to the left, not to the right). Edited Wednesday at 10:58 PM by Dave J Quote
