Audio passthrough issue – BuzzTV Powerstation 6 (Dolby Atmos / Dolby Digital dropouts)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello BuzzTV Support,

I own a BuzzTV Powerstation 6 and I am experiencing an issue with audio passthrough.
Whenever I use Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, Dolby TrueHD, or Dolby Atmos passthrough, the sound briefly cuts out whenever I press any button on the remote (for example, when showing “Info” about the current video, adjusting volume, or opening any on-screen display).

I would like to use my AVR (Denon/Marantz) to decode the audio formats directly, but these constant dropouts make Atmos and other passthrough formats unusable.

Could you please advise if this is:

a known firmware issue,

a setting I may have overlooked (RAW vs IEC passthrough, audio mixing, etc.),

or if there is an upcoming update that will fix this?

Thank you for your support.

I can duplicate what Richard says but only when I am streaming 4k video.  If I drop down to FHD or lower the audio drop outs go away.

i am running a 7.1 system through a Trinnov Altitude16

Are you using the HDMI ARC port to the box?

And what version of HDMI is your receiver?

If you do not have HDMI 2.1 on receiver 4k and Atmos will exceed bandwidth basically.

turn decode on because most services only offer 5.1 for fhd

Makes sense.
Sorry but where would I find the decode switch?

Nevermind, found it.

Bummer but switching from hdmi to decode didn’t have any apparent effect.
Audio still drops out during button press when in 4k mode.

(Easy fix is not to press buttons while watching 4k, lol)

Maybe try to change to a better quality HDMI cable ?  If it is not HDMI 2.1 compliant, bandwidth would be restricted as aab mentioned above.  It would be fine in lower resolutions, but not possibly not in 4k.

the powerstation comes with an 8k (2.1) cable

True, but it can still be damaged/defect (it happens).  And was never mentioned that they were actually using the original cable which came with the Powerstation.  Worth trying another one.
