HELP... SRX4500Max freeze at boot and then black screen

i came home after work to discover the one month old  Buzztv SRX4500max 'froze' it would not shut down.  I unplugged the unit, waited and plugged it back in

 

after the initial splash screen and the bottom menu appears the background can be seen but nothing overlaid. 

 

When I hit the power button text briefly appears 'Shutting down...' then it freezes and is no longer responsive

 

was an update pushed out or something?

 

short of a factory reset what (if anything) can I do ?

 

frustrating because otherwise i have been very happy with this unit!

you will need to do a hard reset

I did do a hard reset! Luckily I had a full backup as well! The unit came back after the reset. All is good now! Thank you for your reply!
