  1. UPDATE:

    As correctly mentioned, I waited for some time and now I have version 5.0.937.

    I added the server entry again (which was the easy part).  Now I will have to browse through 1000s of channels to list my favorites 🙂

    If you recall, yesterday I mentioned that the backup piece took a long time and screen want blank:- I am guessing this was a sign for me that the backup was corrupted perhaps?

    Now, I will wait for tonight and see if the hang happens at the beginning of starting my streaming session. 
    Thanks until now to get this updates, now I really hope this fixes my issue.

  2. so last night - same issue. The hang happened when I begin to watch Live TV or VOD. (mostly VOD).

    This morning I did the Hard Reset. Paired my remote. New version: 5.0.766 (wont let me get a newer version)

    It shows REMOTE FOUND but would NOT exit that remote pairing screen so I had to use BACK to get out of that screen.

    Then the TV screen goes blank. I take out the power of Buzz and re-insert to start it again. (this is the only way I get the buzz start up screen)

    When I go to RESTORE from last nights backup - it says RESTORE file corrupted 🙂

     

  3. Ok,  Took power out and plugged back in.

    I see 5.0.946 now. Not sure how :).  So far it is working.

    I'll wait for the issue to happen again, and at that point, you recommended HARD RESET/PIN.  I cannot locate a spot on my Buzz box for a PIN reset, what could I be missing?

  4. I have never backed up Buzz TV settings: can you list the steps please?

    Also - is there a setting to turn Buzz off after 2 hours of inactivity?: If so where is it?

    I am not sure why my Buzz version is different - when I ask for it to check Update - it says its UPDATED.

    My Specs:-

    XRS4500 Version 9. Build V20220106.20220106 Kernel:4.9.113  | Buzz TV 5.0.937  | HighSpeed AT&T Fiber Internet.

     

    Issue:-

    Intermittently Buzz box hangs. I am unable to scroll through live TV channels.  and also starting a VOD movie does nothing.

     

    Workaround:-

    RESTART buzz box.  Sometimes this work with one restart. Sometimes it does with more than one.  This is very frustrating as typically we only use the Buzz box few hours in the evening. This has becomes an issue almost every evening now.

     

    Items Tried :-

    As mentioned a restart helps sometimes.  But not sure why I need to do this daily?

    Cleared cache as recommended in earlier forums. But this did not help.

    Once we get it to work - it works seamlessly.  The issue is always when we begin watching each evening.

     

    Thoughts and if this a known issue with any fixes?

  6. I cant remember but I will try it again.   

    Here is my problem - I am unable to reproduce this at will.

    I love everything about my Buzz box - but 2 issues remain:-

    1. Sometimes playing VOD gives MEDIA FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED

    2. Randomly Buzz player hangs, meaning while watching a VOD movie - it stops streaming, starts back, stops again - and eventually becomes unwatchable. ( I am unsure if my cleaning cache as per above recommendation has helped yet or not....I will know more in the evening but again this too is intermittent.)

     I have been noticing intermittent issues on my Buzz box:-

    XRS4500 Version 9. Build V20220106.20220106 Kernel:4.9.113

    Buzz TV 5.0.919 Updated on 02/09/2024

    Upon selecting either a VOD or browsing through Live TV channels, it fails to load the screen stating MEDIA FORMAT IS NOT SUPPORTED.

    This happens intermittently and I can sometimes get around the issue by performing a reboot of the box. At times, it also just hangs when scrolling Live TV up and down.

     

    Any idea what can be causing this, or any checks I can perform. It is hard for me to explain as this is an intermittent issue.

  8. Hmm, I hear ya.  and Yes I did come here last year with a post on subtitles and I remember it was FAST AND FURIOUS but in that use case, it was the special character in play. I got around it by skipping the special character. (btw- how does one enter special characters in a VOD search keyboard? I dont see any option)

    But in this case, there are no special characters, it returns about 10 titles, with AIR FORCE ONE (French), AIR FORCE ONE (German), etc but does not return just AIR FORCE ONE.  (does anyone know of a way to HIDE other languages in VOD SEARCHES? I am able to HIDE that in Categories)

  9. Looks like it is working for you. But that doesnt help me.

    It is not working at my end, hence the reason for this post: to get some assistance in troubleshooting the VOD search.

    and we both might not even have the same providers, so that is not comparing apples to apples. I am trying to find ways to debug why my provider can see it in his non-Buzz search, and I cant find it in my Buzz VOD search.

  10. FYI:-

    In VOD, When I select VLC to play the subtitles: I click the Down Arrow for Subtitles where it shows me download subtitles, load subtitles: when I select download Subtitles - it doesn't have anything to download. so Subtitles don't appear with VLC.

    For Update: I go to Buzz TV System Update:- It tells me LATEST UPDATE INSTALLED. It shows me the same number I provided here earlier:20220106.

  11. In Menu - Settings - Configuration I see LIVE TV set to Primary and VOD set to secondary.

    If I select them, the only change I can make is change primary to backup and vice versa.

    I will take your advice and make change VOD to External - so that it can prompt me - and then I can try VLC, etc.

    (I didn't realize using an outside app is better than using Buzz defaults)

  12. This is for VOD. Subtitles do not show up.  The option default lists them as DISABLED.

    I use XRS4500 Version 9. Build V20220106.20220106 Kernel:4.9.113

    Regarding Changing Players:-For Home Screen I see a Media player2 as selected (other options are classic, media player and mordern). I have never touched this setting. I assume this was ok.

    I just noticed that even for LIVE tv, I see an option to make SUBTITLES as CLOSED CAPTION 1, but I dont see any subtitles.

    So I had seen a similar issue in the past when using the SEARCH feature under VOD. But then the issue was the & and other such characters in the movie name. 

    But yesterday I was unable to list AIR FORCE ONE.  Search returned the movie in other languages. I reached out to my supplier and he sent me a screenshot he can find the movie ( i believe he was using a different player)

    Anyone know of anything like this?  Is there a software update or something. I recall checking last week my firmware was up to date.

    Using BUZZ box XRS4500 since few years. I notice that SUBTITLES option always has the RADIO BUTTON on DISABLED.  I checked with supplier and he can see it on other players he uses.

    What can I do to get subtitles to work?
