First time setting up a box, I tried going through the API login, and the server didn’t respond. Then I put in a bunch of M3U address and they worked, however, if I want to go from live tv to something else, I have to go into the server setting and connect onto whichever file I want to watch and wait for it to connect. Is this normal? 
mine problem I think it might be is I didn’t pick a file to save it to, which file do I select. It seems like whenever I pick a file it erases the playlist URL.

I don't know what server you are trying to connect to (please don't post since it is not allowed).   Reality is, it all depends on what is in your m3U file.  And M3U file can link to whatever media links you want.  Can be links to live streams, can me direct links to other media (like MP4 or MKV files), or whatever.

Example: this is one M3U link which links to some public Canadian live streams

Now if you want the best experience for LiveTV, VOD, TVSeries, the best is to purchase an IPTV subscription (there are 1000s to choose from, and some are great and others not as great).  It can be either a MAC based subscription, or an M3U based one (which can often be used with the XC API style login).  This would effectively populate your LiveTV channels, then when you go into VOD section, you would have your Movies, and then when you go into the TV Series section, you'd have all the TV Shows with the various seasons and episodes.

This is unfortunately the WRONG forum to discuss IPTV Servers and services.  Here it is only a forum to discuss the buzz boxes themselves, but not the servers.

I was Wondering if it had something to do with the boxes. Such as when I save a M3U file into the box, is there a specific file that I should select?

You should updater to the Buzz 5 operating system, the 4500's work like they should with the Buzz 5 operating system!

I could never record on my 4500's with the Buzz 4 system, with the Buzz 5 system they work GREAT!

I’m planning on updating it, but it hasn’t come up yet. I followed the feed that explains how to get the beta but that didn’t work either. The box has only been plugged in for a week but I will keep trying

You went into Update screen and then after checking for an update you hit "2015" on your remote ?  And nothing happened ?

Unfortunately nothing happened. I’ll send my info to them to see if I can get the buzz5 sent to me. Do you guys know if the in-ability to pause live tv will also be fixed?

On buzztv 5 as long as you are using the Primary player, and Timeshift (TS) is turned on in the setting (and a decent USB storage used), then you should be able to pause LiveTV.

I can’t find the time shift, where in the settings is it located. I have the XRS 4500, and it says 45 GB free space, shouldn’t that be enough without an external source?

Wait, I’m not on Buzz 5 yet so maybe that’s why I can’t find it

Should be plenty (you can even limit the cache size.  Not sure if it is available on BuzzTV4, I think it was introduced in BuzzTV5.  You go into the menu, pvr, pvr options, and you will have an option for Timeshift in there, and a few other related options under that.

But like you said, you will probably see that once you upgrade to 5.

I can pause live tv without having ts on

When I go into pvr I don’t have an options spot, I just have recordings, schedule, manually sch, and storage.

Huh ?  I just tried it on my 4900 and if I turn off TS and change channels to ensure TS is not still active... Then if I try to pause (on a channel with no catch-up), it completely ignores it (does nothing - which is what I expect).  Tried with both Primary and backup players just in case.   Now, surprisingly, if I try that on a channel that supports catch-up, then it will pause, but when I try to resume, it just hangs, and after playing with a few keys it finally gives me the dialog to "switch to liveTV".   But it does not resume gracefully if TS is off, and you try it on a channel that supports catch-up.  At least not on the server I am using.

If TS is on, and I have it setup to go to my SSD sata drive I have installed internally, it pauses and resumes without a hitch, nice and smoothly.

@Myojohn since you don't have them, that confirms that that was only added as of Buzztv5 (which you don't have yet).
