Thomas Malone Posted Tuesday at 12:20 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:20 AM I’d like to invite the devs to consider incorporation of a voice-controlled AI-assistant button/function on the home screen, analogous to Alexa on fire TVs or Hey Google on Google streamers. Perhaps simply by directly linking to an AI-based search engine like Brave… 1 Quote

Emporium Posted Tuesday at 01:29 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:29 AM So we create a new thread for a wishlist, because the first STICKY in the Powerstation category is not self explanatory ? 2 Quote

Thomas Malone Posted Tuesday at 03:23 AM Author Posted Tuesday at 03:23 AM Another user was criticized for posting a wishlist item in that first thread that did not directly apply to the Buzz TV app. My suggestion here was for the homepage, which I understood to be separate from the Buzz TV 6 app. I apologize if I was mistaken about that thread topic, and I can certainly put any wishlist items that are appropriate in the future in the first thread. I did take the time to read every single thread before posting anything on this forum, but if my above interpretation is incorrect, please let me know. That said, any thoughts on the utility of adding an AI assistant function? Happy days Quote
Emporium Posted Tuesday at 06:05 AM Posted Tuesday at 06:05 AM All these AI things are the first things that I disable on all my phones, tablet and media boxes. I hate them. But maybe that's just me. Everyone has different opinions. I don't need to tell alexa to turn on my lights, I walk over and flip the switch (most of us need the exercise anyhow). Don't need to tell google to turn on my TV, I just grab the remote and turn it on. I get annoyed even on ma new media box when I go to search and it tries to enable the voice remote to speak into it. I keep hitting deny and can't wait to see "deny all the time" because it is just annoying. If anyone ever decided to add such a feature, they better offer an option to turn it off completely. 3 Quote
Thomas Malone Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM Author Posted yesterday at 10:04 AM Oh, I agree. I don’t mean AI for the purpose of controlling IoT, though some users might find it to be worth having those kinds of features available but disabled by default for functions like checking home security cameras. I’m was thinking simply as an AI-augmented search engine (like Brave, for example) to answer general questions, and in particular questions relevant to decisions in TV viewing like what channel is a particular show or game playing on right now, or when does the next season of a particular series premiere, or show me recent movies with this actor (for people who aren’t glued to their phones and don’t have any such far-field AI voice assistant set up like Echo or Google Home). Currently the search capability on the Buzz home screen doesn’t seem to have these kind of more sophisticated capabilities, but it would seem to be easy to add them. Quote
