Infinite124 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Hey everyone, I'm hoping I'm posting this in the right place. This is an issue that I've encountered before. On the old operating system we lost the ability to control the volume when watching YouTube, and only while watching YouTube. All other times volume control works perfectly. So I took my box in to the person I bought it from. He upgraded my E2 Plus Essentials box to the new Buzztv 5 operating system and that seemed to fix the issue. Then today I go to use the YouTube app amd again I cant control the volume again. The system doesn't allow me to uninstall the app so I can try reinstalling it. Not sure what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Quote
Emporium Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago (edited) This is definitely the wrong place to post Nothing to do with BuzzTV 5 (which is the buzz IPTV software which is installed on the box). Since this is an an E2 Plus Essentials as you mentioned you should have put it under that section. But, at least you did not Hijack or revive some 5 yr old thread So we'll give you a pass for now... Do you have any fancy setup with surround receivers, etc.. ? If not, from the main launcher screen, go to the top and select Settings (Gear icon). Then on the second row (device preferences), scroll right to the "Sound" option and select it. In there you you have 3 option. By default it is probably set to "Auto", first option. Try changing that to the second option (none: never use surround sound). Quite possible youtube is encoding a sound format that is not natively decoded on the box and it is trying to passthrough to a receiver to decode, but you can't control volume on the box for passthrough. PS: Don't recall if the option is set immediately, or if you have to power cycle the ox after setting it. But give it a show and let us know. Edited 15 hours ago by Emporium Quote

I tried your suggestions and they didn't work. But I did fix the issue! I went in the settings, view all apps, found the YouTube app, and selected "Uninstall updates" which reverted it to the original version. That worked. I can control the volume again! So there's some issue with the updates for the app. 1 Quote
Emporium Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago AS long as you have it working again. If it happens again, another thing you can try is to go into the Settings again, but instead of selecting "sound" select "audio" on the first line. And if I recall near the bottom there is an option with something to the effect of "digital formats" or something like that (not in front of my box right now). And when you select it, you have 3 or 4 formats, and one of them is PCM. Choosing that can help in some cases. But for now, it works, so don't mess with it These boxes are quite old and still running Android 7, so there will surely be newer apps over time which may not behave well. Quote
