I want recordings to go on usb. When I go to usb do I choose set as removable storage or set up as device storage?

I reset my box. I did purchase a Sandisk. I have not tried using it. My question do I format and load or just format.

Hello, I formatted a USB yesterday and everything worked fine. Today when I try and load Kodi I get the message “Waiting for external storage “. when I go into storage, I see internal shared 115gb. Next PNY usb drive is safe to eject, and then PNY not connected. It is plugged in. I have unplugged and removed usb, and restarted nothing. what are my options? Thanks
