  1. After spending way more time than I wanted on this, here is what I've found on my XRS4500 (can't say if this apply to all units, or it's just on mine): The USB3 port on XRS4500 can't power up external USB3 NVMe enclosure with 1TB SSD in it. Tried with 3 different enclosures and 3 SSD manufactures. The highest hope I've had for Samsung 980 in Orico enclosure, but it didn't work. Tried with Sabrent enclosure I borrowed from a friend and tested with the first SSD I've had (Silicon Power) and with Patriot P300 my friend brought. The last enclosure I've tested with was the iCan, the cheapest of the three enclosures used here and I had no expectations for it after I saw that neither Orico nor Sabrent worked. No drives were recognized by XRS4500 in the USB3 port, while all of them worked in USB2. All drives worked in nvidia shield and in the two Windows desktop PCs I have next to me (one on Win10, and the other on Win11). I've also tested this with two external spinning HDDs (WD Passport 500GB and Seagate Backup Plus 2TB) and both of them were recognized and worked just fine in USB3 port on XRS4500. Finally, I brought Sabrent 4-port powered USB3 hub into play, and each combination of drives/enclosures worked just fine in USB3 port. I don't know if I should say that all XRS4500s have the same issue and that USB3 doesn't have enough power for external SSDs, but that sure is the case with my unit. At the end, after connecting my drives through the powered USB3 hub, every drive worked just fine, regardless of the drive or of the enclosure manufacturer. So, if anyone else has problems like this one, I'd recommend buying the powered hub first, before upgrading your SSD to a higher end model. Those higher end SSDs will most likely last longer, but they won't resolve this power issue. All the best, guys!
  2. Yeah, I don't have WD Blue anywhere anymore. I still have one 3.5" Black running in an older AMD FX6300 PC, probably 8-9 years old. I have ordered Samsung 980 NVMe and I'll try it in the same enclosure. I also ordered a Sabrent 4-port USB3 powered hub as a last attempt. It just feels bad that the same SSD and enclosure works in USB2, but not in USB3. It also works in USB3 ports in various other devices, but not in XRS4500. I just tried 2.5" Seagate Backup Plus 2TB that is a spinning drive and it works in that same USB3 port. I would guess that the spinning drive would need more power than the SSD, but I could be wrong. If I am wrong, that powered hub won't resolve the problem. Thanks for looking into this, guys, I appreciate the help. I may post the conclusion here in a few days, if I manage to resolve the issue.
  3. Hi Emporium. Thanks for looking into this. I've had no problems with Adata NVMe SSDs and I have 2 of them in my PCs for a few years now. On the other hand, 2 WD Blue SSDs I've had in my PCs died this summer 2 weeks apart. They were purchased at the same time, so probably a bad batch, but that was enough for me to decide to try something else. The enclosure is Orico, but I don't know what model it is. Again, that Orico+SP SSD works just fine in 2 PCs and in nvidia shield, staying connected and having speed that is way higher than USB2. The same combination works in XRS4500's USB2, but not in USB3. To me, it looks like it's trying to draw more power from the port than port can provide. I don't like the idea of using powered USB hub, but I may try that at the end.
  4. Dishuser, thanks for answering so quickly. Are you saying that the external SSD needs to be formatted by XRS4500 in order to be recognized in USB3 port? If I do that, what file system will be used on that drive? My drive is currently formatted in NTFS, which is obviously supported by XRS4500, since it's working in USB2 port.
  5. It has some files, but nothing important. I wanted to use it as a portable storage, it was formatted on PC and it works fine in the USB2 port. Sorry for asking this, but how's that content relevant to the problem that the SSD isn't working in USB3 port?
  6. Yes. Usually "the blue port" is USB 3.0 port. If it's easier, to the port that is next to the TF reader slot.
  7. Hi all, I have an external USB 3.2 enclosure for NVMe SSDs, with SP 1TB Gen3 SSD in it. It works fine on Win 10 PC, Win 11 PC, and on nvidia shield. When I plug it in into my XRS4500's USB3 port, it gets recognized sometimes, but not always. When it gets recognized it doesn't stay connected - in 10-20 seconds it gets "safely ejected". It works OK and it stays connected all the time in USB2 port, but obviously I'd like to have higher speed of USB3. What could cause that? USB3 port doesn't provide enough power? Is there some enclosure and/or NVMe SSD brand that is confirmed to work fine in USB3 port?
  8. Thanks, dishuser. It's all resolved now. I was watching TV (15-ish minutes ago, started from a Media Player launcher) and I've got the message on screen that my BuzzTV 5 app got updated, my stream got closed and I was sent back to the Home screen. I started the BuzzTV 5 app again and continued watching TV. When I saw your message, I closed the stream and went to Settings to try what you've suggested and check for the update. It said "no new updates", but I've noticed that the IPTV version is now 5.0.775. It looks like it downloaded the update to the app automatically. The most important thing is that, when I saw the new version, I tried the Modern launcher and it all works fine now, no looping.
  9. Hi all, I've got the message that my MAC address was added to the beta, so I've tried to update and got the beta release of BuzzTV 5. It downloaded and installed firmware V20220106, and for IPTV version it says 5.0.653. I've read about more recent versions with higher 5.0.X numbers, but I'm not sure if those are for the XRS4500. Is that version the most recent? I'm asking that because the box is now looping in the "Modern" launcher, saying that "BuzzTV 5 keeps stopping". It's not crashing immediately, it takes about 1-5 seconds to crash and restart the launcher (not the box). I've tried rebooting the box, but it didn't help. If I'm lucky, I can start the Settings app before it crashes and switch to a different launcher and then it works OK. It's looping with that problem only in Modern launcher. Does anybody know how to fix that? I've tried clearing the cache for BuzzTV 5 app, but that didn't help either.
  10. Thanks for letting me know about the queue, Emporium. I was told about it (by dishuser), but I still don't think I understand the process fully. I guess that people who don't register for beta (and don't use the 2015 method) will stay on v4. It looks like trying the 2015 method isn't doing anything if the MAC address of the box isn't registered for beta. I've tried it yesterday and today and the only response I've got was "No Beta Update Available". I was hoping that, when I key in the 2015 on my remote, the system will mark my box as a BuzzTV 5 candidate, but that's probably still based on manual MAC submission. I've sent a PM with my MAC already (I think on Sunday evening), so I'm hoping that, after it gets added to the main system somewhere, I'd be able to get the new version. Am I correct in my assumptions? You said "you will then be in the queue to get the latest BuzzTV 5 (can take 20 or 30 minutes)". Is that 20-30 minutes to be in the queue or to get the latest BuzzTV 5 installed?
  11. Hi dishuser, Yes, my firmware is V20211108, but when I select "Check Update" and type 2015, I get the message "No Beta Update Available". I thought that's because it wasn't rolled out to everyone yet, and it is available only to those boxes that are registered for beta. I read on one of the topics that the plan is to make MAC address not required for getting the beta FW, but it seems that this process didn't start yet. Is there another way to get the FW update for Buzz 5, besides sending my MAC to Allaboutbuzz (if this auto-update process hasn't started yet)?
  12. Thanks, sea157. I think I'm going to try the Buzz 5 beta. I do have 3 lines with one of my providers and I'd love to record one channel, while watching another. I hope the recording to SSD via USB3 works fine. My guess is that the next step will be to send my MAC address to Allaboutbuzz via PM and ask for a beta access. Thank you all for quick responses and helpful info.
  13. Thank you, Ryu. The list is impressive Some of the features I wanted to see are in the list (like "Record + Watch another" and "Download Catch-Up"), which is great. Emporium, here are some things I expected to see in the app, but after seeing the list Ryu provided, I doubt they are in the plans for v5. Since I can have multiple IPTV providers on XC, I wished there was a feature to combine channel groups from those providers into one group list for easier navigation and smoother switching. Currently I have to go to the Server Settings first and activate the server I want to access. If I mark some channels as Favs and turn the Fav TV channels row on the Home screen, I'd expect to see all favs from all providers, instead of just those that are coming from the currently active server. Selecting a Fav channel in that row could activate the server for me behind the scene if it isn't currently active and show the channel.
  14. Hello all, I've got my XRS4500 recently and I have some "issues" with BuzzTV 4. I'm not saying it's not working as it should, but I was expecting some things to exist in the app and now want to know if v5 has them already. Is there a list of features in v5 that don't exist in v4, and if there is, where can I find it?
