I have several google and youtube accounts and have never had a problem with any of them on my x5ss

Again, you are lucky and as you said Youtube is controlled by firmware. So those who have been affected will be counting on the Buzz team to sort it out.

Just purchased x5 today for my wife who only watches YouTube on the box and it doesn't work...says the device is unsupported!

I spent all day trying to update it with various YouTube apks and none will work and neither can the pre installed YT app be uninstalled...how stupid is that???

Unless this is fixed immediately I will have to return the buzz x5 for a refund.
