cyrowth Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM Posted yesterday at 02:04 AM Considering a PS6 purchase, but saw several threads online that raised issues with it being plugged into an A/V receiver vs directly into TV (then using e.arc). I have a remote electronics cabinet with a 25' 8K HDMI cable running from my receiver to my LG OLED TV. All current video and audio devices (including 2 Android TV/Google TV boxes) are plugged into the receiver with HDMI-CEC enabled on all devices, and everything seems to work just fine. So, a new Power Station 6 would be connected to internet via ethernet and by HDMI to one of the inputs on the receiver -- with the TV connected to the TV OUT HDMI port on the receiver. The Buzz PS6 setup says “The PS6 MUST be connected directly to the TV with the included HDMI cable” One online post claims that this Buzz PS6 "requirement" to connect directly to the TV is only mandatory for initial setup. However, another user with the PS6 says that he had issues setting up his PS6 by connecting directly to his TV and then moving it into his Home Theater system (setup like my A/V receiver centric system). He relayed some issues after moving input from TV to receiver (i.e. apps not playing properly, etc.). Is this really a HARD requirement to plug PS6 directly into TV ? What would be the major concern if I plugged a PS6 into my A/V receiver as with my current Formuler Z11 Pro Max and Onn4K Plus devices ??? Hard for me to believe that any high-quality Android/Google TV box can’t be plugged into an A/V receiver and from there into the TV. With the expense of the PS6, I don't want any surprises after purchasing. Quote
Watchwally Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago For four months I have been running an identical system to that which you describe using a PS6, except the HDMI cable between the AV receiver and TV is only 6' long. What is still proving difficult to get working the way I want is... achieving the same simple system power on/off control I had when using a Fire Stick. With the Fire Stick, it was easy to have the remote control power button turn the TV, Fire Stick and AV receiver on and off with one click. With the PS6, I am still struggling with this by juggling settings for HDMI-CEC and e.ARC and have not yet achieved the smooth ease of use I had with the Fire Stick. Other common remote control functions work satisfactorily on the PS6 remote control. My problems may be due to the age of my Samsung TV and Yamaha AV receiver (13+ years but working perfectly). As instructed, I did connect the PS6 directly to my TV for the initial set-up but moved it over to the AV receiver as soon as that was done. Of course everything else about the PS6 is wonderful and I don't regret the purchase one bit. I just miss the simplicity the Fire Stick remote control provided over the components in my home theatre system. I should note that, while the all singing and all dancing PS6 BT-500 remote control and its 47 buttons works fine, all members of my family long for the simple 12 button Fire Stick remote control we originally cut the cord with. If anyone reading this can tell me the answer to a related question, I (and possibly you) would appreciate the answer. Is there a down side to leaving the PS6 on (green indicator LED) 24 hours/day when the TV and AV receiver are off? Quote
