  1. Hi, ....again I wish there was a forum for general questions and not just model specific...anyway, are there any Buzz boxes that have built-in bluetooth transmission for audio to, say for example,  bluetooth headphones?  I need to be able to watch TV with no sound in the room due to a sleeping parrot.

  2. Yes.

I formatted the stick with the Buzz box and recorded a 2 hour movie using Tivimate which consumed 3.3 GB of storage.  So a 32 GB stick or 32 Gig of internal memory should  theoretically give around 19 hours of recording time.  unless its 4K which I dont use, or have, or need.  And yes, after formatting, I plugged the stick back into my PC and Windows flagged the stick as corrupt so the formatting method used by Buzz or android  is unique .     0.6 GB of the 32 GB was showing as  unavailable due to being used by the system files.

  3. Yes, the 32 GB is not RAM, my mistake.  I seem to be caring less and less about details these days, which is a bad omen.   I do have a few USB sticks and have used them before.  I think I'll just record a movie on the USB stick and check amount of memory used by plugging it into my PC.

I am using Tivimate.  Can anyone comment on the best formatting type to use when formatting the stick?  ie...exFAT, FAT 32 etc etc  My PC (for the one stick I have been using on and off)  only gives me the option to use either exFAT or NTFS.  Pretty sure I previously formatted it as exFAT and now my PC doesn't provide the option for FAT32 for this one particular stick.

  4. Hi, my XRS 4000 has 32 GB ram.  Assuming my "alternate"   IPTV source is sending me 1080P, can anyone comment as to the approximate internal storage space available for recording movies?

I recorded a 3 hour movie last night, and had a 2nd recording scheduled for a bit later and it didn't record,  so I was wondering if there wasn't enough space left.

Also, how can I see how much memory is available and  how much is "used" in the recording folder in internal storage?   Is there an app  for that?

    Thx in advance

  5. Happy to report my recording problems are gone with the 2 streams.  One issue that is a pain is that I have to switch over to the other stream  while recording if I want to watch something else with out freezing or hiccups, or even if I want to watch what I'm recording.

Thanks for your guidance.  I guess the new box is off the radar now.

There is a pvr file that you can load if your are on buzz 5

Hmmm....do you know if it will allow you to pause live IPTV, then fast-forward back to current real-time?  I like to hit pause when a commercial comes on,  go off and do something, then come back and fast-forward through the commercials back to the program.

  7. Awesome, thanks.  I now have a 2nd stream coming in.  Have not tested recording just yet.  Luckily the server is not far from me geographically, which may not mean much but it's comforting.                     My XRS 4000 works fine normally, I just wondered if the "lower-end" CPU could be contributing to the recording problems since it has to handle 2 streams at once.  If/when I buy a new box, an audio output jack is essential for me.

  8. OK, the developer of Tivimate told me that in order to record, I need 2 servers....My IPTV provider told me I need 2 playlists, not servers,  and need to purchase a 2-connection plan.  But their website only seems to allow a choice of up to 4 "devices"  per subscription.   I wish there was more standardization of terminology in this industry.   Waiting to hear back from them.

The latest buzz with the latest processor is the new X5.

It comes with a new Amlogic S905X4 Quad-core 64bit Cortex-A55 processor, and 4GB of RAM.

However when you say you have issues with recording, you realize that when you record you are streaming 2 streams (even if you are watching the same).  So it all depends on the channel quality and bitrate that your channel is being transmitted.   Some services offer low bitrate channels  or lower resolution explicitly to help.  When you say you have 25MBPS are you sure it is MBPS or Mbps.. Big difference.  if it is 25Mbps, it is truly borderline for 2 high quality streams.

Also, the drive you are using to record to, are you sure there are no issues with it ?  Very often people use cheap USB sticks which are barely able to keep up with the write speeds required for high bitrate streams.

You'll love the X5, but before you assume the problem is with your box, I would verify to make sure it is not your available bandwidth or your external storage.

Aaahh...that explains a LOT...I did not know that recording uses 2 streams even when not changing the channel to watch something else.   I firmly believe that a whole bunch of people don't know that and are running into the same issues as I am.

I suspect the internet speed now.   It doesn't matter if I record to a USB stick or the internal memory.   I just  tested my speed, its  20 Mbps....not MBPS....Normally I get 25.

    Thanks so much !!

What's  the difference between MBPS and Mbps ?

you have a 4000 but this is the 4900 forum?

you dont say if you are on buzz 4 or 5 andd what version you have

My question has nothing to do with the 4000.   I am asking about all boxes.   There is no "general" forum here for asking a question like mine, so i just picked this one as its a popular one.

  11. I have an XRS 4000 and cannot record properly, either with the native IPTV player nor with Tivimate playing streams from another IPTV provider.     I suspect the box does not have the CPU power needed.   The stream cuts out briefly approx. every 10 seconds when recording, but is rock solid when just watching and not recording.     My Internet speed is  a solid reliable  25 MBPS.  Thinking about getting a new box, but I can't tell which Buzz box has the fastest processor......  Anyone have that information?  Thanks so much.

  12. FYI.......So, I formatted the stick to NTFS on my PC, then stuck it into the XRS4000 and formatted it using the built-in utility.   Now Tivimate doesn't see the stick.  It did before, when it was formatted to FAT32.

Put the stick back on the PC and  Windows can't read it, says it needs formatting.  Buzz seems to have its own formatting method.

  13. Just wondering how long the Backup function takes.  I tried it this morning and after about an hour or so, it was still showing as backing up.  Had to cycle power so I could watch TV.\

Does the backup save all recorded video files that are stored in internal storage as well recordings that are already on the USB memory sticK?

When the wait is over I can imagine the huge sigh of relief from users 😂

    Wait for what?

Mine will only record anywhere between 2 and 10 minutes worth of the program.  Doesn't matter if I use internal or external, and I have tons of storage space.

I am using the native "play" feature in the PVR menu.  Other posts here suggest using an external player such as VLC.  Doesn't the built-in native player work?

    Appreciate any advice.  TY

Update:  I just discovered a setting in Advanced Settings/HDMI CEC for Auto Power OFF.  I suspect that when the TV is turned off while waiting for a recording to start, the box detects this thru the HDMI interface and will shut itself off.  I disabled Auto Power OFF...lets see what happens....
