  1. Thanks Emporium. I have an Onn device as well and will give it a try. Also will investigate other google-based codes. Maybe I'll get lucky. If not, just means my wife and I will have to have 2 remotes each on our side table.
  2. Does anyone use a universal remote that works with a Buzz X5 and can control at least 3 other devices. ? My Harmony universal IR remote, which I have been using successfully with the Buzz X5, A/V Receiver, and TV for many years has failed (and Harmony has now exited the universal remote business). I have ordered a couple of high-rated universal remotes on Amazon, but they do not have Buzz as one of their many media streaming devices in their code library (none allow you to view their code library before purchase). I'm sure the Buzz X5 might respond to the code for one of the other streamers, TVs or other media devices controlled, but trying all the available codes without being able to narrow it down seems like a hopeless undertaking. My A/V receiver and a couple of other devices are IR only, so a Bluetooth only remote won't work for me. I'm hoping someone has found a "non-Harmony" universal IR remote that works with the Buzz X5 -- or else someone who has some insight on how to approach syncing these other multi-device universal remotes that don't have Buzz in their canned library of devices controlled ?? The "learning" function on the higher priced remotes are often hit and miss.
  3. So, does this mean that the PVR recording must be completely finished before you can begin watching -- it won't continue to record while playing the begining ? So, the PVR does not work like a DRV is the answer ??
  4. Guys, quick question about recording very long sports events. The past 2 days I have recorded 7 hours of the Solheim Cup golf tournament in Spain. It began at 4 am my time, so we recorded all 7 hours. Thinking it might work like a cable DVR, when we got up 2 hours into the recording, we went to PVR and began watching the beginning segment of the recording. After almost 2 hours, the viewing suddenly stopped and we got kicked out to the Buzz home screen. It may be a coincidence, but the timing of this "kickout" was nearly how far into the recording we began watching the already ready recorded portion. Similar thing happened 2 days in a row. So, my question is: did starting to watch the begining of a recording while the recording was still running interrupt the recording process for the remainder of the recording time ??
  5. Yes, we do have 2 connections on both of my XC accounts. Mostly, we have been using "Background Recording" --some of each method you listed (Box off, using another app or multi connection account). As I described earlier in the thread, the partial recording occurred 90% of the time on both XC accounts. TiviMate on my Buzz X5 recording of the same program was almost always successfull. Since switching the stream type to TS per recommendations on this blog, we have had 100% successful recording of the entire shows (again using background recording). Other changes tried earlier like clearing the Buzz TV cache and switching to the backup player had no affect on the partial recording issue. If you need any additional info or want me to try a differnt procedure, just let me know. For now, the problem seems totally resolved with the TS stream type.
  6. You're right. Automatic did select HLS for both of us but of course, different feeds and conditions could be different. Thanks a lot for your help in resolving this issue for me. Ditto for nbs.
  7. I recorded another 2 hour program last night successfully with TS stream type setting. For me, that's 100% success rate for 4 two hour programs using TS (1 was scheduled then system shutdown) and about an 80% failure to record the full program duration for over 50+ recordings with automatic setting (which dishuser found is HLS). So, for me (xStream code IPTV service using both Express and SurfShark VPN), it seems like setting stream type to TS resolves this chronic issue. Maybe different experience for users with different setups. Not sure why BuzzTV 5 app is not always playing nicely with HLS stream type feeds.
  8. When you start playing the recording, does it show a full 2 hours that you can fast forward through to near the end ? Previous 2 attempts you reported showed only a small percentage of expected duration recording using automatic. Most all my recording using automatic show full duration on the PVR show icon but change to mach less duration when actually playing them. I will record several more shows tonight with TS stream format and let you know how it goes.
  9. I changed my stream format from Automatic to TS as suggested by dishuser and scheduled a 2 hour recording. It recorded the full 2 hours -- the 1st time in awhile. I will try additional recordings with the TS stream format, but hopefully this setup will continue to record successfully. I don't know how to check what format was selected with the Automatic setting, but this may turn out to be a contributor to the issue. Both my IPTV services are Xtream Code services.
  10. My stream format is also set to Automatic. Is there any downside to normal live TV viewing to switch this to TS or M3U8/HLS ??
  11. dishuser, thanks for testing this feature. Was ready to conclude it was just my box. Will use Tivimate as workaround until issue can be investigated and addressed by Buzz.
  12. Can all my installed apps be moved to the 256GB SD Drive from internal storage ?? If so, how ?? Is there a global Buzz X5 backup feature or must personalized data and settings be backuped app by app ?
  13. I have reset the Buzz X5 several times for other reasons, but not within the past 6-8 months (reinstalling my many apps, services, favorites, and saved Movies and TV series is more than I am willing to do over again for a small chance it will improve things). The one button record feature is NOT enabled.
  14. nbs, I have a 256Gb micro SD card installed in the Buzz X5. I initially set it up to record to the SD card. When the partial recording issue manifested itself, early on, I switched over to internal storage thinking that this would be more reliable. dishuser, I almost always schedule recordings in advance. Never had success recording a program we were currently watching on the fly, so I started setting these recordings to start 5 minutes in the future. Did this for things like live sporting events where we had to go out and wanted to watch the end of the match. I have tested these scheduled recordings of the same program with the same source using BuzzTV 5 and Tivimate on the X5 and get the same results -- partial recording on the Buzz Tv 5 and full recording on Tivimate.
  15. That's what I have been doing for the past 2 months. Leaving the Mecool and Onn boxes out of the discussion, using the X5 the most recent 7-10 recordings where I used both the BuzzTV 5 app recording feature and Tivimate on the X5 -- recording the same program from the same source, the BuzzTV5 resulted in partial recordings most of the time as noted in previous posts and Tivimate recorded the entire program as setup.
